    I have purchased the 11.8 ghost edition SVB cuetec. I play 2 hrs each night and it is a great cue. I am intermediate level. Never played with a smaller tip before usually 13mm. But this 11.8 mm gets you in trouble quick. If your beginner i would not play with 11.8. You will have more consistant results with the 12.5 or larger. Think of it this way. The best players in the world try to use spin the least as possible. Or minor spin to reduce CIT. Cut induced throw. If your a beginner you will find it frustrating to shoot a very narrow tip. While trying to put little to no spin on the cue ball. So i conteract this instead of say 1 tip of right spin. I would use 1/2 tip of right spin. But the beauty of this shaft is it stays narrow the same width for a large portion of the shaft end. But all in all i wish even at my skill level i would of bought the 12.5mm But it is a great cue. Well finished just get the 12.5mm. Trust me. Its more forgiving.
    Its about pocketing balls and not how much spin you can generate. Good luck

    This was by far the best review I've seen on this cue. I only wish I would have watched it this morning. I just ordered my cue today.

    *BEST REVIEW ON THE INTERNET. GLAD YOU SAID DIDNT NOTICE MUCH SPIN DIFFERENCE. BEFORE THE ARGUMENT WAS A LARGER TIP HAS MORE LEATHER TO SPIN THE BALL*

    Excellent review, much appreciated. After watching I think I realize now why I am having trouble with long shots with the 11.5mm skinny shaft on my Purex HXT101 that I got a week ago. (Side note: listing description said 11.75mm in , but the one I got measured at 11.5mm on my digital caliper.) I think need to work on more accurately hitting center on the vertical axis to avoid unintended spin. Also, I've been eyeballing the Cuetec Cynergy Truewood models, they look fantastic in product images, and even nicer in your video.

    I went through the same tests with Predator 11.8 and 12.4 and kept the 12.4.
    I was making somewhere about 5-10% more shots with it and it felt better based on my hand size. I mostly use closed bridge. Also for whatever reason with the same tip it felt like I didn't have to hit the ball as hard to get the same follow or draw. Somehow Van Boening, both Ouschans, Woodward etc. seem to do fine with it. Matter of fact with Predator it seems all the pros are either using the 12.4 or the 12.9 Revo.

      5-10% better? I haven't found a cue that makes that much difference. But maybe it's just your style. Also, Woodward uses a wood Cuetec Avid 12.25 shaft.

    Great review. Now i inderstand why i miss more with my 12.0 tip shaft than with my 12.5. Before i really couldnt figure it out but not i confirm that thinner diameter shaft used to magnify unwanted spins.

    I just bought a 11.8 cynergy and coming from 12.5, stock shaft from cuetec, I'd say that I'm pretty impressed with the performance of the shaft. Puts more spin more power and overall makes it easier to put spin on many shots. Honestly was skeptical at first specially for the very thin diameter and taper but it turns out, i find it better as compared to playing with the 12.5. I'll be shifting to the 11.8 but will be keeping my 12.5 just in case. Thanks for your video, helped me alot in making ne decide to buy the shaft as an upgrade.

    I bought the 12.5 Ebony a few months ago, and had the same issue finding a local store to try before buying. I highly recommend ordering the maximum weight available, as the weight bolts are easily removed, and then you can experiment with a heavier or lighter cue.

      THT IS ADVICE FOR ANY CUE. CAN SIMPLY CUT THE BOLT DOWN. OR BUY A BOLT IN A HARDWARE STORE TYPICALLY 3/8 X 16 FITS EVERY CUE. DIAMETER AND THREADS FROM MNFR.

    I agree about the stiffness or difficulty of screwing together and undoing the Cuetec joints, it’s no Uniloc. But once it’s tightened up it really makes a solid joint!

  • @miketaylor7023
    @miketaylor7023 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have to clean the pin with paper towels and rubbing alcohol. Then repeat with the shaft threads. keep repeating with clean paper towels. Then get some fresh soft carnuba wax and fill the threads of your pin and twist your poolshaft gently onto the threads as far as it will go until it gets stuck or the friction increases to the point of increased force to twist your shaft onto the pin. If that happens STOP and untwist the shaft . Then add some more fresh soft carnuba wax to the pin threads and repeat. Do that as many times as necessary until the shaft glides onto the pin all the way until there's a secure connection. Then check it a few times by screwing and unscrewing your shaft. Especially with any kind of wood or phenolic shaft inserts and on many brand new cues depending upon the cuemaker . Also you should constantly keep your paper towels handy and sufficiently wet but not soaking wet to continuously wipe the joints down and top of the pin ,sides of the cue too, so the carnuba wax does'nt get applied to everything and get greasy attracting dust and dirt along with grease while your doing this. The idea is to leave an ultra thin film of carnuba wax on the pin threads and within the shaft insert only that you cant see or feel. You want to wipe the buttfacing with the pin and the top of the pin with alcohol along with the inner shaft threads slightly after you're done. Before you do that though you want to take a paper towel and a jewelers screwdriver or another skinny tool that fits loosely into the shaft threads and very very gently clean the borehole of any globs of carnuba wax left in there. You don't want to scratch or damage any wood or phenolic shaft threads so use a soft gentle touch when you're performing that maneuver. Even your metal pins and metal threaded shafts are going to be a similar process of maintaining your pin and shaft threads on all cues generally. Some cuemakers cues you may not ever need to do anything ever to maintain the pin and shaft connections. But that's a rarity. More often than not you're going to get a hack job out the gate. And probably an attitude too. But that's the way it goes in pool. If you started playing pool ,welcome to hell.

    I feel the smaller tip looses accuracy the longer distance shots. I have 11.7 and 12.25 tips. I had the 12.5 but I like the smaller tips for shorter distance shooting.

    *_EVERYONE IS BUYING 11.8MM SHAFTS SINCE SVB SAYS HE PLAYS WITH 11.8 BUT REMEMBER HE ALSO SAYS HE PLAYS WITH THE 12.5 AND 12.9 AS HE HAS ALL 3 SIZES IN HIS CUE CASE._*
    ISNT THE 11.8MM TOO SMALL TO FEEL IN BRIDGE. WOULD IMAGINE HAVE TO MODIFY YOUR FINGER BRIDGE TO HOLD A SMALL DIAMETER. COMING FROM 12.7 WOOD. REMEMBER WHEN 12.75MM , 314 WAS THE BIG THING!

    I'm currently using a 12.4mm Local Made CF shaft and considering the CT 11.8, i have heard many opinions on the pros and cons, some people say its harder to pot balls with smaller diameter shafts, some people say otherwise. Can someone tell me pros & cons of using an 11.8 coming from a 12.4? Thanks.

    Great video! Just wondering if there's any difference in the weight balance of these two shaft? I mean shaft only when it was not connected to the butt. I used to play with predator revo but the revo has a forward balance that makes the tip too heavy. So i'm thinking to switch to cynergy if it has better shaft balance(balance point closer to the joint).

    • @Driver732
      @Driver732  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Around the 8:48 mark, the center of balance on the 12.5 is further toward the front but not by much. The 11.8 would have the balance closer to the joint but in all honesty I did not notice any difference between the two.

      This is definitely for snooker balls or smaller pool balls, so a direct comparison with the 12.5 of 11.8 is not really valid. The taper is different as well. Yes, I would be interested to see a review as well though.
