York's part in Mouse was one of my favorites when I started skating in 97. To this day I wish I could find a recording of the dope hiphop track he skated to, seems like it was made just for Mike since they shout him out in it. "Knowing the deal, controlling the dialect, flowing for real, and speaking with intellect"
Hearing these Embarcadero stories really made me happy! I got to skate there very briefly in July 1996. I ollied the small 3 set and did a kickflip on flatground and immediately got kicked out by a security guard. After that me and my friend went to Pier 7 which was an amazing experience. I'll always be glad I technically got to skate Embarcadero before it was torn down :)
Growing up in the East Bay, I started skating around 85(10 yrs old) and started going to the city and skating Embarco around 87-88. Just me a couple skate homies and even back then it was like a skate park. There used to be a dope little DIY spot across the street under the freeway(that got demolished after the 89 earthquake), but Embarco was THE spot! First kid I met around my age was Lavar and even at that point he was way ahead of most that I saw. Then comes Mike York doing treflips down the stage which was at that time probably as tall as we/he was. Then Karl, then Lee when he very first skating(I remember him having to dip to get home). Over the years I always came around with more of my crew, Marc(I think York named him "Head N Shoulders"), Turbo Tony and Dave Ow. Always stoked to see all these dudes get on and skate. Not there for "the demo", just to skate. Never thought I was good, but I was alright. I remember when I was kickin a lot with Drake(early Experience days) York had someone's camera and randomly film a line of mine and after that for it seemed like hella long everyone would come up and ask me "Do a Kickflip" lol... So many memories from that iconic place and all the folks I met along the way
Jesus. So much 9 Club! Hella stoked on this surprise! If there's a Sunday episode too, the 9 Club will have whisked me away from daily reality for like 12 fuckin hours by the end of the week! Not mad at that...
15 minutes in ,and already the best episode yet, york is my all time favorite ! grew up on the hot chocolate tour ! right when skating started clicking for me . thank you for this you guys !
I bought boards and wheels from York at Pier 7 all the time when I was a kid. Ben too. York and Ben were super nice to the kids that hung around Pier 7.
I just woke up and saw this and thought I'd slept through 2 days!! ahrrr it's still Saturday fark yeah sweet one legends, buckets and chill gotta love it......
This is honestly one of the most enjoyable episodes I've seen. Something about having a number of guys who all experienced the same time & place in skateboarding. The enthusiasm is real, and the whole episode flows seamlessly.
Hot Chocolate video is the best, and so good I’ve even listened to just the audio of it while at work multiple times. About time for this episode, and awesome to have Daniel, and Mike join you for the podcast. Would be nice for everyone from the Hot chocolate video to have a reunion.
Nine club, I apologize for not watching the interviews lately. Been so caught up with family and school. I promise to watch more as a late 2024 new year resolution! 😅🎉
This is a pretty special episode to me, as growing up skating, girl/chocolate, you guys were my life and heroes, my inspiration for everything I wanted to learn. Thank you guys, Daniel, Mikey, nine club and gang. Thank you for what you do. This brought back memories!!!🥹🙌
Great episode i started skating in late 93 as a 12 year old next year chocolate and girl dropped...these are the guys we grew up on. Nueva vidas de paco is a classic of skateboarding films. There hasn't been a film to surpass that era.
Had a huge grin the whole episode. Such great stories. Yeah Right was my first skate video and I agree with Kelly that Girl/Chocolate is the best skate company and team ever and that will ever be. Gold! ❤
I’ve worked tons of stressful jobs but being a dj was the most stressful one ever. People def thought my job was easy and stress free. Much less stressful having a regular job where you just get paid for the hours doing the same shit over and over.
I must of got lucky, I skated there one night and it was empty. It was weird because it was the weekend where all the pros were in town for back to city contest. The sounds of the bricks was the best!
"Paco" came out while I worked at SLAP and we played the hell out of that VHS. One of my all time favorite videos with so many sick lines. Stoked to see Daniel and Mike on the show, hell of a duo!
These two have been some of my favorites for over 20 years. Well all of you really. But mike saying I love being an old skater, roll forever, skate rats for life. ❤
That era was truly the golden age of skateboarding. The skaters oozed so much style. The way they pushed, the way they landed, moved their arms, the lines they did trick after trick with such cool imperfection, man so good. The culture was next level back then. Sure, the level is so much higher today, but that's just technically speaking. In terms of style, it's so bland and sanitized. I'm numb and bored with skaters nowadays, I'd rather watch a simple smoooooooth crooked or switch pop shove full of style and attitude from York than watch a damn robot do a switch lazer noseslide 360 flip out or something. The essence is lost.
The WI stuff was no joke. In ~99 my hookup at the HB warehouse would "get" me enough stuff to make my house a bonified skate shop where all the local skaters would come. They would flat out pay him in gear on top of regular pay on top of taking extra. It was insane.
I really like Daniel Castillo. Knowledgeable, passionate, warm, friendly vibe. Would love him back as a regular.
Ya he's dope!
Agree!
Vibe
Daniel and daewon episode 🙏
For reals
York is a natural show host. Great voice, eye contact with the camera, timing is on point. Dude is amazing.
Need these two to drop in for the live show now and again. The vibes are immaculate
I still to this day say “SHIFTY CUZ IM IN THE CITY!!” 😂😂
“It would suck if I hung up. Ooooh I didn’t hang up how’d you like that???”
I did this the other day, and I haven't skated in 3 years!
You know you got some long time homies when everyone's constantly talking over one another. Great show.
Who decide to hit us over the head with a duo surprise Friday episode!
Thanks nine club !!! Keep killing it
Please have York as a returning guest.
He is so incredibly charismatic and hillarious. Or get him his own show. ❤
Charismatic? Most of what he said is just annoying and seems like he's over compensating for something.
@@YouilAushana You would be happier if you stop hating on everyone and everything. Worry about what you are over compensating for. You will be happier if you allow yourself to evolve.
Totally agree! York is a fucking LEGEND!!
What?!! Thank you guys, love this two, York should be a regular on the show!🙏🏻
Mike York is one of the funniest guys in the Business 😁🤙🏻
Best nine club yet. Hands down!
Mike York’s voice makes me so happy!!
even his voice box has good vibes
York's part in Mouse was one of my favorites when I started skating in 97.

