The Russian president made this link despite repeated claims by the so-called Islamic State that they were behind the attack.

It doesn't really contradict the account really. They were caught in Bryansk oblast on the highway to Ukraine, but at the time they were closer to the Belarussian border.
More likely is that ISIS has contacts in both Russia and Ukraine, due to their operations in Turkey and the Caucuses. The plan was for them to escape through Ukraine through their local contacts, nothing to do with the government.

The AKs spray painted yellow taken by police are AK107s. Only produced in Russia for the Russian Army.
The police station can be seen on Google maps on the same road as the theater.
It took police took 77 minutes to arrive because that's what is shown and said on Russian telegram as the event is unfolding and it's also shown on live streams with the fire brigade waiting outside for the police to arrive. All they could use was a helicopter to fight the flames.

Authorities claim they captured the white car they used that was sighted near at the scene. That stinks of a state sponsored inside job. If you compare the civilian deaths in Ukraine (10,000 in 2 years) against the civilian deaths in Israel (35,000 in 6 months) We can see the effectiveness of the Russian armed forces in minimizing civilian casualties. Civilian casualties are less than 2% of all casualties in Ukraine. But they are a majority in Gaza. Gaza deals with death and destruction everyday. Ukraine, not so much.
10,000 civilian deaths is actually 13 deaths per day. Which, is NOT "1,000 times greater than this on a daily basis", in fact it would take at least 14 days- two weeks to have this many civilian deaths in Ukraine. So, 1/14 = 7% as deadly than this attack.

It doesn't feel right to compare deaths of innocent people in numbers or trying to prove who's killer has more "mercy" when committing a crime. Russia is not trying to minimise casualties. Ukraine is lucky to have the anti-missile system to ateast try and protect their cities.
Of course this is an absurd lie but it's not so different from blaming Saddam Hussein after 9-11 and going crazy about WMDs. It makes perfect sense to people looking for revenge and willing to believe whatever their leaders say.

It’s hard to tell if our perspective on how this affects Putin within Russia are correct. It may work to bring him increased support. It may be a false flag, but either way, innocent people died and my heart goes out to those families. I am sure the Ukrainians understand how that feels.
