The gunship and the character of Belikov in general pays tribute to Nikolai (who is also an insider, piloted aircrafts for Task Force 141 and provided mission support).
This campaign is a nice nostalgia trip but the voice acting could've been done better. Mason and Hudson sound nothing like they did back in Black Ops 1.
that's because they had different actors this time. Chris Payne Gilbert voiced Mason in Cold War. He was previously voiced by Sam Worthington in the previous Black Ops games. Piotr Michael voiced Hudson in Cold War. He was previously voiced by Ed Harris in Black ops 1

I’m glad the Soviets are (mostly) armed with AKs here, instead of those ridiculously anachronistic FAMAS Valorisé rifles like in the original Yamantau mission. Although, Mason does end up finding an Ithaca 37, an MP5, and an FNC here somehow...

But the problem is that the ak we see in the game is actually the akm which was stopped being produced in the soviet union and was replaced with the ak47, the worst part is that the game got the akm name wrong and it is called the ak 47
I like how many of the soviet troops there were completely unaware that it was previously infiltrated by CIA operatives rather than the avalanche causing most of the damage

Gotta love those "sniper shots" on targets 20 meters away, all those bullets teleporting magically between magazines, voice actors sounding like they're sitting at a bar while the character runs up a hill with 20kg of equipment on their back, enemies that don't notice their buddy getting shot 2m away from them, your own squad member shouting at max volume while "sneaking up" on enemies, carrying everything (an SMG, a shotgun, a bow, a sniper rifle) all on insta-fetch belt loops, nocking an arrow in 0.2 seconds, and casual gossip amongst squad members while sneaking around an enemy facility. I know not every game wants to be Arma 3, but this is beyond even things dreamt up by Michael Bay
At least Hudson and Woods new voice actors put some effort into sounding like the original voice actors, but Masons new voice actor sounds nothing like Mason, shit.. I thought I was playing another character at that point hehe