How is Roger so good at camera switching?? It blows my mind. Props bro
These are edited. The live show is Roger camera switching. 👍
@thenineclub oh God that must be even harder!!
The chico impression will always be hilarious 😂😂
Dude, how epic would Nine Club tour be with Daniel and York added!
YORK >>>
This is the energy we need!

Love when Castillo is on the show. Loved Yorks energy and stories.
Couple of my favorite guests back and even better as a duo. These are great stories.
This shits funny as fuck, perfect timing for a snow day😤❤️
Jesus. So much 9 Club! Hella stoked on this surprise! If there's a Sunday episode too, the 9 Club will have whisked me away from daily reality for like 12 fuckin hours by the end of the week! Not mad at that...
This was probably the most dynamic 9club I have seen. Everybody so involved in the blablabla. Great show! Mike York is a super funny guy!

York and Castillo! what more can you ask for?? love this episode so much!
❤❤❤
This was fun, such a great dynamic. More tag team-mate guests!
They really should give their guests yerba mate fosho 🧉.
I’ve literally been hearing stories about matinee for years and never been able to find it. Girl need to put it out
This episode is an instant classic
This episode is amazing love when it's just the homies chillen talking about the good days 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
the chemistry on this one is so good.
I bought boards and wheels from York at Pier 7 all the time when I was a kid. Ben too. York and Ben were super nice to the kids that hung around Pier 7.

Thank you nine club.
I wish this was just the normal nine club crew hahaha so good
Hot Chocolate video is the best, and so good I’ve even listened to just the audio of it while at work multiple times. About time for this episode, and awesome to have Daniel, and Mike join you for the podcast. Would be nice for everyone from the Hot chocolate video to have a reunion.
Ayeeeeeee 🎉I did not expect this LG

Mike York is one of the Best dudes out there now and back then !!! Thankyou York
I remember having a Mike York Chocolate board back in the day. Dude seems cool AF, funny as hell, and likeable personality.
loving the hat culture of this show lol. Everyone always wears a hat.
Get ready to laugh. I have a feeling this is going to be a funny one. Thanks nine club! 🍻
It’s like some weird reunion. Grew up with this guys.
Great episode i started skating in late 93 as a 12 year old next year chocolate and girl dropped...these are the guys we grew up on. Nueva vidas de paco is a classic of skateboarding films. There hasn't been a film to surpass that era.
Amazing episode! Mike and Daniel are so rad! Thank you all for making this show happen! I look forward to every episode!
The OG episodes are the best 🛹🛹🛹
They got good stories from the good old days. They should have an age limit.
Best episode in a minute
Had a huge grin the whole episode. Such great stories. Yeah Right was my first skate video and I agree with Kelly that Girl/Chocolate is the best skate company and team ever and that will ever be. Gold! ❤
Daniel Castillo in Episode 310, South Bay Area Code lol South Bay Represent!!
Such a fun episode!
I love hearing pro skaters talk about how stressful their jobs are… it’s all love, but it does make me laugh 😂
I’ve worked tons of stressful jobs but being a dj was the most stressful one ever. People def thought my job was easy and stress free. Much less stressful having a regular job where you just get paid for the hours doing the same shit over and over.
EMB!
My friend went there un 92' and got ignored the whole time there till someone threatened to steal his board so he just left, true story, lol
I must of got lucky, I skated there one night and it was empty. It was weird because it was the weekend where all the pros were in town for back to city contest. The sounds of the bricks was the best!
Jeron is retooled & Justified. Wheels & Shoes. Absolutely Righteous. Excellent Episode. Edit: Duh, this is EPIC.
This was such a sick episode. Just a bunch of homies chopping it up - real skate history. Such respect for all the homies.
This was a really good episode, I love hearing all of the old girl and world stories.
"Paco" came out while I worked at SLAP and we played the hell out of that VHS. One of my all time favorite videos with so many sick lines. Stoked to see Daniel and Mike on the show, hell of a duo!
This was awesome lol. Throwback clips always be crispy
This is 100x better than the yeah right reunion thing they did on that stage. Please get York on as a regular
These two have been some of my favorites for over 20 years. Well all of you really. But mike saying I love being an old skater, roll forever, skate rats for life. ❤
This episode is classic and strictly for the heads. York is straight comedy.
Special surprise!
Have a good weekend brother!👊🏻
Let's go early episode I like this !

DC is the best! This should be the new 9club lineup!!!
Love that episode! Reminds me of the ol buddies!
Would love to see Chico on here!
IMHO this is one of the coolest and funniest episode by far. York is hilarious! :)
L.A. Skate Co. is on Santa Monica blvd and Oxford Avenue.
Can’t stop the Yorkatron.
Loving all the early 2000s chocolate team behind the scenes Talk
Hot chocolate reunion ❤❤ y’all still inspire me 20 years later.

First off. Mike and Daniel are so great they could be hosts for good.
Second. Bring back small wheels.
Best episode yet!
Mike York for president! ❤️❤️❤️
Great episode
Quick question what are those frames you have for the boards? Did yall make them your self or where can I find some?
