Ayyyy! Good lookin' out Max. Six years later and this helped me save a long discarded transformer prime.
if u find your self with an older version that does not support recovery adb, go to advanced (in twrp) and click sideload, then instead of using "adb push" use "adb sideload" and the file name after it, this will directly install the zip file on the phone. done
This should get pushed to the top
Thanks! I found this out through a forum but your comment is spot on.
Awesome! You're a lifesaver, Magic mushroom!
+Metaorange And thank you and thanks to Max as well!
Thx... saved me
error:closed. ????? help.
You just saved my life (at least $500 worth), I spent 4 hours watching youtube tutorials using odin and all kinds of other things to unbrick my device and you were the only one who had a video describing my exact situation with such an easy to follow tutorial. Keep up the good work!
Nice! Clear and working guide. Its the first one I watched with Max Lee, but definitely not the last one.
Yo
You just save my day. Used on Oneplus and No data is lost. Happy to get back all of my data. A big Thanks!!!
Thanks, saved my phone, 12hours learning how to do my phone back, and i got this with your help
Over the past 3 years I've had to do this about 4 to 5 times since I'm always using a custom ROM and I get bootloop issues, I always keep coming back to this video. You're a life saver Max!
ERROR : CLOSED
After the botched Android N OTA this morning, this was the ONLY video that helped me sideload the file back onto my device. Thanks for this man! Excellent work!
mine says error: closed when i try to sideload it
If you have this "The system cannot find the path specified", just skip the "cd downloads" and "cd fastboot" part. It's only to direct the cmd to open the folder in which you put your fastboot folder.
INSTEAD
1. Open your fastboot folder, press Shift + Right click wherever on the folder and select "open command window here".
2. Make sure the files is already inside the folders
3. Inside the cmd, type: adb push filename /sdcard/.
to make the command of your filename right, only type the 1st phrase of your file and then press Tab on your keyboard (Just ike on the video). Sometime it'll appear using " ", sometimes doesn't
Him: First thing you do is boot into twrp...
Me: Tab doesn't boot into twrp...
Go to download mode, Flash twrp using odin
Locked bootloader. LFMAO
@@valeriogirolami6170 i got TWRP flashed with locked bootloader
@@user-tj7hk1ss8d is there a good video you could suggest that would walkthrough that?
@@user-tj7hk1ss8d how
Man u made me learn something. I got my Zuk Z1 OS removed accidentally, somehow I got into twrp and then followed your steps which was like fresh water in a desert. But I did a small change since my device was not recognised, I choose ADB in twrp, swiped, adb devices, adb sideload cm13xxxxx and enter.
Great tutorial!!!!!
So how do you get TWRP on your phone in the first place if your phone is completely dead / bricked? The recovery mode lets you install something from ADB but I can't even access that at the moment.
Did you end up finding a way around this? I have the same problem.
1. Download Odin tool (if you have samsung phone) and twrp tool for "your devices"; 2. Extract in C:/ or where you want the odin.rar or zip; 3. Put twrp (it's called twrp.img/tar) into odin folder (already extracted); 4. Start Odin.exe, as you can see there are (BL- AP - CP - CSC - USER DATA) check first the little box at AP then click AP and choose the directory where you put twrp.img/tar and select it. Into the option tab just check/hit only (Auto Reboot & F.Reset Time) and nothing else. Once done, link your smartphone device with usb cable at pc... wait till Windows recognize and autoinstall drivers. Now turn your phone on and bring it in download mode (pressing vol down + home + power as samsung device). Odin will recognize your device and will show it in ID:COM with blue status bar and you will see also the log tab info.. Now just hit Start on Odin and wait till you see the process in Log tab it's all done/completed. Your phone will reboot and you have now twrp on your device. Just disconnect from usb cable & hit exit or close Odin.

This adbd's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set; try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.
Help!
When typing the adb fastboot commando i get a serial code, so that's working.
But when I try to push my flashable .zip file, it says "error: device not found". I have a 64gb Oneplus One and I accidentally removed my internal storage, so no OS, and now I'm trying to install OxygenOS, but I encounter this problem.
Any help appreciated, I can't survive without my phone haha ;)
EDIT: Yay, I fixed it!!! My problem was that I had the wrong ADB Drivers installed haha ;)
Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Samuel Winter what driver do you need to download in order it to work? My one plus one doesn't want the drivers which he says to install..... help man
Alwin Van Gent I used the universal adb driver, but if that's not working, try the samsung adb driver.
