    Yeah, old cars will break, but so new ones. At the end of the day, sol ong as you enjoy running the cars, does it really matter?

    Nice buggy. Looking forward to seeing how you do with it.
    In response to what is right and not right with vintage cars. Resto-mod is a thing, and most of the vintage cars I own were basket cases that had spent a long time in someones back shed. It's just better to get them running rather than perfect.

    I feel like if the RC is worth it, then only repair with original parts. If it's just a classic but needs to be updated into 2024, then running is better than old and not running collectin' dust.

      I’d like to hope that with the advent of 3D printing, we would one day see old school models still running as folks 3D print parts that the original company no longer stock……one can but hope

    Sweet - was gonna point you towards Trick-bits, but you’re clearly all over it!
    I think their 3D printed diff pulleys might be a good option as they apparently grip the belt so much better that you can afford to run the belts a lot slacker and thereby get better drivetrain efficiency

    Pit man Dave is a amazing guy 😁 , I said I love his sct truck,next thing you know he put the controller in my hand and talked me around my track, "faster,brake,power " I was scared to break his car and he pushed me to be a better driver .what a guy and a very good friend you have. The next time I saw him, he helped me with my daughters new monster truck .keep up the good work in the hobby from steve at Millend RRC. 👍

    I just wish I could find a boxed Michelin pilot escort cosworth as that was my very first purchased rc car that I saved for ,,
    My brother decided he would take it back to his Barracks after home leave , I never saw it again , 😫 ,
    But that's just purely for nostalgia reasons

    I refuse to waste big money on obsolete or old classic RC'S , I'd rather spend it on the best currently available RC'S you can buy in todays current RC hobby 🤔 , and i was a teenage RC'er when tamiya RC'S first arrived in the UK many moons ago 🤣 . Even I won't spend money on current TAMIYA'S , they still aren't good enough RC'S for likes of me in todays current RC market you can currently buy in todays hobby 🤣 . YOKOMO , SCHUMACHER , TEAM ASSOCIATED and so on and others like them of the same or similar ilk , am just not interested in buying those manufacturers rubbish value for money overpriced RC'S . I'd rather spend my RC money on higher quality RC'S as well as value RC'S , that are capable on road that i can run on tarmac etc etc 🤔 .

    The pred will only break if you crash it, so run it and just dont crash 😁 its great that we can keep these old girls running with all the stuff being made, so im looking forward to seeing you both at revival and see how well the yokomo does 👍

    I've a Predator X11. The friend I bought it from insisted I got it running as part of the deal. I had to get a diff half made by a friend who owns a machine shop. Its never going to race again, but it runs regularly at our indoor social meets, and it's an absolute delight, even with the slowest motor I have available. You'll love running the Pred when you get a chance.

    This is why I hate the vintage scene in the UK today. When we started vintage racing 10 years ago the whole point was to race the cars as they were back in the old days. Back then we were arguing about whether we should allow modern shocks to be used or not, the argument for was that a set of modern shocks were easier to get hold of than vintage originals while those of us arguing against were pointing out that almost every vintage buggy came with original shocks and usually just needed new o rings if they were leaking. Now before they are even first run racers are bolting on a set of modern big bores.
    Now when you have a worn out pulley, you don't try and find an original part or a reproduction of it, you replace the complete layshaft with a modern multi plate slipper designed for the Associated B6. All this modernisation takes away the original feel of driving these buggies, and makes sure an original vintage buggy just can't compete on track these days.

      Types of racer:
      We can all see those who are serious racers and those who are not so serious racers (and everything in between).
      You may even find this can vary from day to day and even hour to hour!
      Even with the latest and greatest up to date racing classes, you can see the full range of racers and I have no problems with that, just do your own thing and try and help each other as best you can.
      With Vintage cars this problem of 'seriousness' can 'seem' a lot worse in terms of 'fairness' as you have explained.
      For Vintage racing the rules can never be so fully defined will never be 100% enforced if only because of limited parts availability. Once you accept this fact, I think it's best to see Vintage as a 'run what you brung' class = race for fun and respect the winners with no complaints.
      The only limitations for vintage should be on the 'power train' and chassis age.
      The way I see it, R/C racing is never going to be 100% equal, even if everyone has the same hardware choices like we have in VRC Pro, you will still find some driver / car combinations / setups much faster than others.
      Early in my R/C racing career, I watched Tamiya Holiday buggies with all stock parts and some cars were still faster than others!
      I.e. in vintage racing, it's a 'fools game' complaining about other people's choices - best to focus on your own.
      At the end of the day we are lucky with R/C racing, we get to qualify all day as best we can and then we get a final.
      Qualifying is more a race against yourself and then in the final you are now up against people with much the same performance as each other. Frequently I find being in the D or C final much more fun than in an A final because the opportunity to move up a few places is greater! However, I still try my best to get in the A final, and making the best of what I have.
      Special note about the B final, this could be considered the worst place to be. Partly became you may have only 'just' missed making the A final, but mostly because you have to 'marshal' the A final. And as an experienced driver in order to make the B final you are expected to be a very competent marshal! Worse, you now cannot 'watch' the A final, i.e. you have to focus on just your corner. As such, in compensation, all B finalists should get part of their entrance fee back (say £5 as a token gesture)!
      In summary, from what I can see, vintage racing is a big success and most people enjoy the racing and make no complaints.
