  • A quick review of a couple of Chinese catapults/slingshots bought from AliExpress.
    It isn't a sponsored review.
    In summary, they are surprisingly good. You get value for your money - if you don't mind waiting a while to get them!
    I bought mine here:
    AliExpress Store: Hunting Products Factory Store
    Store Number: Store No.3630005

    I just got back onto catapults after finding my old Blackwidow haven't fired a catty in 40 years.
    I bought both of these and I must say they are great would recommend them to anyone starting or getting back into the Sport/Hobby.
    Love the flat band cattys so accurate

      I have a Black Widow and a Diablo but find they work better with marble size ammo. I have to agree though, not as accurate.
      Chris @ #CatapultCarnage did a couple of videos on the Black Widow including a conversion to flat bands if you are interested:

    Bought the stainless steel one. Good quality and arrived within the week. Haven’t had much chance to play with it yet, but can’t be bad for under a tenner.

      As you say mate, can't be bad at that price.

    I got one of those stainless version different supplier - so impressed with it bought another. Have one set up with single Therraband gold bands and the other with a double set. The attachment system so far can't fault.

      Agreed on the attachment system. I haven't had any bands slip out. I have a few lengths of Theraband silver which I've used for slingshot bands, it works OK for shooting tins over 10m or so. I tried double bands but they didn't work for me i.e. I didn't like them. Each to their own though. I may try some of the pre-made Chinese bands from AliExpress in the future.

    Bought exact model, tried it three times with three shots, it tore off my elastic band by the third shot. Edges are so sharp, more so with the stainless metal sights. Plus handle is too short to give purchase on 5he hands hands unto the catapult. Maybe it was just a fluke or what. I'd suggest buy those big plastic or cast aluminum catapults with smoothened edges. Or maybe I need more practice, but how many bands will I expend before getting a knack for using these mini catapults? It's made of solid CMC machined stainless steel though and real wooden handles. Looks good but I'm not too sure it's the ideal catapult even for a person with small hands like me.

      I had loads of shots off my original bands, 200+ at a guess. If your catapult has sharp edges a bit of a rub with fine wet and dry paper might help. I use a wide spread grip with thumb and index finger spread wide on the forks, so only three fingers on the handle itself. I also shoot 'gangster' so I guess it's what suits you. Try a few different shooting styles, lots of helpful videos on here!

    I have the metal one and its just too small for a Adult Mans Hand really and digs into the hand also ..Much prefer a simple wooden fork OTT Slingshot But .7 Bands cut at the right size can rip 8mm steel Balls through a tin can at 25yds comfortably

    • @ECEtek

      I use a wide grip on the forks (Thumb and index finger) and only use my middle, ring and pinkie fingers on the handle and it works OK for me. You do risk hitting your thumb or forefinger with the ammo if you aren't paying attention to that draw hand alignment though!
      Agreed on the band size 0.7mm works for me too.

    Question is- do those sights work at all?

    • @ECEtek
      @ECEtek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question but I think you should really be asking:
      "Do those sights work for you at all?"
      For me - No, not really but ... I don't think it is the sights that are at fault in my case!
      Everyone will all have a preference. I didn't use them, have started (and stopped again). They work for some people, not for others. So many variables with a slingshot/catapult that a set of sights isn't going to make much difference until you have eliminated all the other variables as much as possible e.g. consistent bands, draw length, range, ammunition, grip, anchor position etc.

    I bough the same product and it will be coming soon. Do you reckon the steel slingshot would be enough to hunt backyard pests like squirrels with 9mm steel ammo and the band that it coms with.

      I found the supplied bands quite powerful. You may be better with some theraband gold bands though if you are using 9mm bearings.

    I got that same exact stainless steel type as yours .. Which sight do you like to use more, the square or the round type ? i cant decide which sight to use.

    • @ECEtek
      @ECEtek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use the sights as I tried them but don't like them. I prefer guesstimation! If you are consistent with your setup (brands/taper/ammo/range) then they are probably really useful but I'm still playing with mine to see what I like. If I had to choose I'd go for the circular ones as they hide less of the target. Thanks for your interest.

    • @harisyoung4110
      @harisyoung4110 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ECEtek i like the square one because its a bit bigger/clearer to see target.. yes i also find out that with different rubber setup the accuracy become different, so i need to get used with it everytime i changed to other rubber setup, the aiming point will never be the same, sometime with my certain type of rubber, i can't even hit a target.. i like precise red 0.70 to shoot a 8mm bullet.

    • @ECEtek
      @ECEtek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harisyoung4110 I seem to get the most consistent results with 0.7 bands and 8mm ball bearings too.

      Agreed, but it was only my second TH-cam video and done entirely on my mobile phone. Not an excuse for poor production values I agree, but you have to work with what you have. From the comments it would seem the info I was trying to get across was clear enough, so the video served its purpose!
