    Sad day for DMZ, but I believe there is hope for an even better DMZ in a future Call of Duty...

    What made DMZ special isnt just that its an extraction shooter (in fact extracting isnt the most vital thing to it, since you dont lose much). What made DMZ remarkable was the fast paced nature that would have you moving around looting and killing many bots, with constant action and the most important thing: unpredictability. You could start a match with one of many goals in mind and you would end up doing something different depending on the circumstances. Such a unique feeling

    • @iAmDiBBz
      @iAmDiBBz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      thats exactly what made it terrible tho. as it wasnt even an extraction shooter at that point. it was just straight up a BR lite game mode in the sense. And then to top it all off. Their AI system was a joke... Dont build a extraction based shooter unless you have systems in place to provide fun investment into. Because decent gunplay wont hold your interest forever. thats exactly what makes tarkov so great. they have you steadily progressing tasks granted some of them are a bit shit. but also progressively building a stash of equipment.
      Essentially it boiled down to a severe lack of the main part of what the game was supposed to be "extracting loot" as well as a not so impressive mission system

    The problem about DMZ is that mainstream streamers didn't want it to be popular, it was popular amongst casual below average to average players, myself included. I checked at my stats and I spent more time in DMZ than what I did with Warzone, I'm an average-above average player and I truly enjoyed DMZ but the sad reality was that. I've been playing DMZ since it launched with Season 1 of MWII and WZ2, I've watched the entire lifecycle of this game and what I can say is that the main problem that held the mode back was the excessively toxic PvP. PvP isn't a bad thing but people who only play to hunt others was definitely holding back all the good things DMZ brought as a mode. Although it wont be receiving new content, I'll never forget the great moments I had in this mode.

    • @ntdavis96
      @ntdavis96 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It lacked rules of engagement built into the mode by the devs. The players themselves actually killed the game. No need in coding and developing missions if 90% of the lobby just PvPd.

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wasn’t a DMZ pro or anything but those moments being hunted by those PvP players were what made the game mode exciting as it was. It forced you to 1. Become good at killing 2. Become good at running. Wouldn’t mind seeing this gamemode return.

      @@I-am-saT I'm with both of you. Came back to COD after years of not playing any PvP FPS games. DMZ brought me back to life, started getting good and really enjoying it, bought a few of the operator packs with DMZ perks and naturally pre-ordered MW3 thinking DMZ would very well continue on...as they said 'everything would carry forward'. Once the doubts about DMZ started setting in, I started regretting purchasing operator bundles and preordering MW3 overall. The guns, 15 minute cooldowns, free UAVs/2plate carriers/self rez's are all essentially worthless now. Lesson learned, I will never drop another dime on anything COD related.
      Now that I have MW3, I will play it, but no more money from me. Also, DMZ is still pretty fun even now, but it is strictly just PVP now.

    I stopped playing for 3 reasons:
    1) Building 21, Ashika and Vondel were small and PVP heavy. Leaving just Al Mazrah through the entire year as the only map I wanted to play in. Worse still was the fog on those maps which made it feel drab and uninteresting, even though they had some cool designs it didn't feel fun to explore because you couldn't see more than a block ahead of you anyway.
    2) PVP was cool and worked for the weapon cases but should have been discouraged more. Something had to be done about players that just camped the exfils, make them lose their stuff if they didn't complete at least 1 contract or kill 1 commander OR maybe hide the exfils until they completed either a commander kill or a contract, something that would prevent exfil camping.
    3) The mission resets and insured weapon slot reset was the final nail. I felt like all the work I put into the game was pointless and they'll just wipe again in the future anyway so I just stopped playing. I went to the kosheki complex once but as a soloist it was stressful because it seemed to be team orientated even though it encouraged PVP? I mean just play warzone if you like PVP so much, it's way more fun if you want an intense in your face fight.

