mkay, i think it get it so it seems to be a "vicious cycle" sort of thing, where every 6 or so years (the Groundskeeper mentions "it's been a few years" since the last Oxto came to the Mansion), the owner of the mask drops it off to someone who is accompanied by their partner. that new person puts the mask on, goes through the game, then reunites with their partner upon killing the Forsaken Heart. i suppose they believe that it's a "rite of passage" or a "spiritual journey" or something similar, who knows, maybe donning the mask and surviving the Mansion is what allows you to become a member of the Church Of Steel? (the gun-worshipping group that the Nun is a part of)
Fron what little ive pieced together fron lore pages, It seems to be less the mask being passed on and more the mask picking another person to appear to, someone with a loved one who the mask then takes as more or less a hostage to "Motivate" that person to fight through the manor. The mask has some sort of grudge against the manor, so the mask is trying to kill it but needs someone to do it. A note mentioned that the mask doesn't directly control the wearer despite granting them powers, which is why it """"motivates"""" the wearer by kidnapping their loved ones and telling them to kill the manor to get it back Considering the ending has our charcter keeping the mask, perhaps it means that since we killed the manor finally, the mask's grudge is fulfilled and it no longer seeks out new victims to throw at the manor
OTXO is a masterpiece. We'll probably have to wait a bit to get another game like this, if we even get one in the future. Lateralis really makes damn good games.
Feel like the Red Mask should have been a real boss fight. Like a mirror of Oxto's performance or he uses something like "The One" as his special thing and is hard to hit I dunno. Missed opportunity.
@@Fannigum if it was like that, it would've been like "Im you... but actually better" If you are far he might use an semi-auto weapon or an explosive. If you are medium-range he will use an automatic weapon. If you are close he might use a shotgun. And he will always try to dodge your bullets by moving quickly.
@@DIAMOND____ That would be a good idea if there's lore that explains how the red mask can store all those weapons in his suit, otherwise, the arena can be filled with said weapons occassionally mid battle, as if something's throwing them.
Great video, In my game I ended up getting a super broken build (quadrouple firing speed, no reload, double damage LMGs) and beat the final boss in less than 10 seconds. It was cool but I kind of missed out
I've been playing for five months without knowing you can buy more than one drink at a time. Today I found out by accident, and beat the game the very next run. The more you know, huh.
