Im always a step ahead of these vids. I didn't front squats this morning. This was one of the better informational videos. Usually they come across so awkward. But I guess if you have a team of introverts that's bound to happen lol. Good job team animal!!
This was very well explained and a great video overall. Since this is Animal, I was looking forward to him performing it with some moderate weight... Like at least 315. Still gave the video a Thumbs up. #StrengthTeam
I enjoy front squats but I've always wondered if they really work the quads more effectively than the back squat. I've read a couple of studies saying that there is no significant difference in muscular activation between the two. From personal experiences I get more sore in my quads after back squat sessions. And since you are able to handle heavier loads on the back squat, it seems like these will be the better squat for hypertrophy goals. I see front squats more as a tool to further improve your squat form and to learn to maintain the upright form (this will be mostly beneficial to high bar squatters). One benefit to front squats though is the lower amount of stress on the knees.
+Jesus Heyzeus I dont think theres any big difference in ROM between a deep high bar squat and a deep front squat When it comes to depth, yes its easier to get very deep in the front squat but you could just as well do it on back squats.
question for the internet: I am a powerlifter, and squat is my best lift, surely this means strong legs/glutes? If so, why is my deadlift weak off the floor since those are the primary muscles used in the very start of the deadlift?
Ronnie Coleman would front squat 800lbs. in the same exact way shown in this video and his collarbone was fine. It's not just the collarbone but the meaty/muscle of front delts.
Does the camera man even lift? Its like he has no clue whats important to show when Jay is trying to explain things. Zoom that camera out so we can actually see what hes showing us. For goodness sake its about squatting. Why are we zoomed in on his face and chest the most of the time???? Some of the exact same problems in the Dan Green video

Good information, i always do the front squat cuz my lower back and my spine began to ache with back squat...

can you get dan boss green to have his big on the basics with front squats? or maybe more in depth on them
Dan Greene did one. It's 7min. 4sec. long. 🙂
above the collarbone? so lying on top of it? eventually it will break, right? what i learned, is against your collarbone, which is correct?

nice!
when does that iconic blue Animal shirt sell?
Yes. I have one. Oddly enough.
right now I'm 140 and trying to get at 180
+Black A.M pounds or kilo's?
David Chrapla pounds so I can get a better control when powerlifting
+Black A.M Oh ok so your doing this for squatting in PL. Good start so far. Hard training and 3months should be plenty for a jump to 180lbs.
+David Chrapla dead lifts & squatting & bench press
