Being frozen while WW is pretty good. WW hits a certain amount of time per second. When you are chilled, you move more slowly, meaning each target gets hit many more times per WW.
@@ImmaturityFTW WW speed is independent of being chilled. Being chilled helps because you stay in the hit zone longer. Faster run/walk moves you faster while you WW also, so less can be better. Monsters usually bunch up on you and your merc, so WWing slower keeps you in hit range

Since we're talking melee characters, i'd like to add smth underrated about angelics. The damage taken goes to mana on amulet. It gives you all the mana you need really.
So that's what that stat means???... All this time I was thinking it behaved the same way as the Energy Shield skill for the Sorceress, where damage taken deducts mana instead of hp. If that's the case then it might be easier to stack that vs mana leech or mana gain on kill.

Required level 30 to equip. I think it's called Howltusk. Only downside is that it's Etherial, so I will eventually have to replace it

That’s pretty good, I like it, I will copy yours, I start playing plugy about 3 weeks now, and I make a Sorceress level 86 now, but my gear still sucks, and I make a zealer level 75 now at least I can kill the clone now, I have 5 x annihilus, my best so far is 17//20//7, thank you for posting your videos.
Nm baal runs finally dropped it for me ..level 75 baal .. A lot faster than a hell Baal level 99 ..but only if your a specific item grinder Lol ... Its torture I feel your pain but my God when you see that tan "slayer guard" its a moment for a barb where your heart sinks.. Best barb helm minus ik helm only because it has to be worn ta have full set bonus
I never ever found it. And I've played LoD since it came out in 2001.... And speaking of.....he says "no high lvl runes used..." I have never found anything above Pul rune - again since 2001... I fucking hate the lame ass drop% in D2 - but I still love the game. :'(
Holy crap? I loved this game! I remember going ham against a bunch of pvp'ers who just went berserk on each other and spammed a ton of ice orbs at them.
I think in classic WW still doesnt scale with attack speed at all. You can just take the slowest hard hitting 2-hander and you will hit like 6 times per second.
Before Oath swords my alternative was to reset act 3 vendor for cruel colossus blade of quickness, larzuk and shael it. For the vendor to sell that sword it took me couple of hours of resetting.
I've been playing D2 for 12 years. I follow nearly every D2 channel there is and i can say this is by far one of the best D2 channels i've ever come across. Love the uploads man! Keep em' coming!
Barb was my first char in this game too. Recently I have been using a berserk barb for chaos bosses and been having a lot of fun. Ww barb is a true classic build. Good stuff db!
I remember back in the day when lance barbs were the go to. Probably around 2000/2001. Has a lance barb had any success since then? I’m back into d2 now but was out for 15 years
I’m gonna say no buddy, I played then on and off and up until 2005. Been out about 15 years as well since then. I believe the best weapons are rune words death, beast, botd, maybe doom. Lance was great for range and with an enigma and perhaps 40 3/20/20 sc’s 3 max / 20 ar / vit and 3 max / 20 dmg and vit. Good times, cheers

