I am not a mountain climber but I enjoy trout fry fishing so I often meet climbers while I am looking for nice streams or lakes among mountains.
Not only fishing I enjoy surrounding natures as well like you do.

This reminds me I really need to start planning my next trip. Flights to JP are booked but that's it for the moment.
And about the Jr Pass for tourists, it is really handy but also expensive. To get your moneys worth out of the one week pass you really need to make 2 Shinkansen trips, if you only are going to take some local trains you will be better of with buying tickets.
I agree, you have to do the math and you have to carefully check if the JR pass saves you money.
If you are planning to go to Kyoto or somewhere, that already costs more than a 1 week rail pass but indeed, I should have be more clear in the video. I don't recommend it if you just stay around Tokyo or use normal trains all the time. :)
@@MaaikeInJapan on my previous visit I used it to go from Tokyo to Fukuoka and then did 2 more daytrips. One from Fukuoka to Kyoto and one from Fukuoka to Hiroshima. And then you see how convenient it is. Did it all with unreserved seating and had plenty of space. Even for that first trip where I did try but could not get a reserved seat (final Sunday of golden week) . I'm still thinking about taking a 2 week pass next time but find it a bit more challenging to find a proper route to travel with it and still do other stuff I'm thinking about.
