Would love to see you go after the lowest stress leaderboard. Make bridges under budget the safest they can be. Ya know, like an engineer lol
Maybe exact change so if the budget is 55000 the bridge is exactly 55000
he did one like that a few weeks ago if you haven't seen it.
Actually most engineers make things as cheap as possible, ad it is the bridge users fault if they go over the speed/weight limit.
@@sirmonkey1985He didn’t actually do lowest stress, he still made it as cheap as possible, but while also trying to never break it.
he already said that there is not a lowest stress leaderboard persay
At 21:00 it is a big kiwi (the Bird)
Matt.. I do believe that that structure you were asking about @ 21:00 is a Kiwi Bird. :) At least that is my guess.
That’s what I thought it was as well.
Indeed, it was made by creative Kiwi 😉
NOT a penguin! 😉
Damn, beat me to it.
it has to be
matt has become an architect with all these dangly roads
An engineer makes things that work safely and is the most efficient way. So whatever works best is engineered parts that serve no function is architecture a cosmetic item.
The Royal Court of Engineers is already preparing a letter in which they're taking Matt's degree away together with any earnings he has made from,m working as an engineer or using the word as marketing.
It's sad but has to be done.
That's what happens when you have a tight time limit. A lesson in giving your engineers enough time to do their job properly.
@@HashknightGamingthat aint safe brother
@@HashknightGaming Dude made a bridge with a jump when the game didn't restrict him to a jump. That's not safe.
21:00 is a Kiwi, a type of bird
My impression is that when Matt sets rules for himself in these challenges he regularly breaks them. That said, still entertaining and thumbs up for 30 minutes of fun.
He is consistent at least.
Nuh
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming25 seconds to go with way too much bridge to build, "uh I'll see you when it's done" cut to the end with a complete bridge 😂😂😂 still loved the vid matt
"Don't end up like Eric."
"What happened to Eric?"
"He ended up.... in the splosh."
*shudders*
I can't believe that Matt tried to solve a level called "Speed is Key" in 10 sec and missed the opportunity for a pun. ARCHITECT!
I like the Kiwi-bird that shows up around 20:53
Instead of 10s, 1m, 10m, maybe do 30s, 3m, and 10m for a tiny bit of breathing room. Very fun episode. It was fun listening to how excited Matt got about the bridge designs!
I should have checked harder, I just posted a similar suggestion. My suggestion was 1m/3 or 5m/10m though. But yeah even 30s would at least make that tier of the challenge something remotely doable, for sure.
Edited for missing "m."
21:00 I am pretty sure that is a Kiwi (bird). Especially given the creators name is Creative Kiwi.
This was such an interesting challenge!
However, I feel like you could make it even more interesting with a very small tweak. The 10 second "challenge" is practically a time killer. You can't gain any insight into the build, as you can't usually even get a supported road unless you just truss super fast.
I think the lowest tier should be the 1 minute tier. Then either set the middle tier at 3 minutes or 5 minutes. Leaving 10 as the top tier.
I know this results in more footage and thus more editing and so on, but I felt like it would balance things out much better. As it stands, the 10 second tier is mostly just a quick laugh and away we go to the 1 minute.
I do appreciate said laughs, of course. But yeah.
Thanks for all you do, Matt; I look forward to these every day!
BTW, if you are wondering what the text at the bottom of the niff tee sponsored solution which run very fast say AND I QOUTE " This isn't long enough for me to complain about the person who pays my bills and put food on me and my wifes table" But i can assure you he has said way more interesting things before i'll keep you updated on future episodes. Who know maybe rce is an architect who has trapped and engineer in his basement
Nice arch bridge for the 10-minute build! It is a BILF
lol
For a banana-bridge, you need to rise the end road-pieces slightly. Like this: ^----^
You want the tension to go into the rope instead of the road.
Pro tip: At the end and beginning of trusses move the top node either left or right to minimize the length of the vertical piece connecting them to the road.
Matt the secret architect slowly exposing himself. Phony engineer😂
24:08 always wondered, is pinching arch like this make it stronger? I have feeling, that it's putting more stress on flat sides of arch, but it's more of a gut feeling.
Your gut feeling is right. As being stressed by own weight (equidistant load) and traffic loads (real punctual, but also assumed equidistant spread loads) the momentum, which equals force times lever, maximizes in the middle of the bridge. Being supported only by the joints at the end of the bridge span the shear forces are the highest in the end pieces while the momentum climbs up in a parabolic shape with its' peak in the middle.