should put the higher damage weap above your glove side and the weaker one on the boot side. Its so the stronger weap can hit first and also its for when you berserk, berserk dam is based on your mainhand damage (aka glove side).
FYI @dbrunski125, you dont need to do the triangle movement if you have the Max breakpoint. After that bp your we will hit every 4th frame no matter Where you are so the first two 4 frame swings doesnt matter. If you dont have the cap you should use the short spins though for most attacks per second
solid build, those mid runes can take a loooot of time to drop tho(2 mals 2 puls and 1 um), even on hell countess it would take at least like 1000 runs if ur lucky(1:739 odds per mal) my sorc is level 91 already, been farming like crazy, ancient tunnels, pit, mephisto and around 1000 LK runs last couple days, i never got a mal, so far the best i got was 1 pul, 1 ist and 2 guls, also 2 perfect 4 socket eth balrogs can take a while too. When i finally drop a mal i think ill wait til i find a Lo for a gg grief
So true. That's a lot of mid-level runes, and those are amazing base weapons. Two of them, even! I wish instead of "budget," there were good self-found/single-player guides out there. This stuff is phenomenal wealth to me. I've beaten Hell Baal with a Sorceress and Amazon, but I'm just not that into "farming."
Here's what I disagree on: cannot be frozen. You do not need it on WW barb. As you mentioned yourself, attack speed during whirlwind is only affected by weapon attack speed and IAS. Being frozen does not change attack speed. But it slows your movement speed, so you can do more hits on a single monster while whirling past him. Personally I like no-cbf WW barb.
Ubeogesh yea I agree for specifically ww you could argue it's better. I personally hate being slowed down running and walking or if I was to bezerk single target cold. Prob cuz I'm spoiled eith teleporting characters lol. Cheers for the input
Whirlwind barb wants to be decrep-ed frozen and slow! The slower he goes trough the enemies the more hits he lands and the quicker he kills em. Can you make a throwing barb? :D

Hi! Sorry if it is obvious, I'm quite a beginner, but how do you manage your attack rating and mana until you get good enough legendary gear that takes care of it? You said that you don't invest in dexterity and energy, as your gear takes care of that, but what do you do until you get that gear?
You can invest points in weapon mastery early on, and use the bonus to boost AR from items, +AR charms, +AR rings. Diamonds in helm or armour, Amethyst in weapon, Set Angelic Ring and Amulet, Set Sigon's Visor helmet with any other piece, etc. An Eth rune in the weapon will cut monster defences by 25%, it also helps a lot. Any item with mana steal helps, Gorefoot has 2% (Level 9), Manald Heal has 4-7% (Level 15). Rare weapons often have mana steal, or if you have a good weapon with a socket or two you can put Skulls in it. And mana potions. The Arreat Summit, all about items: classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/ Have fun!
How would you say this holds up compared to a full IK WW barb? I really like the IK stone crusher as weapon and feel the full set is quite powerful but I find it hard to compare it to builds using Runewords and such.. Edit: I'm asking this simply because I was lucky enough to recently have found the IK armor in the Throne of Destruction while playing SP with PlugY. I've cleared hell just now with the barb on players 1 and it was quite easy, but clear speed looks "only" similar to yours with this budget build..
I think this build is prob a hair better but the full IK set is really good. It has nice mf on it as well. Make sure you double shael you maul to hit fastest ias bp for whirlwind :)
I had two spare 15%IAS jewels so I put those in there. Considering my "main" is also a Blizz sorc and currently I'm working on getting my Zeal paladin up to the point where he can handle ubers I'm going to keep my WW barb with full IK. I'll start working on better gear when I'm at the level of using Grief etc :) Thanks for the reply btw, love your stream (never thought I'd enjoy just watching D2 instead of only playing it myself :D )
Michiel Ecker hahah thank you man. Make sure you check you iasww breakpoints because im not sure if to 15 ias jewels is enough or if you have to use 2 shaels I can't remembr woukd have to look it up
My fave build. I think a more "budget" setup would be just using Tals mask and Angelics Amu + Ring. You need lots of AR with WW because you can't afford to miss or you'll run out of mana (like what happened to you during the Diablo fight). Cat's eye does nothing for WW imo. For a less optimized gear setup, you'd get more mileage with using a single 2H weapon for bigger damage numbers (not to mention that Dual wield doesn't do anything for your backup berserk attack). An offhand Oath doesn't add much imo.
Im a simple man, i see barb video, i like. One note tho, if you dont have, Ignore Target's Defense or -25% Target Defense on weapons, should get some attack rating elsewhere
Oath is fine for mainhand since you hit the right frames on ww, and thats super important. But, i would wear a Death in the offhand, and use angelic amu, ring + raven. Also i would get +3 bo sticks on swap instead of harmony. You can just use frenzy if you want to move fast. Depending on where you farm, i would switch in a gface for more cb and ds, and switch duress out with a treachery for more res and dr. The 48 fhr bp is more than fine. Also, when you encounter mana burn, the best counter you can do is use War Cry for the stun. Really important in baalruns aswell. On singletarget its very nice to use battle cry untill merc procs hes decrep. Last thing is gonna be, you need to do the DoD, Dance of Death. Small whirls in a triangle, if you want to max your damage, long whirls is mainly with mana burn where you whirl along the edge of the pack if they are not stunned.
Also, being frozen while you ww is bad, it cuts down your ias, wich meaning you will deal significantly less damage as it cuts the "hit-checks" down. String of ears is BiS for ww barb in pvm :)
Slight Adjustment thanks for the feed back man. I was doing the short tri whirls most of the time lol. I honestly dont play a lot of barb. But nice gear feedback suggestions man. I was trying to stick to budget so no high runes. I agree on 3 bo sticks as well. I mentioned that as a possibility as well. G face is pimp for sure lol. Thanks for the feedback man. I tried Bloodletter, and the problem was the lack of range. All the bonus to ww is not much if you can't reach things. I'd rather have an Honor or Passion in something much longer. (Or an upgraded good Bonesnap with a Shael. :) )
If you know what kind of weapon you'll be using you can dump points into weapon mastery early on. Normal attack will take you to lvl 18, 1 point concentration to lvl 30. Or put a point in Mace Mastery and use good sceptres and mauls. At least that was the game before they introduced the character reset option from Akara after clearing the den of evil. Now it's two sceptres with double swing until lvl 30, then reset.
Watching your content Im really intrigued to try and build up my own single player game. It has been a long time and I played always very casually, not really reading too much about the builds I played and as far as I can remember Ive always quit my characters when hell started. Is there a character/build (or generally a good site with builds) you can recommend, with whom I can start out to farm some gear in hell and then see from there, creating builds as I find the items needed. Ive enjoyed the solo self found mode in path of exile lately very much and Im looking for a new adventure after the current league ends.

