I really doubt he's going to kiss a child. I think he's just finally coming to the realization of the pain and chaos he's caused. He's become a spider that has trapped itself in its own web. The fact that you can see the guilt throughout this entire episode and his "test" on Lucas, shows. He sees himself reflected in Lucas, and finally he's coming to the realization that he had the same thing done to him, and it's caused him nothing but pain, and caused him to live an inauthentic life. He's miserable and I think he's finally starting to see it.
The devil works hard, but Carter works harder. Carter is unable to leave Lucas alone and stop subjecting him to psychological abuse. I can't wait to see this man locked up and away from children. He's unbearable.
