Lightburn software and your service support team is world class. I don't say that lightly, I've been at the highest levels of service for over 50 years. Thanks for setting such an outstanding level of excellence in all you do!
These are some truly epic updates coming. Lightburn is by far and away the BEST software I have ever used for many a machine. I use it for my CNC Laser, CNC Router and my CNC plasma, absolutely the best I just found your channel, subscribed and liked, thank you for the info, Bob
I would counter that chamfer and fillet are more of a 3-part operation. I believe the recommendation is to apply these to the extruded part and not the 2D sketch. That said, from a 2D perspective the radius tool covers the fillet part where you can set your radius value and click the corner node to apply. As long as the radius is applicable it will add it.
looking good. I have only been using for a few months but I find it an easier software to learnand feel I can do many things I need to do already. Every days a school day
Awesome updates! Would love if you could include a nudge option for moving objects/nodes by whatever measurement required - similar to shape move increments but on the main screen. Coreldraw has this function and it is amazing. Also would love it if you didn't have to place the cursor directly over the line to select it - seem to spend forever trying to select lines and nodes. If this could be included I think I'd give up Coreldraw :)
Doesn't the Ctrl-Alt arrows do this? Regarding selection, I always use a small upper right to lower left (crossing selection) to select a line directly.
Thanks for very informative video. One quick question, the LENGTH, is it the length of the tumbler itself or the length of the design? Do you taper warp the design first then rotate based on how the rotary is set up on the bed of the laser? Thanks.
Length of where you measure your diameters from. So if you measure top and bottom of the cup, then the length is the full length of the cup. If you take a measurement from a mid-point then your length is to that midpoint. It's basically plotting the taper. I would say yes to your 2nd question. Setup all of your artwork and then as the last step you would rotate it to align with your workpiece.
These would be the three "CAD" oriented things I'd love to see. Better offset: Select item... enter distance... click the side to offset to. Fillet and chamfer: Select fillet enter the value dimension. Then click two lines sequentially. At the point the two lines intersect, the section past the intersection is removed and the actual intersection is replaced with a radius of dimension entered for the fillet. It the dimension is zero then the intersection becomes a hard corner. Chamfer is very similar. Except where the intersection occurs, the the corner is replaced by a small line segment equal to the dimension provided with equivalent angles between the two lines.
Good video and fantastic new features! Production suggestion though, could you please change your cursor color to black and make it somewhat larger so it's easier to see during your presentation? This would make it easier to follow along with your actions. Thanks again for the great software and video!
Not that I have seen yet. There have been a few dev builds since the video so they're still doing some tweaking I believe. This was an advanced preview that I was lucky enough to get permission to show off.
Love the cnr radius tool. However, will there be UI feedback as to the "value" of that radius? I'm assuming that once the radius has been generated the shape will be converted to path and will no longer show in the Shape Properties window.
@nwmi493 If you could elaborate I'd love to get your thoughts on what you feel is missing from Layers. I find them pretty robust but maybe I'm not thinking of particular use cases. Thanks!
I mean dont get me wrong LB is a fantastic program and they have done an awesome job with it. In regard to layers, I would like to see the option, when starting a new job, the user be asked if they want to apply previous settings to the layers or return layer settings to default, clearing out names and settings etc with each new job. Additionally Id like to have the program prompt me to assign a layer to a new object BEFORE it is drawn as opposed to drawing in the layer last used etc. Customizing the colors of the layers would be helpful for those times when the display monitor you are working on does not show its color well. some displays are better than others at displaying various colors. @@thetinkerverse
do we know when 1.5 is coming out?. Also, I wish they would update the ART LIBRARY feature and add a drop down in in like they do with the LIBRARY. I would love to have say "Christmas" and have a drop down that will have Ornaments, Signs, Gifts etc. As it is now I have 10 libraries for Christmas and other linraries are the same.
I'm not sure to be honest on a release date. It's been in beta for a little bit now and has gone through a few minor fixes during testing. Beyond that I'm not sure what he has in mind for a target.
It looks like it, yes. I stacked 2 circles on top of each other, grouped them and then applied the taper warp. Both circles were modified as I'd expect.
I'd like to see a way to change the macro buttons - I have one for setting to rotary attachment mode, and another for setting back to normal mode. It would be great if I could change the colour of the button, or the name, or background, or *something* to indicate that the macro has been run and the laser is now in a particular state.
The Feature Suggestions site Carl points to is best for this idea. Helps us track interest and allows others to upvote the idea. Additionally, just wanted to share with you that while the macro buttons are not currently "state aware", you can edit the name of each macro button to offer a visual reminder of what you have set that macro to do.
@@rick-lightburn9954I don't use macros yet, so keep that in mind. Can a macro change the name of the macro button? There may be issues with it getting out of sync, but that could be rectified with just toggling the button.
Right now it looks like it has partial integration with SVGNest. You can select a group of shapes and go to Arrange > Nest Selected and it will generate an SVG and copy the svg path to the clipboard. Then it opens up SVGNest and you can paste in the path, do the nesting and then import the nested file back to LB. I know it's not the most elegant and doesn't leverage the camera to work with precut material and such but at least it's something. I also can't speak much to the functionality as I've never used it other than to play around a bit.
I don't see anything about changes to the camera system in the change log, no. If you have suggestions please make sure and log them here: lightburn.fider.io/
As it so happens, 1.5 was released to public beta earlier this week. You should be able to find details on the forum as I don't have the link immediately handy.
Hey Mike. Long time no chat. I think the goal is to have LB be able to do the majority of most design work without the need for Corel or AI or whatever. Sure there may be times that using another program are warranted but for what most people want, having it all in one app makes sense. At least it does for my workflow. I don't remember the last time I had to open Inkscape :)
@@thetinkerverse Gotcha.... I live in my design software, and use it for all projects... wide format printing, CNC Router, 3D Printer and of course Laser projects. As usual, everyone should do what works for them and their production flow, etc. 👍
Can't wait for a taper correction function. Long overdue!
I've been waiting for tapered correction for so long I may cry
Lightburn is the ultimate in engraving and cutting. So many people use it, andit's no wonder why. Awesome job, guys.
Great new features that i'm looking forward to using. Thank you for the demo
The public beta has been released. Check out the forum for the link if you want to try it out!