Outside of buying a bunch of stamina potions before you go there, that's not really possible on normal. Even if you get lucky enough to pick up a 25% faster rw mod on an item, it's not really enough to make much of a difference. Nightmare or Hell once you have much higher run/walk on gear or use the Enigma runeword for teleport, it's a piece of cake 😉
Cappacat TV full ik is so shitty dude I was so excited and made a full ik barb in HC I can barely kill stuff like council is literally hard as fk to kill, super disappointing
By socket quest. I use multiple twinked sorcs at first. Then i just started getting them from other chars I leveled up. 3 from druid. 3 barb. 3 amazon. 3 pally etc. Once you have the main stuff socketed like andies merc helm. Your shako. Tals armor etc you start to run out of the need to use sockets. Plus i usually mule a lot of gear between diff chars when i stream using plugy shared stash like my socketed shako etc.
@@Dbrunski125 yea my first couple of characters i used up all my sockets on dumb stuff and reset their stats and skills way too much 😂 im up to about 30 pages of saved items now ill just have to start up some of my low levels and use their socket quests
This might seem like a stupid question but how do you search for certain item like where to find/fuse them? I played this game 20 years ago, but never know how pro players farm for specific item set. btw, what do you do when you mess up skills or stats? without mod, my character practically became trash and couldn't even kill diablo on normal mode...