    Phix the title should be DMZ is officially getting no more updates, this title is something we all talked about in chat. This is making a claim that DMZ is actually dead, its not and the servers will remain open. Every streamer want's to shed the darkest news, in the darkest way. What about the sentence where they said they will be using the DMZ content, for a future game mode, thats pretty positive. I did not watch this video, because the title is just click bait, I respect you as a streamer, and you've been one of my favorites for over a year now, don't fall into this false feeding... It's the players fault in a sense. Becoming so sweaty spawn hunting losers, caused the developers to probably view this more as a mini warzone/warzone junior. which in their eyes, makes it a WASTE OF MONEY. Blame it on the players who chose to simply not play warzone once they finished the faction missions. Y'all ruined it. Intent #1 was missions Intent number 2 was PVP.

    They should just split the Call of Duty universe into three and let the three main developers take a different section. IW/Raven can do Warzone and DMZ. Sledgehammer focus on Multiplayer and Treyarch do Zombies and Campaign. At least then each section will have a full team developing it.
    Multiplayer with Sledgehammer fully focused on it would be perfect. Imagine a fully fledged Campaign and a proper in depth Zombie mode like we had in WAW or BLOPS3.

    PVP is singularly responsible for the demise of DMZ, despite the game designer’s best efforts to curb PVP abuse with nerfed MRAP’s, outlandishly expensive UAV’s and JLTV’s, revoked 6-man teams, bounties, and murder bots. It’s profanely naive to believe that difficult access to 3-plate armor carriers could put a dent in the PVP player’s misbehavior when all of these other draconian efforts have failed so spectacularly. COD’s ultimate solution? Shutter the whole enterprise and put the PVE only mode the market so desperately craves behind a paywall.

    THE 2 MAIN REASONS DMZ DIED (imo)
    1. No Mission wipe after season 4
    2. Solos were getting killed by 6 man death squads with fire shotguns for 75% of the games life cycle.
    Also some other things such as the operator base where you collect screwdrivers & lightbulbs to unlock extended time on UAV tower. It took then to long to add that to the game. When was it added season 4?
    Think about it season 4 was the best seasonm we had a fresh wipe woth plenty of missions to do. We had the iperstoe base with a ton of unlocks to work towards. We had different types of 3 olate vest, and a fresh vondel map. Everyone was loving DMZ in season 4 EXCEPT people were still upset, getting killed by 6 man teams with shotguns.

For me the mode is about being in a group and socializing with all the random people in the world, that is the fun part. I'll continue to do that as long as the developers allow me to do so.
    This social aspect is greatly enhanced by dmz's mission style mode though, it's just not the same playing in warzone or deathmatches. I wish the developers focused more on DMZ, it is something special.

The pvp is not normal, competitive pvp, it’s toxic pvp. I’m not gonna drop dmz, but I’m having way more fun playing and grinding to unlock things in zombies. (I know this is not a popular opinion btw) thanks for always providing entertaining content! Cheers ✌🏼

    DMZ is the only game mode i play. I would die immediately when playing battle royale to the point that it's not enjoyable anymore. i just wanted to relax and play PvE, not stress myself out in battle royale

    I'm sure the game will return and actually, I'm quite thankful for the respite having solidly played for the past year. Time off was needed. I hate how cod games are built for addiction.

    I used to think 6 man platoons were a problem but when they reduced the limit to 4 players only it actually made it worse. At least back then if your squad got taken out you could get picked up. Now nobody picks anyone else up unless their solo. Combine that with the fact that everyone just wants to kill everyone else now it makes runs a lot more frustrating at times. I dont mind pvp here and there, it definitely makes things more interesting, but when you're trying to do a mission and keep getting targeted by hunt squads every time you spawn in, it gets old after a while. The pvp aspect has definitely taken over the game and made it more challenging

    I think you nailed it with the "paid for skins and weapons" bit about the way the PvP changed once they didn't fear losing anything. Ruined the game for a lot of us

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No different than any other game mode in terms of paid skins. I certainly fear losing every time I play DMZ, and I have bought stuff. You have to be Good! I can see why it’s disappointing if you suck. Very different skill set than grinding through regular MP games.

