Most will never be this "truthful" about their life in politics, when "retired" - because they still want to get paid as "consultants", etc. and have the support of their party.
Now I hear that other GOP Senators who agree with Romney are leaving the party for fear of threats to them and their families. If they seriously wanted to do something for our country, they would stay and speak the truth. I believe there is more who believe in the old GOP, then there are that who do not. One of the slipperiest slopes in politics is that of confounding and conflating personal and partisan interests with the public interest. The problem with Romney speaking out is this. He is a lone wolf right now, same as Liz Cheney was, same as GOP from TN Bob Corker, they spoke out about Trump by themselves and they were easily squashed by Trump and MAGA followers. There has never been a stand of MANY GOP leaders against Trump and the MAGA wing of the GOP, and until that happens, except more of the same.
Side note, the day after Romney lost to Obama, Trump filed paperwork to run for president for 2016 and he trademarked the phrase, "Make America Great Again".
Why didn't Dump "Make America Great Again" in 2008 or 2012??? He KNEW he WOULDN'T win and LYING about it being stolen WOULDN'T WORK!!!
The message of Romney is what a huge group of Republicans are feeling. The issue The average non Maga republican has is no one represents us. The few like Romney and Chaney do are quiting.