i dont understand saying verdungo would be good too but i think for pvm string of ears is better? they both have damage reduction but verdungo has extra vitality so its just better? and its "your opinion" i understand someone can have an opinion but its litreally worse belt than verdungo.
Damage on the two swords: 78+91 to 397+468 = 169 to 865 or *517 avg* Damage on the better rolled sword with 2h: 342 to 739 or *540 avg* @Dbrunkski125 why are you using both swords instead just the better one?
@5:45 or so, why 2 extra in natural res? Why not find potion and find item? Wouldn't you rather double your loot drops since you're broke? (obviously assuming that's why it's budget) Well, not double but 1.24X?
A duel leech ring is not an "average" ring. Heh. I've been playing since 2000 and I've never seen one drop. Mind you, I don't play 6 hours a day streaming, but for the average newb a dual leech ring is godly.
And 2 mals, 2 puls and an um for a "budget" build? A budget player will get 1 of those runes for their hell forge and finding another takes a LONG time.
Good insight man, I appreciate the feedback. Few points in regard to your questions. 1) I put a few extra points into extra res cuz I wasn't using a torch or anni so 2 extra points just helps give the barb a little more res. Cuz I didn't take the time to fill my inventory with res charms. If ibwas carrying a torch and ani I'd only put 1 hard point because of the res and skill bonus those charms give you (mentioned this in the video). 2) I personally consider that ring to be fairly budget. I've found rare rings with plus str attack rating dual leech and res. I've also crafted similar blood rings so in my eyes it's a budget ring. But I mean you could use a manald if you think the rare ring I used isn't budget. 3) Honestly everyone has different viewpoints on what is budget in terms of runes and what is not. I could find the runes to make oath from few hours of countess farming so in my eyes mal and pul is budget. The eth weapon bases are a little hard to find but again this is my take on what's budget. Some people have commented Ik set is budget on this video but tbh its harder to find the ik armor then the runes to make oath. I personally think this build is budget and a dual grief fortitude barb with full inventory of max dmg life ar charms to be godly. Again everyone has different view points on what is budget and not budget. Thanks again for the feedback and for watching!
Other than the fact that your barb is a product of your blizzard sorc, it's a great video. A real budget barb would be manald heal instead of dual leech, and find another couple weapons that don't include Mal. Heck, Reaper's Toll with 15ias jewel is valued at almost a Pul.
KSechrist yup I used gear I found of my sorc your correct. The character wasn't un Twinked but all the gear was self found tho off my sorc. No hero editor.
Single player normal, level 30 and I'm struggling at the beginning of Act 5. I've found some unique axe but the attack speed is so slow. It's getting very boring now.
I think I may be kinda late but, at that point in the game (Barb level 30+ goingo to nightmare and hell), I would respec my build and go with a Siger Barb

Yes you would hit more times, but wouldn't slowing your movement theoretically cause you to not damage the monsters you could be hitting?

WW Barb's were actually really overpowered in the first few patches. They nerfed a shit load of all that and added synergies I remember the day..

Its in path of exile as 'cyclone'. I played a bunch of cyclone characters in PoE.

Dbrunski125 i think half freeze duration is thr best thing for ww barb. You get unfrozen quite quickly.

Whirlwind barb wants to be decrep-ed frozen and slow! The slower he goes trough the enemies the more hits he lands and the quicker he kills em. Can you make a throwing barb? :D
I haven't played in years, started in 1.08 patch. But did health get a nerf? I remember barbs having atleast 6-7k health with Bo.

Hi! Sorry if it is obvious, I'm quite a beginner, but how do you manage your attack rating and mana until you get good enough legendary gear that takes care of it? You said that you don't invest in dexterity and energy, as your gear takes care of that, but what do you do until you get that gear?
You can invest points in weapon mastery early on, and use the bonus to boost AR from items, +AR charms, +AR rings. Diamonds in helm or armour, Amethyst in weapon, Set Angelic Ring and Amulet, Set Sigon's Visor helmet with any other piece, etc. An Eth rune in the weapon will cut monster defences by 25%, it also helps a lot.
Any item with mana steal helps, Gorefoot has 2% (Level 9), Manald Heal has 4-7% (Level 15). Rare weapons often have mana steal, or if you have a good weapon with a socket or two you can put Skulls in it. And mana potions.

