What a little beauty. All she ever needed was the right diet, love, and above all care. And when she finally received that just look at how she turned out. Bless you for saving this lovely little pony. They give so much. It is just a pity that some humans do not.
You know it makes no sense for a 67 yo guy who knows NOTHING about horses to watch this with tears running down his cheeks. WHY is it a person can become so into a feel good video? This poor little pony hasn't been abused on the normal sense, but she has been neglected and maybe it's not as bad, but it's not good either. I find it amazing how you can look at a horse and pretty much have an idea what to do to help, provided it can be helped. I'm sure some can't be😢😢😢. Seeing her improvement over as short a period as 30 days or so is just cool. I can only imagine what she will look like in a year with the proper grain, grazing on some good healthy grass and hay. Getting her nutrients you spoke of and lots and lots of care, patience and love. Care is one thing, but love is a totally different avenue in my book. Love is the extra things. The walks, the belly rubs and scratches, even just going out and talking to these guys and gals so they get to know your voice. Maybe I'm getting silly with my thoughts, but I always thought that if your going to rescue an animal then go all the way. I understand you took her in to find her a forever home and it sounds like you've done that as well. Your heart is a big as all outdoors and I truly enjoy these videos when everything goes as planned. Thank you for giving this little girl a 2nd shot at life❤❤❤ Hope you'll give an update down the road.
You are a very kind person. There are lots of us who cry over these videos because we love the horses. Some of us cry for the Clever Cowgirl who works so hard then sends her successful project horses to new homes. She loves them all, I am sure, but moves them on to bright futures. Your tears are something to be proud of. It shows you really care.
@ronallen6578 - In a world where this level of kindness and care are so undervalued, your response does make sense. Your empathy for this little pony is likely what drove your reaction. There is no shame in this. At 68 years old, I know no more about horses than you and this video gave me chills. Seeing her initial condition was heartbreaking. But seeing her care and recovery and imagining her in a home that will continue the loving care given to her in this video is indescribable.
You could tell she is a sweet natured girl. With your love, care and attention She just totally bounced back! She’s frisky, her coat looks healthy and glossy and she filled out ; she just looks SO, SO, Happy 😊. Thank you for taking such good care of this sweet tempered little lassie and finding her a good home.
I rescued several horses when I had horse farm for 12 years. I'm retired now with poor health, but each one of them was beautiful and happy once they were reconditioned. I had to rely on experts for nutrition advice and foot care, so I have such a high respect for you with the knowledge you have and your ability to take care of the feet of your horses. I wish there were more people in the world like you.
Did you videotape your Rescues, I have great respect for people who save Animals from a life of Cruelty, Starvation and negligence and restore them back to life.
I can't put into words on youtube the level of contempt I have for people that abuse/neglect animals. I'm glad she had found someone who is worthy of her
Love the story of the pony being rehabilitated through love, diet, and hoof care. So amazing that you don't need a farrier! They said at the boarding barn that she was nasty, and you found her to be a good minded little pony. We live in such different worlds, and yours is the one I'd pick given a choice!
Apparently this little girl was at that barn her entire life. Foals (baby horses) can be nippy when they're younger if not taught to behave themselves. It could be that once she tried to nip someone as a baby, she was labeled as mean. In a way, that was good so she wasn't physically abused. It's a lot easier to start with a blank slate than one that's had rough handling.
She looked so happy kicking up her heels feeling happy in her runaround pen. She knew you were going to care for her and was so happy to come with you straight away ❤❤❤
I've watched plenty of rescue videos, but this one really moved me. She's not only pretty -- there's an alert, engaging quality to this pony, that makes me think she will be wonderful to train. I'd love to know how she does!