So in order to follow the flow of forces and minimize longitudinal tension as well as shear stress caused by shear forces the best shape to work with for your main supporting construction is the parabola (which often is simply named an arch). So if your road is designed to be the main supporting construction itself, it best might follow the parabolas' form.
As your road might become too steep near bridge's endings following the parabola's shape you often wont have any other choice than pinch your arch impairing your building's strength or adjust the road outside your actual bridge to your bridge's shape which also might cost a decent amount. In either way you have to make a tradeoff decision.
Disclaimer: I hope it's understandable since I'm not a native speaker but refuse to translate my whole text using search engines/AI.
@@MrPanurgos :O what a detailed answer! Thanks, all is totally understandable and very intresting :)
Totally unrelated to the video but I just heard a song called 24 Frames by Jason Isbell that says "You thought God was an architect, now you know
He's something like a pipe bomb ready to blow
And everything you built it's all for show, goes up in flames" I heard this an immediately thought RCE would have a heyday with this one!
the thing at 21:00 is probably a kiwi bird - the steel is the beak
It's called a Kiwi, not a Kiwi bird :) That thing you call a Kiwi is actually a Kiwifruit. Endless frustration as a New Zealander :)
@@ganashal wait arent 'new Zealanders' called kiwis or something like that tbh that makes me think youre not from new zealand
@@ganashal plus it is the bird
@@zylvre Lol. NZers are referred to as Kiwis in the same way the South African rugby team are referred to as Springboks, the Australian rugby team are referred as Wallabies, and (one of) the Los Angeles Football teams are referred to as the Rams. I'm reasonably sure deer and marsupials don't play rugby, and if a sheep can play football I'm impressed that they use 2 and 3 point stances instead of 4 points all the time...
Specifically, we are nicknamed for our national bird (which is awesome, and definitely more worthy of an un-explained name than that darned gooseberry 🤣)
Very fun concept! Would love to see more of this but maybe adjust the times to 30s, 2m, 15m bridges?
Every video.. you are becoming more and more architect
Yo your comment was copied by a bot
@@Johnyisme who copied
@@TheRTX3090I don’t exactly remember, the poster was a generic bot account.
This was fun to watch. We need to see you make the most over-engineered bridges. Like, go after the highest budget on a bunch of levels but in a way that isn't just obnoxious, you know?
6:30 yey my solution, finally featured
i really need to acquire a playlist with all of the songs sung during the engineering/building time montages so far🎼
I thinks it's a wedding ring. 20:57
I'm sure Ed would be proud of this engineering masterpiece 😅
One of my favorite drawing-channel tropes applied to bridges? YES PLEASE :D
21:00 that's a KIWI xD
21:02 That was a kiwi bird 😌
Also, "every day I'm learning something new but today it's not Kung Fu" is a line that Ed Sheeran is definitely jaelous of.
„Fear of trussing is the path to Architecture. Fear of trussing leads to anger towards engineering. Anger towards engineering leads to hate of Rules. Hate of Rules leads to Art.“
RCE probably…
I look forward to seeing Poly Bridge at the next GDQ.
2:43 whatever knocking sound or whatever it was gave me a heart attack
I think this might work out better if you start at 10 minutes, and decrease time from there so you have more of a chance with 10 seconds 😁
I love this channel. I love Matt, he is hilarious, but man do these editors make me laugh literally out loud!
Well done on the stonehengde tunnel getting approved
Yo RCE there's a phenomenal game currently on sale that i think would be right up an engineers alley. If you've not already heard of it, its called FrostPunk. Would love to see it represented on the channel especially with the second game being announced.
13:45 The NiffTea sponsored solution is a great representation of my headspace too!
I was beginning to wonder when TH-cam would say something to RCE about all the... Uh... Whistles and smiley faces
I've been doing the game using the budget in full, both in terms of money and in terms of materials (for levels that have limits on certains materials), and all pieces have to be supporting the bridge (i.e. you can't just dangle a piece of wood that doesn't do anything except cost money). It's a lot of steel arches and cable-staying, which makes for some pretty cool bridges.
The ten second bridge reminds me of exams. Just fill them out as fast as you can and at the end you can see your mistakes... Great video tho.
What? That is an odd strat.
this was actually such a good idea!!! nice video!! your content is on a level of its own always different even if it's the same game! very cool, have a good rest of the year!
These episodes give me hope for the future of engineering with all these strong engineering principles in the pack pages.
