On a recent The Fifth Column podcast, Moynihan talks about his regret exposing this man. He still thinks it was necessary, but is disturbed by how quickly the mob ganged up on Jonah Lehrer.

You wouldn’t happen to know which episode it was? Do you remember if Michael had on a special guest?

This is what CNN used to be like? It wasn't just a split talking about Trump constantly?

Wonder why an author of two best sellers who is a Rhodes Scholar would screw up like this. Ironically one of his books is about decision making.Lehrer and Stephen Glass should start a support group.

There are a lot of Stephen Glass type journalists out there.

Seems trivial and petty. His credibility is supposed to be in neuroscience, not ability to get quotes exactly right.

I hope that lehrer guy is never allowed to pollute a newspaper, magazine or tv station with his lack of integrity for the rest of his life.

Obviously fabricating quotes for your book and even the self-plagiarism is wrong and should not be allowed or condoned... But this guy (Moynihan) looks like such a weasel. He just looks so giddy to be revealing these secrets like he's Lehrer's arch enemy or something.

I know this is an old comment but it is so stupid. He "looks like a weasel" so you don't like his truth seeking? Please never breed or vote.

I love Jonah Leheer, I've read his book "How we decide". Really changed my life. His intentions were good. I really wonder why this guy went into all of this, just to prove his ego I guess.

Because he is a journalist and found a story? Not that hard to understand

Dumane Daley he didn’t do it to prove his ego. Plagiarism is punished severely and in the real world for a reason. Imagine being a journalist and not reporting that?
Also that imagine book was found to also be filled with false medical knowledge on top of it, idk why you would trust anything lehran writes since any of it could be bullshit and probably all of it is.
As for his intentions, it’s to make money, he’s a millionaire. Don’t fall for that fake science bullshit cause it sounds flashy and life changing

Because he uncovered a deception that was initially glossed over by Lehrer - read Jon Ronson's book SO YOU'VE BEEN PUBLICALLY SHAMED

Ok, I listened to this, and I reckon Moynihan is a lair as well.
What journalist would stop reading a book in the first chapter because they reckon they have found an untruth?
He is either not diligent, or a liar. I reckon he is both.
He wants to convince his audience that this book is crap by saying that he was so put off by a few early white lies, that he didn't deem it worthy of any further reading.
Clearly he has it in for the author, so why would he stop when he could potentially find a lot more ammo...nah...Moynihan...you are a filthy little liar yourself.

He proved it was a lie. Lehrer admitted it. It doesn't matter if the rest of the book is free of lies.

    • @AnnabelleJARankin
      @AnnabelleJARankin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Did you read his Tablet article? Lehrer packed in the lies. Why would you want to read the book of a proven and admitted liar?! Also, see Jon Ronson's book 'So you've been publicly shamed'. Michael is a stickler for the truth.