I'm a senior as well that knows nothing about the care of horses except what have seen on these videos. But have always loved horses. Being a retired trucker. have seen horses in the wild, ranches and farms. They were always one of most beauty part of the scenery when there were some. Then there are people like yourself that have dedicated yourselves to keep animals healthy and a joy to watch while we travel no matter what a kind of animal it is. So other than the animals themselves, there are millions of us others that appreciate your dedication
I know zero about horses / ponies / donkeys --- But there is such a sweetness to her. Seeing her transformed from neglected into a pony with a glossy coat and having joy in life, is absolutely wonderful! Bless you and all people who give their time, skill & love in helping those dear animals who have been forgotten, neglected or cast out. Be blessed!
I did animal rescue for years and seeing a scared, sad, abandoned, hopeless neglected animal blossom into happiness, health, and beauty like this poor little girl is SO rewarding. What you do is wonderful! Look at her, kicking up her heels!❤❤
Aw what a rewarding feeling to turn this poor neglected girl into a healthy well mannered pony!!?? I've had a couple rescues and it's so wonderful to see the transformation, physically and mentally. You do a great job! ❤
I'm so glad you could just eye her, and see things that needed to be done, and make nutritional changes, etc. I could barely recognize her! Incredible!
The rough hair coat and not shedding out is from being wormy. She has a cute face and kind eyes, I have no idea how anyone can mistreat animals like this and not be in jail. I’ve had horses my whole life, I love them and can’t stand to see them hurting. Bless you for taking her. Love & light ❤♈️
Poor little thing in the beginning and because of you she is absolutely stunning. Thank you for rescuing and bringing them back to health. You definitely know what you're doing. The transformation is so awesome.
She’s absolutely beautiful- before and after. But I’m so thankful she had you to help her glow as she should. She’s so dear. I love her energy and spirit.
⚡️The lightening bolt blaze down her face speaks to the new spark of life you gave her. I love what you do for them Dear and glad for you that she lives close.⚡️
You say you give them time, I say you are just patient. You're willing to adjust to their needs and they are then willing to show you their strengths. These horses ask so little of us and you are willing to listen when others "don't have the time"...or really just don't care.
I read all these heroic adoptions of older neglected ponies and horses. I had a wonderful horse. I had never had a horse. She enjoyed the new stable my sons made for her. I would clean up the droppings and wheel them way down the pasture and dump them into a large bin. She would watch me. About a week later she walked way down to the bin, turned her back to it and SHE POOPED INTO THE BIN. She did it to help me! Someone had told me a long time ago that horses were not smart. They sure are! About a year later she developed an infection in her lower leg. After the vet came out several times to treat her leg several times, he said she is not responding to everything he tried. He advised to put her down. Matt Gomulak, DVM, watched me baptize her before he gave her the med to end her misery. He then said to me something I will always remember. 'Kris I believe all horses go to Heaven'. I believe that also, but to hear a Vet say that reassured me that I will be with her again.
A book I LOVED as a child is called Summer Pony. This pony reminds of Mokey, the pony in the book. I still read it every once in awhile as an adult. Like Mokey, she was saved and had a wonderful forever home in the end.
This gurl just won the pony lotto!!...so cute her neighs when exiting the trailer..like "what's going on here?! " 👍🏼😁 Great job with the transformation...😍😻❣️
She has a well-bred little head, but that's quite some feather she has on her! She has a nice 'round' native-type pony action. As long as you caught the hooves, and by extension her joints, in time - and I think you probably have - she'll be a sturdy, sure-footed little thing, who'll be fun for all the family when she's grown - adults can drive her, and young children can ride her. Well done!
Taking care of any pet, especially horses, takes effort, knowledge, and most of all love. It’s worth it because in the end they always give more than they get. Great first horse for a loving family
Sutting on my rescue, badly abused it took 5 years to turn her around and into a 4 time state champion. Best horse I've ever had and she threw great babies. Good on you for doing this.
Why do people get animals and then not properly care for them? Thank goodness for people like you. She turned into a beautiful little Princess. Thank you for helping her and making sure she went to a wonderful, responsible home.

OMG what a difference! Hard to believe the transformation but well done. So happy she will be in a good home and healthy. Thanks for taking a chance on her and giving her, now, a far better life.
