I like the idea that V is the embodiment of that artsy, edgy middle school version of yourself everyone has that Vergil is completely ashamed of letting anyone know it exists.
My headcanon is that Vergil(and by extension Dante) were exposed to a lot of artistic disciplines as kids, but Vergil was the only one who kept up with his preferred disciplines. Vergil ended up really falling in love with the violin and wants to either get a custom made one for himself someday or to get an antique violin made by someone other than Stradivari(because he's a hipster like that.) This also is what I use to help explain why they both like showing off and do it so well

That book that V has is very special to Vergil and is the gift he received from old man during his childhood. I think there is a comic out there that explains more into Vergil and his backstory abit.
So Vergil has a couple of hidden lines in his fight with Dante. If you use DSD's summoned swords in GS and if you taunt him, Vergil will mention it and has a few lines for the taunt. If you taunt after he exits DT, he will go into DT and say "You dare mock me?"

for Nero, if you have Tomboy activated, when you buster a Hell Caina, you do increased damage and style. Even more so if you have DT activated when you buster
Also the shots during the Caina Buster change if you have Color Up shots loaded. They get even better when you do a Caina Buster mash while holding a Level 3 Charge Shot
Here's a few more for ya: Hell Caina's buster scales not just with Color Up, but also with with Tomboy. That lets you completely delete them, even on DMD, while giving big style points. Using Punchline's normal attack (round trip), you can breakage it mid-flight to cancel any attack at any time into any other attack, even into the same attack ex. double Streak. Dante's BP taunt makes his damage scale with the DT gauge until he enters DT or gets hit, up to +/-20% damage. If you're in SS when you activate Sin DT, you can still use Quad S if you reach SSS fast enough after transforming. Dante has an unlisted input for Quick Drive on DSD. It is the same input as in DMC4 and will use the first hit of Drive faster than the normal version. V's Royal Fork (and I think his DT?) resets his teleport, letting you use another afterwards without touching the ground. Needs a cancel, though. V's BP taunt amps his cane for a short period and prevents attacks from bouncing, making it safer to whack non-weakened targets.
For Nero if you keep a B-rank and taunt, he puts on his hoodie, if you stop the taunt while he has it on you can play the rest of the mission with it edit: Your hoodie gets removed once you get hit
Nero's BP taunt will have the same effect, but also adds glowing eyes and a blue flaming aura. If there are enemies present the taunt will regen 2 bars of DT Nero also has a taunt where he pulls out a chewing gum which will slowly heal him for 2 health squares. He will continue to chew on it unless you get hit or enter DT. You can stack the hood and the chewing gum.
You can actually use Air Taunt after every single jump, allowing you to do a "quadruple jump" which gives you a ton of air time and, if you rev Red Queen during the taunts, Exceed stocks. I haven't actually tried to Air Taunt after using Flap Top yet, which would make a sextuple jump, but I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to.
Captain Faust It works exactly like that with flap top. One thing I found out with the air taunt us that if you can time a shot at the right time right after and do it again immediately after you can get extra height almost making it an infinite jump.
Also, while V's air taunt is nothing special as far as I can tell, Dante's air taunt is basically Lucifer's rose throw launcher from 4, aside from dealing a lot less damage, so it can definitely help prolong combos.
You can get a unique finish animation of Mirage Goliath Boss as V in Mission 14 if Nigtmare is active. Got it fighting Goliath last and chosing Nigtmare last.
I don't think you need to have nightmare unlocked for he finisher. I think I went Goliath first on HaH and just picked griffon, and even though I didn't have nightmare I got the finisher, though I might remember wrongly.
I accidentally did that on my first playthrough I wanted to kill all the other bosses with nightmare to see if there were cool animations too But i ran out of DT both times
I learned something about nero today, lol. If you hold taunt after using a buster attack on an scudo angelo, he'll quickly spin and and place his knee on it's neck while flexing.
2:16 its important to note that on any buster move tha Nero uses his sword in he can get exceed charges (like the artemis bossfight) also im not sure but i think you can use the devil bringer combo punches too to dish out a bit of more dmg to charge DT faster during buster animations
I'm pretty sure I had that happen as Nero multiple times even when Nero wasn't in DT. I think the only requirement for that is that you've reached the doppelganger phase of the fight.
That was covered in the last video. It's also not that hard to find considering the urge to grab Vergil when he's on his knees his strong. It's Nero after all. Of course I want to grab him.
Video summary: Dante gets a better hairstyle plus the ability to drop a rocket launcher. Nero gets tactics that are actually worth using. *V plays a violin with his cane.* Not sure what I found most informative, to be honest.
The best part about V's taunt is that while it locks you in place, you still have full command over your demons. So you're purposely making yourself a sitting duck in the middle of combat while your demons slice, smash and zap your enemies. It's beautiful.
The extended buster combos are a callback from DMC4, you can extend them by tapping the buster command repeatedly while it's being executed, try it with different enemies on and off DT. Also with the hell caina one, try charging up the blue rose before and while you're doing the buster extended combo to blow it's head apart with 3 gigantic charged rounds.
Love when devs throw in small hidden stuff like these in their games. Also revving during certain buster animations has been a thing since dmc4. You can rev during the artemis buster too

It can also stun and gives your Wire Snatch some damage. 1:56 You can mash either gun or Buster to shoot more times. If a Color Up shot is loaded, these shots will get a small power boost. You can also mash Buster for the Queen Empusa's Buster to do a little more damage.

