I live about 40 minutes from the closest skate shop so it's not always the easiest to get over there. Whenever I'm in that town though I will go out of my way to stop at the shop and buy something. I order stuff boards included online as well and it is hard to know sometimes the shapes are a little or the concave is a little different but that's just part of the game i guess
The conversation on the Olympics needing to know whereabouts and randomly drug testing is insane. Skateboarding is what it is, can’t put it through a filter, I don’t know shit but that’s how I feel rad episode, these dudes are rad
Actually you can blame the Russian Federation for it, every Olympian they had competing for most events were tested positive for PED's, so much so that they were barred by WADA (World Anti Doping Association) and the IOC from competing under the Russian flag for the 2020 Olympics, also those that won medals from as far back as Brazil were stripped of their medals as well. Its a constant game of cat and mouse when it comes to competitions and PED's.
So true Southern Cali has all the indoor parks but none of the states that actually need them have them, Oregon has like none with all the rain we get it’s crazy. Maybe like two in Portland and a couple others that are private only parks.

A thing to note is there are small categories that the skateshop has the edge. If you’ve ever been at a park or a spot and right on the cusp of landing something, your board snaps. you aren’t going to look for a board online. You’ll go to the closest place that has one. Unless you’re a complete diva that has to know the exact shape and wheelbase, but most of the time you’ll find something that works at your local shop
The skateboard community is so cool that I started a TH-cam channel just to get help with my tricks. I am 53 and just started to learn tricks and because of my age it is hard to get lessons or someone to skate with, let face it I need someone closer to my own age to skate with otherwise its just wierd.
39:15 I got the Asta space cat misprint in the VX with the ever slick but it was a 8.0 too narrow for me so I gave it to some kids at the park that didn't have very good boards. Also here in Midland, Texas at that same park we're going to have a jam for the bikes and scooters. Skateboards on December 16th and we're calling it Arctic blast. We're looking for sponsors. Hit me up. We want to make it sweet for these kids to help them stay encouraged

that Park looks just Like the First Park I went to in the little country town that was an asphalt pad, with Pink Plastic Hocky Board my friend swears was earlly skate light......It was Hockey Board material that was impossible to land anything on the pyramid when rotating, had basically all thhe same stuff like that park but the ramps has proper serious Metal to ride up the ramps on. it took 10-15 years from my City to get a Park while all the small farming towns got parks before, im talking from year 2000 to mid 2000s before ours designed by a BIKER, Seeing hhow far parks have come from the 1st attempts to now,.....................The Kids cant Skate the Streets too good round heere , which is hilarious when you were the guy who always had the wax on crusty oldddddd 90s spots

I’m torn about Street League and the Olympics. I mean, it definitely pulled it away from the core, no doubt, and the drug testing shit was wack. OTOH, you’ll notice that the minute they were no longer required by contract that they completely gutted the women’s competition.
There’s way to much to type about how the DTC effects and works with Skateshop’s. Parade was a great resource for shops and customers, just way to much to type about. I have been running my shop for almost 30 years (the oldest skater run shop in NY). I have seen the rise and fall of blanks and the shop decks arrive. We sell them to be competitive with pricing and get/keep kids skating. I feel that shops and brands all make sacrifices to keep the doors open and the wheels rolling.
Love tom asta but he (like many skaters) always makes me think one thing: not a single bicep curl was done that day🤣 everyone should lift weights at least 20min twice/week
