    Maybe you should do valve seals on bmw N63 with engine inside 😅
    That’s what I have to work on next

    hey Can you please help me with my Audi q7 3.6 I had the timing chain replaced at the dealership which was a 10K repair But not after having a low oil pressure light come on when the car was parked at an angle I have gotten a bad oil leak that only happens after the rpms go down from a cold start like its pouring oil out of a can. It doesnt do it when its in high RPM's can you please help me?? I think its either the oil filter housing assembly or oil cooler and its in a horrible place that you cant see anything and i really dont want to have to drop the engine out like you did to get to the oil cooler or the oil filer housing assmbly. I cant find a single video or form of anyone doing it on the a 3.6 audi q7 Engine i can find every other one but the 3.6?? has no one had this issue?

    The manual has a very clear procedure for setting the top chain.

    Great video. I had all my marks lined up in my cayenne but some slack like you had on yours and cams didn’t line up perfect. Reinstalled engine and had correlation code. Removed again and am trying your half tooth trick! Did it work perfectly for you??

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for visiting my channel, here is a link for you to have a better idea why you got correlation codes, you can lineup all timing marks perfectly but if you dont lock the cam adjusters then you will get correlation codes n that is the only reason. th-cam.com/video/bTgVy2c9YWY/w-d-xo.html

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      unfortunately when i did this job i lost some videos because my memory card got corrupted and i could not recover those videos, so i could not show them, the cam gear sprockets have the cam adjusters in the center and you have to lock the cam adjusters before installing the timing chain and u will relize you have not locked them correctly once u install the timing chain and try to turn over the engine and then relize the cut outs in the camshafts dont lineup any more and u cant place the camshaft locking tool any more, n that is because the cam adjusters have not been locked correctly. dont install the engine like that.

      @@JM-AUTO got it! Thanks for the response. Yes, my cam adjusters were locked. I do have all the lock tools hold the cams in place when setting the timing chain on.
      Did it run well when you moved the cam pump gear half a tooth?

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@austinnigh2989 yes it ran very well with no problem but i did that because i have less than 10 degrees of difference between both camshafts and every case is different, if you have more than 10 degrees between cams at the time of setting the time you will get correlation codes, if you locked the cam adjusters then n when you turn the engine over n you cant place the locking tool any more then your cams might be defective, those are the only 2 things that cause the correlation codes.

    Hey @JMAutoRepairnum1 hope you are good.
    Fisrt of all thank you very much for this really detailed video, it helps a lot!
    So I followed everything you said religiously (cam ajusters all the way to the right and cam gears all the way to the left) and I am able to have everything lined up perfectly without the chain tensioner in place.
    But when I start to screw the chain tensioner all the way, the slack on the chain disappears and the tension of the chain starts to pull the intake cam gear back to the right and then the marks with the notch and the arrow 24 don't line up perfectly anymore. So after that when I rotate the engine, of course, the cams are not ailgned and I can't place the tool.
    This is driving me crazy as I don't see any way of locking the intake cam gear all the way to the right when turning the engine!
    Would you have any magic ideas or suggestions?
    Thank you very much.

    How much to do a complete timing chain job on my vw touareg sane engine? Mine still drives but i can hear it rattle ??

      @JM-AUTO  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi Jesse, it should be around $3000 but it can vary a little bit some times, dealer parts are more expensive after market cost less, most of the time when engine comes out other thing have to be replaced too, it all depends.

  • @peterbondar4314
    @peterbondar4314 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi, the marks in not correct, you have to use black marks on the chain and line up perfectly with tooth, I had to remove engine again and move the chain how should be on the marks and correlation code gone. chain may have a slack. thanks.

      hi, unfortunately i did not buy it my self but i got the kit through a friend of mine including the pistons and that was very good stuff, i would recommend you if you are going to buy a timing chain kit, og online like ebay/amazon and see who has good rated selling these kits sinnce these vehicles are very picky and also contact them, best way to go is the dealer but very expensive, i did another one after this one but the owner bought every thing. good luck with the job.

After assembly I am getting code P0366 Cam shaft B bank one signal implausible. we swapped sensors between cams and still get same code. We opened top again and timing is still good, tool slides right inn when crank shaft is on time mark. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi, im following everything same on your video. I did it upper chain same as like you but when i turn crank exhaust never locking again. Plate touching exhaust camshaft, 1 or 2mm on wrong position. When i correct exhaust camshaft with 27mm tool camshaft lock plate is locking. Is this normal? I spend 2 days for it but timing never be come on right. Please help me

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok the problem you having is when you put the cam gears that is all the key. the cam gears move once you try to turn over the engine and that is why you cant install the plate again between both camshfts,do not keep going because the entire job will be useless if you leave it like that and you will get correlation codes, before installing the cam gears you have lock the cam adjusters by turning them all the way to your right, (cam adjuster is the part in the center of the cam gear) so once you install the timing chain and turn over the engine you will be able to place the plate in the camshafts cut outs every time you want to and no matter how many times you turn over the engine.

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      th-cam.com/video/bTgVy2c9YWY/w-d-xo.html this is a link where i explain how you have to turn the cam adjuster all the way to the right before installing the cam gears, 2 different things: cam adjuster is the one in the center and the cam gear is the whole thing so you have to rotate the cam adjuster the one in the center all the way to the right so that way is locked and you can procede to intall it or install them so when you done with timing chain you can go a head and turn the engine over and you stop at the camshafts cut outs you should be able to place the plate in the cut outs between both camshafts and no matter how many times you turn the engine over. hope this helps you.

Elsa says; “if you cant place the lock tool you can move camshafts just a litlle bit with 27mm spanner”. Do you think am i on correct timing? @JM-AUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi thanks for your comment, can you tell me a little bit more about what is vainus timing or doun side beccause i dont understand those 2 words and i want to apologize for that, but there is only one way to set time, once cams are locked with the bar in each groove of the cams with cylinder one on tdc or timing marks in place, then tight cam caps, at the time of installing the camshaft gears/sprockets they can go only one way after you place them you rotate them to where the engine rotates when it is normally running and they remain like that with timing chain other wise once you rotate the engine the cams are going to lose time again and you wont be able to place the bar between the cams after you rotate the engine

    • @JM-AUTO
      @JM-AUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      do not install any timing chain covers until you rotate the engine as much as you can and you still able to place the bar (locking tool) between the cams.