Thanks Max, worked on my Galaxy Note 4 (It's only a test, I don't have a No OS problem).
How to send file to devices without sdcard? Cmd plz. Becuase gt-p7500 don'n have sdcard.
Dude... you're a life saver. I had rooted my Kindle Fire HDX 7 back at the start of last month and installed CM 11. At the end of the month I got a notification that CM 11 had an update, so I downloaded it and installed it.
Boom - bootloop. It's been borked for almost two weeks and I was at a loss as to how to get back in action. I actually bought another Fire (the $50 model) thinking this one was now a paperweight. Thank you for saving my tablet.
Don't know what I'll do with the other one. Maybe use it for work since it's cheap and I won't have to worry about it breaking it.
does this work in stock recovery.,? because i cant install twrp im stuck in recovery mode.,,
mike charles Manuel I think you need to be rooted for TWRP to work...just Incase you are not
go to download mode, and then u search on youtube how to install twrp/cwm in your devices
Thanks man, I was freaking out but I followed your instructions and recovered my OnePlus One!
Cara! passei 3 dias tentando e rodando pela net pra recuperar o meu htc, E como no dia que fiz o root... Voce apareceu !! Muito obrigado Sr. Chang. oque o senhor faz é incrivel!

My Samsung Galaxy Tab S is not recognized as unknown in device manager, its recognized as an MTP USB Device and i cant install the driver onto it, please help ;(
+Laughing Waffles same for nexus 7, gonna trash it then ig
Same problem With ME Bro!
i fixed it, ill tell how later. im pretty busy right now
+Laughing Waffles TELL US PLEASEE!!
Download fastboot.zip and unzip it, then copy the os youre gonna flash to the fastboot folder. Open up a cmd and type cd downloads (if you unzipped fastboot in downloads) then type cd fastboot. Connect your android device to your pc, in TWRP go to advanced and press on ADB sideload. In the cmd you have open type sideload *filename* (The name of the os youre gonna flash) . And thats about it
If someone can't find the file after a adb sideload you MUST set up the option MTP disable otherwise it will not works (the option can be find on the mount menu in the recovery mode)
YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!! Thanks man!
I was freaking out... when I went to do the push, it kept giving an error: closed. I was like GAAAAH. But then I realized I had adb sideload ON on the phone (when I did adb devices, it showed my device was in sidebar, not recover, not paying attention). I turned it off and the transfer went fine. THANK YOU LIFESAVER. I AM NOT WORTHY!
+NetBoySteve How did you resolve it. I am getting the same error "error: Closed".
Please advise what you did to fix the issue.
+NetBoySteve What did you turn off, after which the transfer went fine?
Thank you .. you saved my life :D .. actually my phone's life :P
This is so great man! You helped me save my phone, I didn't even know I can do that. The phone has been detected as an external drive without installing any driver. Big THX
It worked! You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Cool!
hi sir!
in my computer..Android ADB Interface isn't there at 5:05 in the video...
only the 2nd and 3rd appeared..
what happened?
my phone has absolutely no OS installed, it's a LG VS810PP. When I boot it up it just stays at the LG logo, and will not shut off unless the battery is removed, any way to get it to the TWRP menu without having an OS or am I just screwed?
+Agent DoubleOG same problem here, i am using a LG G4
Mihai Ciobanu I know there are tools that you can use on the PC to flash a ROM onto it, even with our "hard bricked" phones. Problem is though, the VS810PP isn't popular and I have yet to find a ROM for it. The LG G4 on the other hand is more popular and you may find one on sites such as XDA Developers or something.
Its ok, I just updated the firmware ota by using lg bridge and now i am on 6.0 and works perfectly
Mihai Ciobanu Nice, all I need is a ROM and I'll be on my way :D
+Agent DoubleOG fastboot
You don't need to plugin into your PC. The TWRP itself has a file manager where you can move any files from internal memory to external memory !
Genius!!!! i try so many times with adb sideload "name file"....and says "cannot read" i use push like you AND WORK!!!
Thanks! Saved my phone when I wiped everything and realized I never downloaded the CM Rom!
IN CMD IT SAYS ACCESS IS DENIED PLZ HELP ME PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Hi there! I just wanted to say a big great huge THANK YOU!!!!! I started experimenting with installing TWRP recovery and custom roms to my Redmi 4A, and as a newbie I messed up a bit during TWRP installation (stuck to logo). Your tutorial has let me install the file (lazyflasher) that for some reason I hadn't copied in my storage and now I can get into my phone again!!! :D THANK YOU!!