How would you say this holds up compared to a full IK WW barb? I really like the IK stone crusher as weapon and feel the full set is quite powerful but I find it hard to compare it to builds using Runewords and such..
Edit: I'm asking this simply because I was lucky enough to recently have found the IK armor in the Throne of Destruction while playing SP with PlugY. I've cleared hell just now with the barb on players 1 and it was quite easy, but clear speed looks "only" similar to yours with this budget build..
I think this build is prob a hair better but the full IK set is really good. It has nice mf on it as well. Make sure you double shael you maul to hit fastest ias bp for whirlwind :)
I had two spare 15%IAS jewels so I put those in there. Considering my "main" is also a Blizz sorc and currently I'm working on getting my Zeal paladin up to the point where he can handle ubers I'm going to keep my WW barb with full IK. I'll start working on better gear when I'm at the level of using Grief etc :)

Thanks to the 40%IAS on the Maul itself, 30 additional IAS from the two jewels is enough (Indeed, I also looked it up)
What do you think about grandfather + storm instead of two oaks? Is grandfather better than oak?
Matti grand father is lot harder to find then making oath. It would work I'd have to check ias bp. Both balrog hits max ias bp for ww tho

My fave build. I think a more "budget" setup would be just using Tals mask and Angelics Amu + Ring. You need lots of AR with WW because you can't afford to miss or you'll run out of mana (like what happened to you during the Diablo fight). Cat's eye does nothing for WW imo. For a less optimized gear setup, you'd get more mileage with using a single 2H weapon for bigger damage numbers (not to mention that Dual wield doesn't do anything for your backup berserk attack). An offhand Oath doesn't add much imo.

One note tho, if you dont have, Ignore Target's Defense or -25% Target Defense on weapons, should get some attack rating elsewhere
Slight Adjustment how would you tweak the set up slight. I'm interested to hear your feedback
Oath is fine for mainhand since you hit the right frames on ww, and thats super important. But, i would wear a Death in the offhand, and use angelic amu, ring + raven.
Also i would get +3 bo sticks on swap instead of harmony. You can just use frenzy if you want to move fast.
Depending on where you farm, i would switch in a gface for more cb and ds, and switch duress out with a treachery for more res and dr. The 48 fhr bp is more than fine.
Also, when you encounter mana burn, the best counter you can do is use War Cry for the stun. Really important in baalruns aswell.
On singletarget its very nice to use battle cry untill merc procs hes decrep.
Last thing is gonna be, you need to do the DoD, Dance of Death. Small whirls in a triangle, if you want to max your damage, long whirls is mainly with mana burn where you whirl along the edge of the pack if they are not stunned.
Also, being frozen while you ww is bad, it cuts down your ias, wich meaning you will deal significantly less damage as it cuts the "hit-checks" down.
String of ears is BiS for ww barb in pvm :)

I tried Bloodletter, and the problem was the lack of range. All the bonus to ww is not much if you can't reach things. I'd rather have an Honor or Passion in something much longer. (Or an upgraded good Bonesnap with a Shael. :) )

If you know what kind of weapon you'll be using you can dump points into weapon mastery early on. Normal attack will take you to lvl 18, 1 point concentration to lvl 30. Or put a point in Mace Mastery and use good sceptres and mauls.
At least that was the game before they introduced the character reset option from Akara after clearing the den of evil. Now it's two sceptres with double swing until lvl 30, then reset.

Watching your content Im really intrigued to try and build up my own single player game.
It has been a long time and I played always very casually, not really reading too much about the builds I played and as far as I can remember Ive always quit my characters when hell started.
Is there a character/build (or generally a good site with builds) you can recommend, with whom I can start out to farm some gear in hell and then see from there, creating builds as I find the items needed.
Ive enjoyed the solo self found mode in path of exile lately very much and Im looking for a new adventure after the current league ends.

does the predetermined WW length you get from d2r controller mode take proper advantage of the free hits of the WW cast?

