I love, love, love this performance. I recall seeing this show in its first broadcast. It is evident that Diana, while in her outstanding performance mode, was also giving directions to the sound guys that she needed to hear more of her voice (or maybe even the instruments) through her monitor. She didn't miss a beat. When she came back on to do "Voice of the Heart" later, you better believe she probably heard herself very well as evidenced by how upfront the her vocal was in the mix. LOVE IT.
LOVE this song - the last great dance track Diana did - Take Me Higher should have been a HUGE hit, but Motown did NOT promote it properly. Too bad. Miss Ross rules here and in the music video.
