I wouldn't mind the handbrake if it didn't interfere with the cupholder. If you make the mistake of getting a grande coffee, then when you stop at a traffic light, it lifts the cup, pulls the lid off and tips your expensive latte all over the centre console! 😡
Also, other cars do the lane change indicator and still have the click, you just have to not engage the click. What would help is if the car made an artificial click when the indicators cancel like you already get for the wipers. The problem is that the ticking is too quiet so you don't notice when it cancels. I actually failed a driving test because of this feature! 😭
Last point about the radio. Some models had the "CD30MP3" which didn't support Bluetooth but at least did aux, and mp3 cds, although I don't think many people were making those even back then.
    Here are my complaints:
-The wipers have no adjustment for the intermittent setting. If you want to have intermittent wipes, you have to push down, wait the required amount of time, then push once up. The maximum is 14 seconds, but it doesn't give you any indication as to when that interval is about to end, so if it's raining very lightly, you just have to guess. If you get it wrong, it defaults to 7 seconds and you get that horrible noise.
-The CD player sucks! Like, seriously, how can it be _this_ bad?! You'd expect a car CD player to have good error correction, and be able to handle CDs that have been a bit abused, but not this special snowflake. It skips all the time, refuses to play some CDs, and sometimes wont even give them back! Absolute garbage!
-The 12v socket is always on. That's fine, but it would be nice if one of the sockets was tied to the ignition. You can't run a dash cam off the socket, so you have to get an extension and splice it into the ignition feed under a panel in the centre console. It also makes putting in an aftermarket radio a pain.

This list is pretty bang on. I've got a 08 plate Zafira Life, and I'd like to go through this list.
    1. The build/material quality of the interior is terrible. Particularly around the radio and display. The hard, almost sharp edges are almost laughable. And the peeling. Oh, the peeling...
    2. The reservoir position is mental, but that's most modern cars. But to get to it, you actually would use a funnel and hose.
    3. The A pillar design is terrible, and ironically it seems less safe to have such reduced visibility. That little quarter light window does nothing.
    4. I never use the cup holder, but the general lack of storage is surprising. Standard BMW's from the time had those clever little fold in holders, which were just brilliant. Mine has a little net attached to the centre console panel in the passenger footwell, which I once put a pack of wet wipes in.
    5. I've never noticed the heater being that bad.
    6. I've always hated the handbrake. It's such an unnecessary piece of over design. I am going to be doing a 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... countdown when I set off now though. (I notice your Zafira is also missing the little cover for the 12v socket. With it's weedy little spring...)
    7. I've had the car for about 4 years, and I'm still not completely used to the indicators. I think the short setting is actually for leaving roundabouts rather than changing lanes, but then, like you, I would prefer a normal 'I'll turn off my own indicators, thanks' version.
    8. I like the CD player and radio. Could do with DAB now, but I've never used anything 'via bluetooth' let alone the phrase. I'm even thinking of putting a tape player in. I think that's just age...
    9. Like the commenter below said, drilling holes in the underside of the rear lightboxes is exactly what I did.
    10. Must have missed one, so here are some of mine. Ahem...
The gearbox is terrible. The wing mirrors are far too small for a car that size. The exhaust is old fashioned and noisy. There's no spare wheel, just a spray bottle that's now so old it probably won't work. The electrics are a bit rubbish. I've got an intermittent problem with the driver's side rear door either locking or unlocking (always the reverse of what you want it to do), and the filler cap solenoid failed and I had to pry the cap open. The interior light switch is dodgy as hell, so when you press it even lightly, it moves into the ceiling. Build quality in general.

Mines just gone over the 100,000 mark and I get 55 mpg or about 45 around town driving so I'm happy.

I become this evil foul mouthed woman who screams obscenities at the indicators on every journey! GRR! The lack of storage and cup holders.. silly. And the A pillar OMG! I have literally had 3 near misses where I've pulled out of a junction thinking the road was clear only to find a car right in front of me (hidden in the A pillar blind spot) I was convinced I was going doolally until I got into a zafira taxi and the driver said it was a problem all zafira drivers face. Now I am paranoid and very wary pulling out of junctions. 😠

  • @simoncurran6184

    You missed the biggest problem.
I've 3 young kids. One in a car seat and one booster. So for the eldest to assess the boot seat. She either crawls in from the boot. Or I take out a booster and fold down the back rest.
Because the entire bench is on one set of rails I can't flip the seat up and slide it out of the way.
Oh yes of course I could put the two car seats in the boot. And then sliding wouldn't be an issue. But putting a baby I in the back back. Without breaking your own back.
If only the two sides moved independently. Like every other 7 seater

I think my pet hate with my Zafira is that you cannot get an update for the satnav. With so many road changes, upgrades and new estates these days, it is a lottery as to whether you can in fact enter a postcode into the destination or not. Even roads that have been around for a decade (mine is a 2013 plate) it s absolutely no help