Couple things to mention, it wasnt in video 1 or this one. Not sure if you knew yet or not! Dante air taunt can be trick cancelled. Nero air taunt can be exceeded, shadow punches can be thrown during any attack not just while charging (basically the same timing as exceed)
On the subject of the Air taunt triple jump, with the right timing, air taunting after a Gerbera fling keeps your height in air. Mastering the timing could theoretically keep you up in the air indefinitely! Very useful, especially during the Diverging point mission

Way to go. I was getting pretty upset at how difficult it was to find this content. There's so fucking much in the Vergil fight that you could probably do an entire video, personal favorite is attacking his swords back at him for an easy stun/combo.
Cool videos learned alot. If you do a part 3 dante has a hidden quick drive move not listed in his skills. Great combo starter and launches enemies. To perform use drive after DSD first strike. Timings a bit tricky but once you get used to it's easy to do everytime. Can't do overdrive if you do it this way. Love how much hidden stuff is in this game.
You've put a lot of work into this video and you've done an AMAZING job, like, better than I myself could ever wish to do...but...half of these aren't hidden features. Most of them are explained in the Skill Lists or hinted towards the player during the game. Still, one heck of an awesome video!
If you finish bloody palace with Dante and get the new taunt (seen in the Mini intro here), Dante's hair stays like that (Vergil-style), until you use DT or start a new mission
I know the video is old already, but maybe someone will use it: You can perform an air taunt by taunting mid air. These animations are swift and they generate DT bars like regular taunts. More enemies around, more DT (max 3 bars). Do not spam it though. Nero can exceed his air taunts, too. Nero DT form boosts all of his damage, including busters or special moves. It is possible to turn on DT form, start a grapple animation and turn off the DT. It will save DT bars and the damage will be doubled anyway.
0:16 what are the controls for that on pc? 1:59 there are other buster animations where u can also mash buster for more hits, and yes buster itself being mashed also triggers the extra shots for the hell caina ground buster
1:58 if u have charged shots u can use those by using the knuckle buster move with the bringer arm it works the same as the gun button mash but instead does charged shots
Dont know if its hidden or not but once DT is unlocked for nero you can use the buster arms like exceeding and if times right can exceed and pull off bonus attacks with the buster arm wing things at the same time

During second phase of the Vergil fight. If he drops down and you buster him you’ll grab his clown instead. If you’re in DT you’ll grab both and do a different buster.
Pro tip you can mash r2 during neros devil buster attacks (on certain enemies) to do more damage also do this the hell cythe dudes while havimg anycharge of color up will do extra damage, remember to do this hold x and mash r2
How?? It's a struggle trying to manage slashing, exceed, devil breaker, devil bringer, and the camera all while constantly holding the shoot button down
DMC 5 is full of many hidden mechanics that aren’t explained. I’d suggested to remapping the shooting button. Switch it to L2 and you can easily hold blue rose for as long as you can. Also if you turn turbo on it you can let it charge by itself. The specifics are vague since it’s been over a year since I played it. But if you are having troubles let me know and I’ll get you the details on how to turn on turbo.
If you manage to get out of the Boundaries on Mission 3 with nero, there is a certain part of the Map where you can see a real picture of some sort of a Park as a background. Not sure why this happens, but the User Timobus found that out. Videosource: /watch?v=hzk_yUbWkdU
I don’t know if this is a hidden feature but when fighting Vergil you can use Dante’s dance macabre to break his block but I don’t know if it works on devil trigger or not but if you found another way to break his block don’t bother to use this method if you can’t break his block than this is for you to use
As Danter is DMC4, you could continue dDante's macarbe with million stabs. While reaching that point, stop pressing the style button and press the melee button instead.
You can just mash the buster button (Right Trigger) on Hell Caina instead, meaning you can charge your gun dealing more damage per shot in the process.
not only can you use nero's air taunt as an extra jump, you can use AFTER EVERY JUMP. that means you can jump, taunt, air hike, taunt again, fly, and taunt yet again that's six jumps. you can break pretty much all of the platforming with nero and go basically everywhere. if you do the six jumps and then a max act calibur, you can travel airborne covering like three times more ground than with dante's dt flying.
You can add this: nero's high jump Command : jump>air taunt>break away>air hike>air taunt>break away> flap top >air taunt>break away>air taunt>break away {after that repeat break away and air taunt until you run out of devil breakers} Note: only use for fun though....
When fighting Vergil at the end, if you grab him in DT as he spawns the clone a different animation will play instead of the sword fight. He grabs them both, slams their heads together, then screams “get fucked” lol.

