O Canada is the national anthem of Canada since 1980. It was composed in 1880 by Calixa Lavallée and written by Adolphe-Basile Routhier in French, and by Robert Stanley Weir, in 1908, in English. It became the de facto National Anthem of Canada in 1939, serving with God Save the Queen as Royal Anthem.
This version of the song is sung by Véronic Dicaire, accompanied by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Chilly Gonzales on the piano.

I can think of several anthems that I Iike better than Canada's (Russia, Israel, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Belgium, and even God Save The Queen). But I don't particularly like the US and the Australian anthems either (I mean, musically speaking).

I sang this O Canada in English and pure French several thousand times already with my students where I taught badic french in elementary and high school department at the Westmead International School and caregiver students at the Goldrn Gate Colleges, Institute for Professional Health Care in Batangas City while in San Pablo City. Laguna at the FilCanadian Caregiver school and at the Saint Benilde College.

In Montreal, they tore down the statue of our country’s founder, John A. Macdonald. Why are they so ungrateful people
I also disagree with doing that. However, it’s not that they’re ungrateful, it’s that today he would be viewed as a massive racist, and they felt he was not a good symbol of Canada. However, in his time, he was a Canadian icon, and I think his actions need to be put into context. Again, I disagree with what they did, but it’s not that they were ungrateful.

I like the scene where two politicians who seemed to not get along put aside their differences and shook hands seemingly for the good of Canada. We need more of that sort of bi-partisanship in the present day in Canada, the U.S and the world in general.
I suppose they are supposed to be John A McDonald and George-Étienne Cartier, two of the Fathers of Confederation, but I am not sure.

@@BucyKalman pretty sure that's meant to be George Brown who was a political rival to Macdonald but temporarily did cooperate with him during the early talks of Confederation... Cartier was more of a close political ally to Macdonald
It made me smile too that two rival politicians shook hands and worked together long enough to found Canada and assemble its government for the good of Canada.
