    I played that guitar at NAMM. It's killer!! Not only is the pickup tech insane but Ruokangas builds some of the finest guitars I've ever played!! He's a really nice dude too!!

    Great playing, and the guitar is killer. Ruokangas guitars are works of art, you can see and feel the dedication.
    I'm glad there are such people, always curious to chase perfection.

    I love how simple, rather complicated is it to do something completely new. Just because of the approach of the builder, which is rfeaking genious, I already like it. And even more because of this thing about acoustic similarities. I'll happily add it to my arsenal. But it is not available yet on his website. Awesomely done Juha

      The Valvebucker is a new thing and it's slowly making its way onto our website. You can find information about it here: valvebucker.com - and about the pricing... 🙏 The Valvebucker is a EUR 1200 additional option in our guitars. The guitars are starting from about EUR 3500 - so a guitar in that price level, with the VB in it would then be in the range of EUR 4700. That's here in Europe, and the prices adjust accordingly when exported out of EU.

    I’m not sure what I think about the pickup but the rest of the guitar is absolutely sick. The flame on the fretboard, the headstock, that finish...just straight fire.

    In the search for that ultimate tone, this comes close. Especially with the overdrive on. Truly the best mix of acoustic and electric. I thought the acoustatonic was close, bit this puts a whole new level to the "tone seekers" Valhalla. 👍

    A bunch of channels laughed at this guitar when it came out without knowing anything about it. “Oh, they’re putting tubes in everything to attract hipsters. Tubes in pedals, now tubes in a guitar,blah, blah, blah “ . Truth is this is thinking outside of the box. It sounds great in Ronquillo’s hands but it’s really niche and obviously not for everyone. Especially not for purists like myself who feel that less is more. But I’m not gonna knock it because it sounds really good.

    Innovation is key to moving music to a new place. Great Engineering, I would love to spend an hour with this baby. It appears to have wonderful tones right from the source, the string. Have him send one to Steve Via, and the other to Satchmoe. Great idea, I think this is gonna change things.Congratulations .

    Well some-one had to build one like this and this guy is doing an amazing job. Love to hear slide guitar playing on this. The wood quality looks to be A-1 too. The best thing is including a Whammy bar. From what I see and hear on the video it's a Fender Esquire/Gretsch/strat/valve mic(AKG) solid tube/Dobro inspiration? Well done!

    Very interesting. I would like to have that system on an acoustic instrument. Note to note definition was excellent and each note seemed to have the tube “bloom”. Could be “finger pickin’ good”.

      for what it's worth, Takamine actually developed an acoustic electric using a tube preamp that sounded pretty good! They're relatively rare, but you can still find them used if you poke around.

    There are more guitars with build in tube amps, like the Hoyer 25 ca 1955 but this is nice thinking anyway (and Ruokangas builds exceptional guitars)

    • @ruokangas
      @ruokangas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      cor vdb Thanks. The Hoyer is a whole different concept. As you said it is a built-in tube amp. The Valvebucker is an active pickup. More accurate comparison would be a tube microphone such as Neumann U47.

    Sounds really nice and I found this very interesting. I just wish it were played against a Les Paul and a Strat plugged into the same amp with same settings. I want to see how a tube driven active pickup stands up against the most classic humbucker and single coil guitar with the same EQ to evaluate its sonic value. What is it actually giving me that I can't get via more conventional tools? Round up a Strat and a LP before you leave town and shoot a comparison. PLEASE.

    Wow,I love the look of this guitar and it sounds great! How much will this cost and it would have been a good idea to play this against a LP jr. style guitar to emphasize any benefits of this tech!

      Curtis Chavez Thanks. We make these guitars on custom order. The cost of this model with the specs seen on the video is in the the US$5k range. Our other models can also be made with the Valvebucker option.

    Is the center area of the guitar hot??? And im curious about the ibanez ts amp over there, have you try it RJ?? If yes, whats ur opinion??

    • @ruokangas
      @ruokangas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      fedboy21 After being powered up for several hours the center area of the guitar is about body temperature level. Not hotter than that.

  • @gerryjamesedwards1227
    @gerryjamesedwards1227 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where is the plate DC voltage coming from? I'd be worried that it would sound like the tube-powered pedals that run off low voltages, when overdriven. I definitely would NOT fancy a full 300V under my right hand, which is why, I'm guessing, it hasn't been done before.

    • @ruokangas
      @ruokangas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gerry James Edwards It’s not high voltage. The guitar gets 12VAC from the floor and we up the voltage in the guitar to a level where the tubes work for real.

    • @gerryjamesedwards1227
      @gerryjamesedwards1227 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ruokangas Thanks for the reply. Voltage multiplier? That's good, if it is, as they don't deliver much current in the event of a short. It's an interesting idea, and a very full sound.

    Sounds like any other set up. Preamp/Amp in the guitar vs the pedal vs the amp itself. Really just looks like another remote method of control that doesn't require one to return to the mothership base of the amp and tweak the amp itself. Where you create this effect for what can be done another way already. They'll make them it's not for everyone, yet anyone can use it or not ? Is it anyhting more than a California Prop 65 label cancer causing product ? Use it at your own risk disclaimer with a release from liability for the manufacturer, rental or seller ?