Ehhhhh, sick one RCE!!
21:00 Matt that is supposed to be a lazer kiwi bird
20:58 probably it's the gravier's mascotte: CIOP. A blu fatty bird.
That wreid thing on 2nd bridge gallery is a KIWI
20:55 They made a kiwi bird
14:03 The budget
Love your work
21:00 That’s a Kiwi
25:33 Hey Matt, I am hopping that you going to release your music on Spotify :)
A total bop.
13:50 the amount of 9’s and 6’s in the stress and budget is crazy
the funny thing is the 1 minute bridge in the thumbnail would probably be the 10 seconds bridge because you don't need to tweak at all
9:30 I've literally JUST realised you can change the material on the guide 😂
27:57 he acts as if the one before wasn’t exactly the same thing, but with his initials 😆
Best acapella yet.
Thank you so much for this channel 🙂
27:44 They were given an area to build in, and they did :)
ehehe creative Kiwi actualy made a Kiwi, nice job.
Minute, 10 minutes thats fine 10s can only apply to very specific maps it seems.
the "what is that" is a kiwi! the name of the person making it was also "creative kiwi" :D
I mean, to be fair, aren't the cheesy dangly road bridges basically just primitive rope bridges? You know the ones with the precarious wooden planks you step on that always break in movies? It's just that you don't have the hand rails and you are using a vehicle rather a pedestrian. So, in a way, it just goes to show that sometimes the most basic and primitive solution is the cheapest.
14:49 speed is key
RCE: That is not i do
🤣🤣
21:00 that's a pufferfish!
Wouldn’t it be more optimal for the force distribution to make an arched road rounder instead of pretty much two straight ends connected by a short round top? More like a quadratic function with a very small, negative leading coefficient, instead of a fourth or sixth degree function (which lead to straighter ends and a sharper apex)
love your vids
We need a video of every song compiled into one vid with the title of what real song is (not these are fake songs or anything I like them very much) :)
I can't believe you didn't see how efficient the cost was for the bridge @14:02, Matt!
My 5 year old loves watching these (I do too but he's always asking if there's new bridge review) and we both prefer the "slower" way of you just playing the level (no extra conditions. just go for a good score on the leaderboard). sidenote: we're from pittsburgh and my son says bride review on every bridge we go over (which is a lot) and he was super jazzed when you remade that bridge the other day.
love your work, keep on going, and polishing this channel! Will you make Bronislaw Malinowski Bridge from Poland?
Matt the secret architect slowly exposing himself.
Object at 21:00 looks like a Kiwi (as in the animal, not a person originating from New Zeeland!)
i think matt would like oxygen not included, its like a 2d survival colony game but i think as an engineer, RCE would enjoy sorting water and sewage etc
Its always fun trying to figure out the engineering song
Todays: shape of you by ed sheeren
21.00 - That looks to me like a bird with a long bill.
I'm still so amazed that you post everyday, so happy that you were randomly recommended to me by the algorithm!
Referrees be blowing that whistle 26:28
Absolute masterclass with the song mate
Your editors are brilliant 😗🤌
00:56 Ben is that you? I wonder how many will get it hehe
It’s a kiwi a New Zealand Flightless native bird
I like the timed builds, you should make more videos with a time limit on the builds.
Hello every engineering out there!!!
Did You play transport tycoon empire: City? Seems to be a nice all in one game - and even has BRIDGES!!! 😜
I swear these random songs you do are nightmare fuel.
love ur vids. btw can you make an album of all your bridge songs
The bridge songs are the only thing keeping you from becoming an architect
21:00 It's a kiwi bird!
I’m pretty sure there was a kiwi bird. The eye is obvious and the beak is red.
21:05 it's a kiwi bird!
I'm well impressed - managed to get Top 1% on LL-04 Cramped Quarters! 😁
20:54 looks like a qiwi bird
nicely done. probably a good way to keep rolling without getting stuck trying to make a cheaper bridge than aliensrock. He sometimes spends alot of time trying to get to half budget.
I love your videos
and your dog
Genuine engineering question, not criticism: why when you use the curve tool do you do two long straights with a slight curve in the centre rather than an equal angle between each piece?
Matt definitely did not abide by the time constraints most of the video 😂
RCE almost beating Tyler in under a minute is amazing
You are one of my favourite TH-camrs
as always, the different solutions are great.
hello mr engineer im a big fan i am here to ask have you seen the new update of mini motorways im playing it right now. So do you know of it
