Sassy in Dead Or Alive, but stoic and wise in Ninja Gaiden. Yet, they miss up the two personas of Ayane in Razors Edge. I say nope. Good video, Zakku.

No child should ever be treated like how her clan did her.

I hate the retconned dynamic between Genra and Ayane.
In the OG DOA3, Genra was subjected to experimentations by DOATEC, and Ayane took it upon herself to deal with Genra alone, putting off her hunt for Kasumi and even facing off against Hayate to do so.
Even before the fight, she calls out to him as "Father" and "This one... is for you...".
I admit to liking the moment she shares with her mother, but that doesn't erase her history with being ostracized and her only guardian figure being Genra.

I’m confused as to why she so jealous of Kasumi when she was there for her

@@KarmaTube5 Because of her scarred birth, which was Genra and the atrocities he committed, it's a human nature thing to scorn anything related to a criminal, especially if that relation is blood.
When her mother revealed to Ayane that she was her mother, Ayane came to understand her position in the family and in the clan. She would never stand in the light of the main clan, which is why she became a Hajinmon. The darker/dirty side of the clan.
Thinking about it now, I think in the OG version of DOA, I don't think she was specifically mad at Kasumi, only her ill-fate. Kasumi being her target and the daughter of the clan head served as the perfect figure to vent.
I think this is why she was able to put Kasumi as secondary and let her go when Genra became a subject to put down, and when she stopped Kasumi from endangering herself when attempting to save Helena, either of her volition, or on Hayate's behalf.
Regardless, I don't think she hated Kasumi, just the circumstances. Plus, given the nature of her position, she is required to be more merciless and strict when it comes to her tasks, and punishing heretics and traitors is a duty for the Hajinmon.
In the reimagined story from Dimensions onwards, the job apparently becomes more personal and comes off as a personal betrayal until her mother consoles her, in contrast to Ayane maturing and becoming stronger from losing her family.

I agree with you this DOA dimensions spoils the story. DOA Kasumi defeats raiduo without hayabusa's help now hayabusa helped her win. Its takes away from their feats

@@thekid8224 Rewatching DOA3 Kasumi ending and her DOA4 ending, it also hints, if not make obvious, the fact that they live under a strict code, that even Hayate has to adhere to, for their peace and secrecy. Especially since he's the clan leader, he has to prioritize his clan over his sister, because that's the role he's been given, and have accepted.
For Kasumi, she has to acknowledge that she'll never be free from being hunted as a runaway ninja. She'll never truly gain the freedom and liberty to swim in the ocean.
For Ayane, as someone who has never had anything but a father figure, losing Genra was the most painful thing for Ayane. She shed tears for Genra. Something she had never done in the series until Dimensions. She didn't even cry when she found out she was a bastard, and why she was outcasted.
But, though she shed tears, she still looked forward because she had to as the next head of the Hajinmon branch. And as the group responsible for the "dirty work", she had to be hardened.
      That said, though she grew as a ninja, the experience of loss also helped her grow as a person, as shown in DOA4 when her objective wasn't to kill Kasumi, but to prevent her from;
      1. Getting in the way of the operation, which she failed to do.
And 2. Stopped Kasumi from taking the risk to save Helena from the burning and collapsing DOATEC Tower.

Ayane was jealous of Kasumi because she understood that she had the life that she never had and will never have. She also doesn't like how Kasumi is always favored ("You've always been the heroine...").

Ayane and Kasumi were always my favorite characters when I first played dead or alive. But I was so young when my brother taught me how to play so I didn’t understand. So imagine my surprise when I found out the two were sisters, well half sisters but still sisters
