I think what REALLY got him to scream, since he probably would have as soon as the arm was cut rather than delaying it, was realizing he can't use his quirk anymore. He wanted to use it to repair the yakuza boss who had taken him in, but now he can't do that even if he DOES get to see him again. I think that was the importance of the flashbacks during that scene where he was younger and beside the boss. Also I thought it was an amazing thing to animate the light going out of his eyes when he died instead of relying on the heart monitor to make that shrill beep that typically gets used to let you know someone died. That was a wonderful touch.
I hope My Hero Acedamia ends with the old guy from ep 1 with star ears falling off a building and deku catching him, and the old guy would be like 👴🏻 you look familiar, do I know you?
The reason Overhaul was yelling btw was not because of the pain but he was the one that put his pops into a coma and now without his quirk he can't get him back to normal.