    Similarly to the MW2019 and the OG Warzone on Verdansk, DMZ was the first time I played CoD on a daily basis since I was in middle school playing MW2 and WaW. I just can’t justify downloading a 200gb game I don’t even own just to play one fun mode. It was nice while it lasted.

    I enjoyed DMZ and had some of the best experiences with people that I can remember. That being said if there was one more reason not to support Activision was how they sold game packs with perks specific to DMZ that they pulled the plug on after a few months.
    MW2 was it for me with this franchise.

    I'm honestly surprised they're not doing anything else with DMZ. They hyped it up like they were going to work on it separate from Warzone 2, which it was until they put it under the BR tab. It really seems like Activision hears what the community wants, then does exactly what we don't want

    Phixate I appreciate you I do. But the toxicity went through the roof after the first weekend. Only in the first few days or so when people were truly exploring the mode was there a balanced mix of pve and pvp. It just got worse and worse. I came from the division and around when building 21 came out I was just over it.

    I don’t think the DMZ we want isn’t recoverable from where it is now. Is sad that it won’t be supported any more, but I don’t think it’s the last extraction looter shooter we’ll see from CoD. DMZ will return and let’s hope this break will allow the devs to make a new DMZ that’s an even better experience.
    I’ll still be tuning into your streams bro 👍

    I’m playing till I can’t play anymore. Still got missions to do and for a game I downloaded for free I’d have bought mw3 if dmz was going to be continued in this but it’s not so I won’t be buying it. I’ve been playing cod games since 2010 and this has been the most enjoyable mode, everything about it the PvP,pve, missions and the general fact it’s like forest gump once said ‘DMZ is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get’! Dmz forever people ✌️

    As woefully out of balance the game is now with an over-saturation of aggressive PvP and no/very little “gear fear” anymore, I still find it fun even if it’s about to stay sweaty with no reset or new missions. Sad to hear the current state of DMZ will never change though. It definitely peaked hooked my interest in semi-casual extraction shooters and I hope for new+better experiences in this genre in the future, either within COD or other games

    when the majority of streamers used to promote the game. run around looking for their personal best operator kill streaks pretty much providing the example that lead to the constant lean towards pvp. its hard to buy the idea that our ability to get our gear back is the reason dmz went the way of the garbage bin. i mean honestly the last time i watched one of your vids you westie and his buddy were sitting outside of the exit to the butcher fight so you could snipe people coming out of that battle. but you go ahead and make up the reasons that will help you feel better about yourself.

    I'm only interested in DMZ, so I guess it means I won't be spending any money on current or future CoD content. Nice point with the bundles skewing possibility of specific changes, guess Activision's greed when designing them to interact with gameplay (including pay 2 win elements possibilities), did bite them in the behinds. Lets just hope they won't be doing anything to DMZ like they did to Warzone 1 to force players to switch (downtime, limiting modes and maps to the point of removing them).

  • @lonemanwolf8959
    @lonemanwolf8959 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I disagree 100% that pvp is necessary. If dmz had a pve only option I would still be and continue playing it. It sucks that content creators killed dmz. It sucks that the devs didn't take the clue and offer a pve only option or at the least a solo only separated lobby option. Dmz had true potential but like 99% of games now days never reached a 1/10th of that potential.

Constant exfil campers, constant hunting and even hacking. Reluctantly went to mwz. Fell in love with it. It's fresh, the community is awesome. Turns out pvp was the problem lol. Shock. Hopefully mwz just keeps growing.

    I enjoyed this mode so much, but alas the lack of content and the big reduction in risk mainly because of bundles, did shifted the way the game is played.
    Ironically the removal of 6 man platoons also heavily contributed to full PVP no pleas style of gameplay, which in turn contributed to less focus on missions.