All great additions & improvements! Always look forward to things like this. I use LB on 5 different types of lasers and love it!
Looking forward to this release, I hope it will include improved functionality for the xtool s1 40w laser.

The radius will continue to show in the Shape Properties window. If you have that tab open it will show real time radius values as you drag the dot.
@@thetinkerverse That's great to know!😀 Thank you 👍
I wish they can adapt Lightburn to Vinyl Cutters such as a Cricut as their softwarde is pretty much useless. Lightburn is such a great program
I despise the cricut software. LB would be awesome for that.
For the Taper Warp feature, will the "Frame>contour" reflect the Warp as it will appear on the engraved part?
That's a good question. I don't personally have a setup to do tapers but I can ask in the dev group and see what they say.
Hmm… I wonder if those draggable guide lines could be “hijacked” to pick up the laser locations from the XTool S1?
light burn is a great program however I would like to see some improvements with the layer system and their assigned settings for each job.
Can you expand on this for those not as familiar?

@@thetinkerverse yes.....about 5 times over the last 3 years
At 6:12, you say the radius is measured in pixels - I thought it was in the selected measurement units?
You are correct. Sometimes the mouth says things that don't connect with what the brain knows.
Does the taper function work with multiple items? Meaning I have a wrap with several parts, will it taper the grouping?
It looks like it, yes. I stacked 2 circles on top of each other, grouped them and then applied the taper warp. Both circles were modified as I'd expect.
Is there a chance you guys will link AI to light burn?

Is there a function for circles on a cup?
If it's a straight taper, the taper warp should work for you. If it's bowed then I'm not sure if there is an easy answer for that.
Any idea when this will be released?
Most popular question so far :) Unfortunately I don't have an answer at the moment. Jason and crew haven't said.
for some reason I don't see the blue dot for the corner radius. Why could this be?
Nvm, i see it is there only before converting to path mode. So, it still needs to be in shape mode. Thanks for the great vid.