Could you please explain in detail
how you did it please??
@@hammadferoz502 Sorry Hammad, I only didn't this once and it's been a while, so I don't remember the process. I just followed tutorials I found online. Sorry I can't be of more help.
@@erikokkalidou2145 Okay NP but could u at least tell which tutorials to follow and what the lazyflasher is used for?
Max Lee, You my man, are an android god. It worked nicely and effortlessly. Here I thought I just ruined my phone and NOPE!! You saved it. Thank you!!
thanks i was stuck at the point with no idea how to transfer files in twrp mode and you have saved me in that :) thanks Lee
You are No.1 my man! I turned my Galaxy Nexus back to life, after I formated my sdcard. Thank you! You are great! :)
hey Max what if I don't have a custom ROM? I wiped my Nexus 7 and I have no OS installed including a custom ROM.
Please make sure you are connecting your phone to USB 2.0 port. Universal Android Driver from Google does not work with USB 3.0 as of yesterday 4/16/2018. I had my LeEco Le Pro3 phone without OS and I didn't have a backup.
Yes always use USB 2.0 port if possible.
one request to you
1. what are dos and donts when you messed at bootloop
2. what are the pre requisites and procedure to install a bootloader on hard bricked device
i am a big fan of your work you keep the things real clear an d i hope you soon upload a video tutorials to get rid of hardbrick
For everybody saying they cannot find their device when using TWRP and command "adb devices" you need to disable MTP inside TWRP's "Mount" Menu. This will fix your issue and you should be able to find your device and transferring whatever you want
+Kiwironic I tried that, and it still doesnt find me device. Do you have any other ideas?
+Stakesby16 make sure you have the right drivers, good cable and MTP disabled. That should do it, otherwise otg is your next sure thing
great video man :)
thanks a lot,it was really informative.
i just have an issue , my friend have a non rooted device and his os is down. Is there any way to install twrp in that?
nope
download twrp dump recovery for your devices and then boot into fastboot mode now use this command " fastboot boot twrp.img " and it will boot into custom recovery then u have use adb sideload for pushing files :D problem solved
hey after i gave that command it says waiting for any device
Edgar Lemus asked 3 months ago what to do if you don't have an OS or recovery. This is the problem I have on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 which makes it a very pricey paperweight. I've searched all over including extensively in the XDA forums. Every guide needs you to have either the OS or recovery like twrp. I have neither. The drivers for the KFHD8.9 also will not install on windows 10. I have the android SDK studio and platform tools installed but there is no communication between my pc and kindle using adb commands. I also cannot get it to go into fastboot no matter what I try.
Thank you ahead of time for your response.
what about internal sd card currupted?
cant even read or write....
hey uh.. after i typed in "adb devices" there are no serial numbers along with the word "recovery" with it. there's only a word says "List of devices attached". and nothing happens
hi max, i used a rooted meizu m2 note, while trying to unroot i delete some system app and the device restart itself. but the start up cannot proceed and stuck when the flyme icon appears, i wait untill the battery runs empty. after charginf fully and attemp to switch on the device same thing happen. when connect with the computer the computer cannot detect the device, what should i do...please help
after i type "./adb-mac devices" on my terminal it doesnt show me my device that is plugged in and nothing. it wouldnt give me my device model nor say recovery. my twrp version is 2.6.3.0
Hey Max. Thanks for the video. I have a question. I've pushed the .zip file into this route "/sdcard/." including that dot. Then i tried it without the dot and it worked, but there's space "missing" in my sdcard, i think that the first push actually copied the file into the sdcard but i can't see it, so, how can i delete it?
Thanks you.
it shows the error : devices "(null)" not fond
what should i do?
hey so i tried your method but the phone driver is already installed and i cant install the adb driver, also there is no serial number in command adb devices. what should i do?
When I try to install the zip file on twrp it says invalid zip file format! Error installing zip file '/sdcard/ZUI_2.5.334_ST_170116_qpst.7z.zip'
you forgot the period
Stuck in a boot loop from your previous video, logo turns blue but TWRP doesn't load
Yow MAx!!! Bro you have saved the entire nation!!! I had to disable MTP for my device to show! Thanks cuhz!
