  • Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks OBM shares a fascinating insight into the ambiguity of the narrative of the splitting of the Reed Sea (not the Red Sea, as commonly believed). The chief rabbi of England presents a deep understanding of the story that imparts a moral lesson, an everlasting message of the limits of technology and human achievement.

If something is explicable, does that make it any less miraculous?

Natural, for God uses nature to do his work. The only miracle was timing, right time and place.

This is why I stay away from bible inspired movies. They give you an interpretation of how things went, but their interpretation is expressed through imagery, which is more powerful than words as our memory is very visualistic. A lot of people think that the parting of the sea in the Exodus account happened suddenly (due to the 10 commandments movie) when in reality, it took all night to get to that point by the wind that God had caused.
