Huge blessing that you got the house dried in before the snow came! Sorry the pipes froze. At least being from N Illinois you knew how to handle the snow.
The snow is definitely beautiful. We’re here in Newnan Ga ( outside of Atlanta) at the City of Hope cancer center. The whole area closed as well. It was a miracle for us because the center was to busy to do the biopsy. After the 2 day closure the schedule opened so my wife got the biopsy. Praise God. The house is looking, especially the roof. Good job thawing the pipes. Might want to construct a small insulated housing around the well to help prevent reoccurrences. This snow is a good experience for the kids and the animals. God bless you all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Really glad you taped the edges. Have seen many jobs where they don't. Just seems logical that the edges need it as much as the joints. How many rolls for the walls? How many for the roof?
Great Video!! Yes, it was wonderful to see Snow in the south again after so many years.❄️ 👍😊 Seems like y'all too received a good bit too. We had a nice two half days of snow in Louisiana. Now the rains have returned. 😁 Y'all have a great week!!
I've watched your channel fromday one and greatly enjoyed your enthusiasm, ability and work ethics but most of all your background music. I have about 50 channels that I subscribe to and yours is by far the most interesting to watch. Good luck with your adventure and keep sending out the video's. Stay safe, keep well. You now have the house dried in must be a big load off your mind, You will have a bit of tree trimming to protect the roof. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
The last few decades have been unusually warm in the Southeast. Before 2000 we would have temps in the low to mid 20's several times a year. All your exposed pipes need to be wrapped to keep from freezing and leave some water dripping. Might get another cold spell before this winter is over.
Sister and brother, I was hoping that you could get it dried in before the rain and SNOW got to you. Yes,it is easier if you pre dril the sheets of metal in the stack before you put them on the roof. Just a suggestion. Hope all is well and MAY GOD BLESS you and keep you safe.
Now I know where all our snow got to!! I think you have as much as we do and I am ok with that. You just keep it and shovel it and call it nasty names, May just have to invest in aa Snowblower for the Kubota, if this gets to be a regular thing. Roof looks good, well done guys!
We will rebuild the solar power system once the house is move in ready. Panels will be moved to a steel pole ground mount system. The angle is calculated based on our lattitude to maximize power generation in both summer and winter, so that won't change.
@@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid I mounted my panels at 20 degrees to make more power in the summer for cooling. Turned out I have more then enough power, it is winter that I run out with the cloudy days and using space heaters. In the process of mounting 9 more 450 watt panels, I will slope them at 36 degrees to make the most power in January. Putting them at the latitude just makes the most power in the spring and fall, winter is when you have short days and low sun angle. I have a personal weather station with a sun insolation meter. Right now in early afternoon it is 4.2, in the summer it will be 9.5 or more. My panels are making 8300 watts, in the summer they will make 11,000 watts. Of course you will be cooling a whole house with five kids and heating with propane. I just use window units and only cool the rooms I am in with just two old people.
Global warming doesn’t mean hot weather. Weather gets crazy because of global warming. Hot, cold, wet, dry, where it doesn’t usually happen normally. 😊
Here in South Georgia we have had snow 4 times in my 71 years. This was the worst. But hopefully it will be years before we get another !
Hello from Dominican Republic 😊
best part about snow in GA... 24 hours later it's gone. LOL Hope you and your family have a tremendous week. Look forward to next weeks show.

You should install hydrants for all your outside faucets. Good investment. 😊

We got about 4 inches and it's been pretty much gone now. It was definitely pretty though!
@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid 😊👍

Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate having you along for the ride with us 😊 lots more progress coming this year in 2025!

Lot of work even for the young.........
Merci pour une nouvelle vidéo bonne continuation sur votre maison ❤😂👍
Thank!
Maybe some small lengths of electrical heat tape covered with foam pipe insulation w UV protection.
This might have been mentioned before, but raise your panels off the ground. That way, the snow will fall off more easily next time 😉
Nice video my friends looks great will done 😊
The South got hammered more than CT. Frozen water can have devastating effects. Glad that You seem to have come through with only minor effects 😊
Yes, it was crazy amount if snow! We are blessed that it was only minor inconvenience and no major damage 🙏
Thanks for sharing
well welcome to the winter of 2025

Thanks Rick! Hope y'all are doing well!
Doing well here, thanks
Did you use the roller on the tape? Did I miss that?
Do you worry about falling through the roof osb when your standing in one spot? I think that would worry me more than falling off thw edge!
Looking great❤
Awesome tape job along with everything else. Your family is very blessed
Thanks, we really appreciate the support!

Haha, you can have it back now, thanks for letting us borrow it 😄
Hello from Northern Illinois. You want to send our snow back up to us, because we ain't got any and we miss it. 😅😅😅😅
Haha, you guys can have it back, please! We will be thankful to have our heat back 😄
Are you going to incorporate natural gas for into your off grid energy sources (for stove, dryer, heating etc.)?
That's the plan! We will be opting for propane, though.
Are you going with metal or shingle roofing?
Sorry, I was too impatient
I think beter do the tape direct after laying the sheets...... is drayed in then😊😊
Any plans to raise the solar panels higher off the ground and maybe a steeper slope?

You should time the zip time so we can fast forward the video...
Any plans to add a wind turbine to your power situation in cases of this snow covering the solar panels
Snow is actually pretty rare here and gone completely in a day or so. It's a treat when we do get it. Lol
Not right now. We almost never get snow! The locals tell us the last time it snowed was six years ago.
How long will the metal roof take to install
No idea, depends how long it takes to get here and how difficult it is for me to raise the panels up onto the roof.
It will be much faster than anything thing you the have done so far
@@DIYorDIE_Off-Grid
I got faith in you brother
Pre Drill Metal Roof And Use Fat Screws
That's the plan
So let ask everyone does feel like global warming to you it does look like that to me from I stand lol
😄