Outside of buying a bunch of stamina potions before you go there, that's not really possible on normal. Even if you get lucky enough to pick up a 25% faster rw mod on an item, it's not really enough to make much of a difference. Nightmare or Hell once you have much higher run/walk on gear or use the Enigma runeword for teleport, it's a piece of cake 😉
As for budget.... what is wrong with IK & lionheart? Angelic amu+ring raven you are good to go.

Cappacat TV full ik is so shitty dude I was so excited and made a full ik barb in HC I can barely kill stuff like council is literally hard as fk to kill, super disappointing

By socket quest. I use multiple twinked sorcs at first. Then i just started getting them from other chars I leveled up. 3 from druid. 3 barb. 3 amazon. 3 pally etc. Once you have the main stuff socketed like andies merc helm. Your shako. Tals armor etc you start to run out of the need to use sockets. Plus i usually mule a lot of gear between diff chars when i stream using plugy shared stash like my socketed shako etc.
@@Dbrunski125 yea my first couple of characters i used up all my sockets on dumb stuff and reset their stats and skills way too much 😂 im up to about 30 pages of saved items now ill just have to start up some of my low levels and use their socket quests

i dont understand saying verdungo would be good too but i think for pvm string of ears is better? they both have damage reduction but verdungo has extra vitality so its just better? and its "your opinion" i understand someone can have an opinion but its litreally worse belt than verdungo.
Damage on the two swords: 78+91 to 397+468 = 169 to 865 or *517 avg*
Damage on the better rolled sword with 2h: 342 to 739 or *540 avg*

@5:45 or so, why 2 extra in natural res? Why not find potion and find item? Wouldn't you rather double your loot drops since you're broke? (obviously assuming that's why it's budget) Well, not double but 1.24X?
A duel leech ring is not an "average" ring. Heh. I've been playing since 2000 and I've never seen one drop. Mind you, I don't play 6 hours a day streaming, but for the average newb a dual leech ring is godly.
And 2 mals, 2 puls and an um for a "budget" build? A budget player will get 1 of those runes for their hell forge and finding another takes a LONG time.
Good insight man, I appreciate the feedback. Few points in regard to your questions.
1) I put a few extra points into extra res cuz I wasn't using a torch or anni so 2 extra points just helps give the barb a little more res. Cuz I didn't take the time to fill my inventory with res charms. If ibwas carrying a torch and ani I'd only put 1 hard point because of the res and skill bonus those charms give you (mentioned this in the video).
2) I personally consider that ring to be fairly budget. I've found rare rings with plus str attack rating dual leech and res. I've also crafted similar blood rings so in my eyes it's a budget ring. But I mean you could use a manald if you think the rare ring I used isn't budget.
3) Honestly everyone has different viewpoints on what is budget in terms of runes and what is not. I could find the runes to make oath from few hours of countess farming so in my eyes mal and pul is budget. The eth weapon bases are a little hard to find but again this is my take on what's budget. Some people have commented Ik set is budget on this video but tbh its harder to find the ik armor then the runes to make oath. I personally think this build is budget and a dual grief fortitude barb with full inventory of max dmg life ar charms to be godly.
Again everyone has different view points on what is budget and not budget.

Other than the fact that your barb is a product of your blizzard sorc, it's a great video. A real budget barb would be manald heal instead of dual leech, and find another couple weapons that don't include Mal. Heck, Reaper's Toll with 15ias jewel is valued at almost a Pul.
KSechrist yup I used gear I found of my sorc your correct. The character wasn't un Twinked but all the gear was self found tho off my sorc. No hero editor.

Since Patch 1.13 they don´t cast iron Maiden anymore, so Chaos is save to farm now.

The fire damage from Enchant turns them red.

Single player normal, level 30 and I'm struggling at the beginning of Act 5. I've found some unique axe but the attack speed is so slow. It's getting very boring now.
