Tom at Cowboys chat said it best. If McCarthy didn’t earn an extension after three 12W seasons, how could he have improved his chances with this season’s results? As an emotional fan, Mike had to run over the opposition in the first rounds of this year’s playoffs to erase the stink of the GB loss.
The mentality of who else are you going to get is the same reason they resigned Dak. If you already know someone can’t get you to the next level it makes no sense to continue with that person and expect a different result. It’s called insanity.
If Jerry Jones held onto Jason Garrett for 10 years what makes you think he is going to get rid of Mike McCarthy after 5 years? 😂 Jerry Jones lives in Lala land.
Mike the OC has to go regardless of if that's the whole package or Mike the HC stays and they bring in a capable OC. Mike the OC is terrible and needs to be relieved of duty.
He honestly just strikes me as a made-man type of guy who earned millions as a coach, has a super bowl under his belt and just goes through the motions to keep making more money. He's got a SB with GB, head coach for Dallas with multiple 12-5 seasons... SB with one storied franchise, winning seasons as HC of another... His clock management at times has been so sub-par, along with recent play calling. I just don't think he cares too much since he's already made it. Like a player who's had a couple big contracts but is old and knows they will retire soon so they stop playing hard.
Weren't our 12-win seasons all about beating up tomato cans?and whenever we faced someone actually good, we'd still lose? Is this about winning in the playoffs or is it not? When you don't have a coaching advantage against any playoff-calibur teams, that's a problem.
I'd like to one day be able to discuss the percentages that Jerry Jones will retire and sit down in his owners suite and STOP talking! He is in constant NEED of attention ALL the time...its Crazy!🤦♂️ McCarthy will remain because he is a "Yes Sir...No Sir" coach. He will not question Jerry/Stephen's poor player personal decisions. So...Jerry resigns Big Mac! 2025 Prediction: Same as 2024 & Jerry makes another billion ($).
What SHOULD happen is that McCarthy is allowed to walk and Jerry hires Ben Johnson. Cause if he can turn Goff into the dude who was drafted #1 overall when Goff had only shown glimpses of being THAT dude....then he is your BEST BET to get the most out of Dak. And honestly, that's like the ONLY option Dallas has for any legitimate hope of competing past the divisional round. Dak has this team hostage with his contract so you HAVE to get a guy who has gotten more out of a lesser QB (or at one time surely was seen as less than Dak). But Jerry has stated that he's not paying NFL HC money for someone to "learn on the job". So Jerry is gonna give McCarthy a 3 year deal.
Stopped reading at "Ben Johnson". It's not going to happen. Just stop. No one with a brain is coming to Dallas and with good reason. Stop drinking Jerry's Kool-Aid.
@jimmygreer2140 You had me until the end. Great initial points. You want to excite the fan base, hire Ben Johnson and Jerry could truly begin to say he's all in.
I think the same thing. Jerry will bring Mike McCarthy back (unless Mike feels the new deal doesn't provide enough security). Ben Johnson would be the guy I'd want them to hire.
@jimmygreer2140 People who are saying that it's clear that Jerry is bringing McCarthy back are dismissing one thing that we all know is true: Jerry is about making money. The anger and apathy in the fan base is real! Trot out this same sh*t show next year and fans are going to revolt. Attendance, merchandise sales, the Cowboys' brand , all will suffer. That would hit Jerry where it would hurt him the most. His money.
@@therealdarrell282 He has a ring with Tampa Bay after being traded there as a coach. Then beat his former team that traded him the Raiders, in the Super Bowl. That was good IMO
@@therealdarrell282 I'm off topic? I made a comment about who the next possible coach could be. Jerry has said he likes experienced coaches with "skins on the wall" and a Superbowl Title is the best type of skin available and Gruden fits that description. I didn't say he did anything good with the Raiders. It would be a Big Splash and Jerry loves that.
Garrett was a learn on the job coach. Kept him for 9 years. Sign Johnson to a 5 year $100 million contract with two void years. This organization desperately needs a refresh. When was the last time Dak threw to a wide open receiver?
I rate McCarthy as an Average-Above Average HC (depending on if he has to make a difficult call late in the game). So to get better, you have to go for it with a younger phenom OC or DC. But that means Jerry would have to make a difficult decision and he’s terrible at that (re: Dak’s overpaid deal for what you get in return from Dak). So I expect McCarthy back (which I hate). He took over a very talented (roster-wise) team but hasn’t advanced them in the Postseason. I’d go out and hire Ben Johnson. A great HC will immediately change the culture and take the team further in the Playoffs.
Same as the most successful college teams... They just have more talent than other teams. When you build a team and not use every means necessary as in adding no top free agent players and giving up a 4th round pick for a player that was not even a starter and paying a QB that doesn't have elite arm talent and can't run...
My guess is he’s 100% gone! And Jerry said in your interview with him , he like to zig while everyone zags . He’s not gonna pick anyone we are talking about , except for Deion Sanders . But a younger guy I can see coming
Doesn’t matter what coach we get still not going to change the end result. Also, need to find Dak replacement as I just don’t see him getting any better after the torn hamstring and his bionic ankle.
It doesn't matter what coach Dallas gets because Jerry is still gonna control everything he can. He shouldn't be on this show every week telling everything.....respectfully
Only person who is better than McCarthy is Vrabel. No point in replacing McCarthy with just another HC. Vrabel will hold the team accountable and tough.
Jerry is predictable. We had a Super Bowl winning coach already and he was FIRED. Who would want to be humiliated like that by an incompetent ego maniac?
@ Let it go? Jerry is holding on to this moment as if it was last year. Think of him as Rip Van Winkle. He just woke up after 30 years sleeping. Jerry actually thinks he’s doing a great thing for the team. He’s ignoring the past mistakes and living in the ’90s.

McCarthy has been left behind with the new NFL, but until Jerry and trust fund kids are gone it doesn't make any difference who the coach is. Jerry Jones is the laughing stock of the NFL!!
In the last 5-7 years I've become a lesser involved Cowboys fan. Can't wait for Jerry to be gone.
Same, second year in a row in which I didn't watch a game
Stephen is just as bad if not worse
🤣 Stephen is running the financial side of this team. Nothing changes!
