I think the pot is perfect. With a minimalist pot the eye is really drawn to the showpiece of the plant- all that frilly frond magic! It really creates a nice composition with this plant.
Thank you! Sorry for the delayed reply, takes me awhile to see all my messages from videos older than a couple of weeks. Hope you and your plants are thriving! 😊
Hey Tropical! Just watched and sharing the love for this yucca. I picked up a big guy at Lowes today that had a price tag of $399 and got home for $50. I am crazy in love! Great videos and info! Wish me luck on keeping Big Tex alive.
I found one on Etsy and its coming from Texas, its about 40 inches, Im so happy, I can hardly wait till it gets here :) Thank You for sharing this video :) xoxoxoox
Wow..how cute and cool...congrats on getting one of your dream plants...i can feel the excitement in your tone💗 i do not have any yuccas in my collection....but my mom does...and every time me and blaze go to visit...kitty want to munch it 😔
Oh i'd imagine if I brought this inside my cats would eat it up! ..oh but the trunks! they probably couldn't reach the foliage. ... hadn't even thought of that! lol!
Nice plant, it can handle -20c, elate can handle even more. I plant or pot these in allmost 100% lava. Dont cut the leaves, it protects the trunk. Btw dont ty the leaves up like with a cordyline, you will get rot, just put an umbrella or something over it to protect from snow and rain when it gets to bad.
@@TropicalPlantParty i have about 20 or more big ones i think, all different varieties. Hundreds of seedlings and small ones/hybrids. I live in a climate that gets about -5 yearly and -20rarely but 4months of allmost dayly rain in winter. Rostrata can handle wet, but i prefer linearis, elata, faxoniana, torreyi. They grow about 1m/10yrs trunk here with short 20-30c summers. You have a nice specimen, looks very blue, could be the sapphire skies or blue swan. Watch out for room humidity beeing to high, they will get spots on the leaves, dont water in winter, can get without water for months. But they like alot of water in summer.
Oh wow! You have a yucca paradise! 😍 Oh I don't plan on pruning the leaves from the trunks, i like how they look and they protect the plants. I was very surprised how blue this is, I'm curious to see if that is going to change with my soil when it goes into the ground. I'm glad you mentioned the spots with the humidity, I was thinking I should probably move it out of my grow space or to the corner with the other where the air is more dry. Thanks for the tips! Thrilled to have heard from a yucca guru!
I've always been partial to Joshua Trees, but the rostrata looks pretty neat (and the foliage doesn't appear quite as dangerous as aloifolia, I've got battle scars from moving one of those).
Oh the foliage is much softer in comparison to the aloifolia. I used to have some large variegated aloifolias and I ended removing them bc they kept stabbing me and was worried my dogs would be injured.
Hi I live in Long Island New York Ive been growing these here fro about 10 years now I have one ( Actually have 7 or 8) but one that is now 5 1/2 years old is about 6.5 to 7 feet tall I got it at the same height you planted this one at I have never protected any of them any the are doing great we have wet winters here too Eveyone thinks its a palm tree how is this one doing for you now
I just ordered one of these. I live in Knoxville, Tennessee (Zone 7a) with hot summers, but sometimes wet winters. I didn't realize it had to be kept dry in the winter when I ordered it. It should arrive in a week. It's probably smaller than your plant, but does have a trunk on it. Since it is going to be spring, should I still put it in a pot or plant it in full sun in the yard. My dirt is almost all clay, so should I did a deep hole and add some stone, sand or pebbles for drainage. I hate to lose it after dropping close to $200 on it. Thanks for all the info.
Hi! I live in Texas zone 8a. We just had the coldest freeze in 100 years, snow, etc. I have 5 rostrata planted outside in the ground and they all made it. I didn’t have them wrapped or protected in any way. I did go out there and knock the ice off the “branches” because it was weighing them down. I don’t know about my soil, the nursery where I bought them did the planting.
💚 Yucca plants are pretty. I have tried to keep them growing but I haven't had much luck. I have been thinking about getting a new one but I want it to last a long tiime!
I know this video is pretty old, but what happened to the rostrata? Annnnd what palm is that in the background just to the right, once you put the rostrata in the garage
Still have it! Nothing much has happened with it, could use a repot at this point. That palm was a massive spindle palm! I loved it so much but eventually it got to be way to heavy to get in and out, was popping tires on the tree cart and even split some muscles (wont go into detail) the last time I moved it.
Hey palm daddy! Awesome name! 😂 it's doing great! It flushed out lots of new growth last summer and I'll probably be moving it back outside for this year in a few weeks.
@@TropicalPlantParty awesome! I just rescued one a bit larger from a nursery that didn't know how to care for it, so I am now trying to bring it back to vigor....it was shipped bare root so it still needs to sprout new roots. I am using transplant fert and good draining soil/sand/vermiculite mix.
Do you plan on keeping it in the ground??? They are hardy to zone 5b but cannot handle any snow at all just so you know they will need a plastic cover in winter just for anti moisture but not cold!
I'm undecided, but ultimately would like to plant them outside someday. If I do I will protecting them from moisture, even though the ones I see grown around are never covered, just not worth the risk to me since they are expensive and not so easy to come by.
I think the pot is perfect. With a minimalist pot the eye is really drawn to the showpiece of the plant- all that frilly frond magic! It really creates a nice composition with this plant.
Thanks! Trying to learn about cacti & tropicals. Appreciate your knowledge.

Love it! It's so beautiful 😍
thank you, Christine! It is my newest obsession in my collection. ..which is unfortunate since it is a yucca that grows like a snail. lol.
OMG you get cool plants
lol! Thanks Jeff!
That is one seriously nice plant :) xx
I love it so much!
It is ginormous.. so perfect
Hi kathy! 😊 I'm so happy with it, this is one of my dream plants!

Oh I forgot to post the link! I'm sorry! I think the seller on etsy is the same as the one Ebay based off of their prices and photos.

Just got one of these. Not as big as yours. Doesn't have the trunk yet but still large. I was so happy when I planted it.

No problem, leaf color will stay the same, just put it in full sun. Love your videos btw, curious to see the progress on this one. grtz from belgium.

They are certainly easier to grow outside in the garden than in the home.
@@TropicalPlantParty Yes I wish I had a garden.
Hey dude, beautiful example. Can you tell me what those pink leaves are in the background please?

@@TropicalPlantParty oh wow maybe I missed some rostrata updates but I’d love to see it in some new videos!!
These plants grow naturally in the wild where I live in Abilene, TX.
If you can get your hands on a few of these yucca please let me know.
Gdzie taka piękna kupiłeś i jaka cena była

How is it doing now? Has it rooted?

I live in New Jersey and have had them in the ground for about 8 years. Lots of wet snowy winters with no protection
@@normanwilbert3848thanks.
