Youuu sonoofaab$%! you DID IT! thanks dude, really, I was struggling cause CNAME was not accepting the url with "/" so I did it with CF and followed your tutorial and worked! So this is for all the people whi is in the comment section looking for someone saying "is not working" find the full article and follow the steps and re check cause it took me 2 times to make it work. Thanks.
100% was my issue. Then the page rules confirmed the correct path. When something does not work, the other coponents could be right, bt then get mucked up with changes that were not necessary, when trying to debug.
as far as the search engines are concerned (which is what i assume you are asking), as long as your page is 1. redirecting to the new URL destination & 2. the original "request" sends a response code of "301" --- no, there is no difference. do whichever you feel more comfortable with. are there any performance or cost differences? i don't know that'd be something to test. but probably not worth the effort unless your doing a super huge amount of 301s.
great video! Does cloudflare automatically add the A record @ (different IP address from the SOP) and the CNAME www now? I already had those two in my DNS and Cloudflare won't let me add more.
did you buy your domain somewhere else and point it to cloudflare? it will usually inherit your previous DNS records to avoid causing you interruption.
@@devinschumacher yes I did and I did en up needing to delete the old DNS records. I got everything working and your video definitely helped. thank you!

You sir are an interesting fella, I never thought the video that would help me with cloudflare redirects would also be the one mentioning standing and pooping. Thanks
Dude this fucking saved me. I've been trying to fix this shit for MONTHS. I had to do a little more playing around but this lead me to my solution. Thank YOU!
I changed permalink structure from default: ?p=123 to Post name: sample-post/ Site is pretty new but was indexed before this change. What do I need to do, to completely index the site with brand new permalink structure? (It completely lost it's visibility, though the site does exist on google and are active.)
if its new it will take longer. more links = re-indexed and ranked faster. i assume you 301d each URL from the old one to the new one, yes? i would just focus on doing seo like normal, improve interlinking on your site for faster re-crawls, & submit your updated XML sitemap to google search console with the new URL structures. and did i say build more backlinks? always be building more backlinks.
this saved my life, thanks a lot, hey I just want to know how can i keep my domain name, when the redirect comes it changes the name but I want to keep my original url, is that possible with rules?
Is it possible to exclude some URLs from Forwarding URL in Page Rules? How would like to access to the WordPress backend of my old website and exclude /wp-admin from forwarding. Thanks 🙂
@@francescozaccagnini3063 if youre hosting the website for wordpress anyways you could just do the redirects via wordpress. or if you want to use CF -- are you using PAGE RULES or REDIRECT RULES?

Love the color scheme, Miami retro Neon! Man I really needed this explanation, I've been struggling with my cloudflare DNS setup for a while now. How do you feel about cloudflare as a provider in comparison to others?
Thank you man. Super helpful. I just wanted to forward a specific domain on my website to a product page on Gumroad. Didn't think I'd be listening to someone talk about how to poop standing up. It had me howling 😂For that reason alone. I'm going to subscribe. P.s I'm your luckily 1,000th subscriber.
Thanks Devin, really simple explanation, much appreciated, I knew it could be done, just did not know how! We moved our Website Builder/CMS and could not match URLs which was restriction on the new provider hence had to do a number of redirects :)
Greate video !!! Ths a lot!!!, how do you redirect a subdomain www.dev.sample.com of a domain www.sample.com to another domain --> www.anotherdomain.com ?
Same way! Just put that in the URI/URL field. Or if you want to redirect ALL subdomains (sometimes websites have a lot) you can use a wildcard character. For cloudflare I think it’s an asterisk ( * ). It would look something like: *example.com/*
@@CallRylee yeah that JUST changed that. been workin' for a year. i guess ill need to make an updated video when it stopped. and also yes, godaddy = 👹 death to

Yes you can setup excludes. But why would yo use forwarding your whole domain and using wordpress at the same time?
@@devinschumacher In case of an ecommerce you might need to access to old orders. I did not find a clear way do to that 😞

I’ve used this video instruction before and it worked perfectly, but for some reason now, I cannot get my domain to redirect to my website :(
Can you share some more information about what exactly you did? I could help you if I knew more.

yes just force https

set the subdomain in the page rule area!
SO HELPFUL. Thank you! I completely forgot about updating my nameservers first too.