Devil Trigger as Nero against Vergil and when he's on his knees for to use buster when he's Triggered you'll grab both his doppleganger and him.

TBH, playing air violin in the middle of a chaotic battlefield is pretty badass. Even more when you're playing an orchestra conductor.

On the subject of the Air taunt triple jump, with the right timing, air taunting after a Gerbera fling keeps your height in air. Mastering the timing could theoretically keep you up in the air indefinitely! Very useful, especially during the Diverging point mission

Cool videos learned alot. If you do a part 3 dante has a hidden quick drive move not listed in his skills. Great combo starter and launches enemies. To perform use drive after DSD first strike. Timings a bit tricky but once you get used to it's easy to do everytime. Can't do overdrive if you do it this way. Love how much hidden stuff is in this game.
You've put a lot of work into this video and you've done an AMAZING job, like, better than I myself could ever wish to do...but...half of these aren't hidden features. Most of them are explained in the Skill Lists or hinted towards the player during the game. Still, one heck of an awesome video!
If you finish bloody palace with Dante and get the new taunt (seen in the Mini intro here), Dante's hair stays like that (Vergil-style), until you use DT or start a new mission
You can actually use the Taunt Jump with Nero 6 times sinc it doesn't have a limit
That hold trigger for the haircut is also a nod to the dmc2 cheat used to get infinite dt and even a call back to the old cheat in Dmc3

You can perform an air taunt by taunting mid air. These animations are swift and they generate DT bars like regular taunts. More enemies around, more DT (max 3 bars). Do not spam it though. Nero can exceed his air taunts, too.
Nero DT form boosts all of his damage, including busters or special moves. It is possible to turn on DT form, start a grapple animation and turn off the DT. It will save DT bars and the damage will be doubled anyway.

Dont know if its hidden or not but once DT is unlocked for nero you can use the buster arms like exceeding and if times right can exceed and pull off bonus attacks with the buster arm wing things at the same time

During second phase of the Vergil fight. If he drops down and you buster him you’ll grab his clown instead. If you’re in DT you’ll grab both and do a different buster.
1:57 You can also shoot more if you mash R2. I believe a charged gun will do more damage compared to a non charged one, but I have not tested this.
DT + full charge 3 + Tomboy + mash input = max damage for that grab
Pro tip you can mash r2 during neros devil buster attacks (on certain enemies) to do more damage also do this the hell cythe dudes while havimg anycharge of color up will do extra damage, remember to do this hold x and mash r2

You forgot to mentioned NERO can automatically charge his weapon no need to hold it. Thus having access to Even more air combos.
How?? It's a struggle trying to manage slashing, exceed, devil breaker, devil bringer, and the camera all while constantly holding the shoot button down
DMC 5 is full of many hidden mechanics that aren’t explained. I’d suggested to remapping the shooting button. Switch it to L2 and you can easily hold blue rose for as long as you can. Also if you turn turbo on it you can let it charge by itself. The specifics are vague since it’s been over a year since I played it. But if you are having troubles let me know and I’ll get you the details on how to turn on turbo.

If you manage to get out of the Boundaries on Mission 3 with nero, there is a certain part of the Map where you can see a real picture of some sort of a Park as a background. Not sure why this happens, but the User Timobus found that out.

Its a 360 picture of a real world scenario used as the Skybox. Normally you wouldn't see the park, that's what the art team hoped for.

I don’t know if this is a hidden feature but when fighting Vergil you can use Dante’s dance macabre to break his block but I don’t know if it works on devil trigger or not but if you found another way to break his block don’t bother to use this method if you can’t break his block than this is for you to use
Dante Kennedy I found using the cavalier in the air much easier
As Danter is DMC4, you could continue dDante's macarbe with million stabs. While reaching that point, stop pressing the style button and press the melee button instead.

You can just mash the buster button (Right Trigger) on Hell Caina instead, meaning you can charge your gun dealing more damage per shot in the process.
not only can you use nero's air taunt as an extra jump, you can use AFTER EVERY JUMP. that means you can jump, taunt, air hike, taunt again, fly, and taunt yet again that's six jumps. you can break pretty much all of the platforming with nero and go basically everywhere. if you do the six jumps and then a max act calibur, you can travel airborne covering like three times more ground than with dante's dt flying.

When fighting Vergil at the end, if you grab him in DT as he spawns the clone a different animation will play instead of the sword fight. He grabs them both, slams their heads together, then screams “get fucked” lol.