The issue you have is that this is not an executive model its an exclusiv. Its the entry level one so therfore no bells and whistles. I've had vauxhalls for years and they have all been good cars. I currently have a 2011 zafira Sri. So the handbrake on mine does have a nice silver trim on it its an extra, it does have the silver dash, its an extra, it also has checkerd flag silver door inserts. It has alloys as your does not, they make look like alloys but yours are actually wheel trims, mine has cruise control, elec mirrors, rear electric mirrors. They do have water and oil gauges but they are in a hidden menu. The issue you have is that yours is a completely entry level one. That's fine less to go wrong the point is your giving the little fella a hard time when its a cheap and basic little people carrier , judge it for what it is and you will be much happier

I agree with everything so far when my passenger, has a drink, they have to put it in their lap because there's nowhere to put it, if we pull into Starbucks, I'm going to work, I have a large cup, it doesn't fit in the tiny diameter cup holder because the holder is too small and the one that does fit in there is a thermoscup, it is too tall, so the handbrake is in the way when I lift it up or take it down, it jams on the cup. Clearly not thought out,
on a number of occasions the cup lid is knocked off my drink and sent my coffee all over the handbrake.

I've also got the 1.8 exclusive. Taken me all over the country. I retrofitted, cruise control, bluetooth and roof bike racks. Would be irritating without it.
It has taken 5 bikes a family and their luggage to Scotland effortlessly.
The bits that irritate me is that it doesn't have an economy gear so cruises at 3k on the motorway. That said, it isn't a diesel so 3k gets it up the hills without changing gear. 70k on the clock and drives better than the day I bought it with 6k on the clock. Also ULEZ exempt. Oh and paid it off long ago so cheap motoring.

VW managed to utilise the space better than what vauxhall did, by making the car look more compact rather than make it look taller. I thought i didn't have an AUX input on my 2008 Zafira B 1.9, because my friend didn't have one for his Zafira B and i thought that it was ridiculous for a year 2008 7seater. But then i noticed a hole on the panel, under the handbrake and it is actually an Aux input. Bought a AUX - to - Bluetooth and connect my phone to the car.
Still, what a stupid thing not to include in other variants of this car.
Cupholder - also grinds my gears. Only thing that fits are Mcdonalds big drinks.
The pillars - almost ran someone over when driving out of a parking lot and barely avoided an accident because of the huge pillars. Now i always bob and weave my head left and right before making a sharp turn, just to be sure, nothing is behind that pillar that i don't see.

Had mine 3 years and still can"t get used to the indicators. I was surprized when i bought a petrol filter only to be told this car does not have one "WHAT". I"m on my second ECU because they sit on top of the engine and the heat cooks them. I almost sent a motor cyclist on a roundabout to the pearly gates because of vision probs with them posts. Its ans Exclusive, NOT executive mate
    1) all cars interiors like this in this sector are plastic. Scenic, zafira, s max, touran etc. It's there cos it's hard wearing, wipe clean and ready to take a battering from a family with kids
    2) piano black I think is nice, personal choice though. You can buy all the trim in silver (same as the bit above the glove box) for £30 and fit it in 15 minutes
    3) brake reservoir- use a flexible pipe if you need to top it up -pointless moan
    4) A pillars, agree with you. Horrid blind spot but there for safety
    5) cup holders - yes 1 front one is shit. But there is a mod where you can have two pop out of the silver trim above the glovebox. Theres also 2 in the middle row and two by the rear most 2 seats. That's 5. If you pay £20 for the cup holder mod, you'll have 7.
    6) blowers/fans. Nothing to do with recall. Your thermostat is stuck if your driving for 20 minutes and the car is only getting lukewarm. You need a £20 thermostat and a screwdriver to fix it. I work 14 miles and 15 minutes from my house, by the time I've driven a mile in the middle of winter my heater is blowing boiling
    7) handbrake. Thunderbird are go is a problem with your mind. Not the car. I'd rather have a handbrake like that than an electronic one
    8) the stalks... I like them. 1/2 a push for 3 flashes, whole push for constant. Not hard to get. Personal preference though. Wipers. If you had anything more than a mid range model, you'd have auto wipers on 1 flick.. but we'll get to models in a minute
    9) no aux or Bluetooth. its a low model.. I lost count of the amount of times you called it executive when it's an exclusive. There's no such thing as an executive zafira b. Top model for comfort and toys is elite. Top model for performance and toys is vxr. Who specs sat nav these days when you have a phone with constant up to date maps and mirror link on your head unit
    10) condensation on the lights. Design fault. Remove unit, drill small hole in base. Solved.
    Trim levels are as follows
    1) Base - expression
    2) life
    3) excite
    4) active
    5) active plus
    6) energy
    7) exclusive
    8)breeze
    9) breeze plus
    10) club
    11) design
    12) Sri
    13) elite
    14) vxr
Sounds to me like you don't really know what you've bought... I own a 2011 elite. Full heated leather, Bluetooth, aux, climate control, front and rear parking sensors etc etc. I bought it 7 years ago and done 60k and it's not gone wrong once. I'll I've paid out for is tyres and a set of brake discs.
By no means am I a vauxhall fan, but this video is just a bloke moaning about stuff he hasn't got, when he's driving a model that's mid range at best... you don't even know the name of your trim level.. exclusive, not executive mate. If your going on the Web to rate something, know your stuff first - or buy a higher model??

Now on 150,000 miles, and apart from a set of tyres, and a couple of sub-frame bushes (cheap) never missed a beat. If your car's not heating up, you've got issues with the engine thermostat, or something similar.
