I sure did enjoy this video. Never a disappointment with your channel or Marc’s. I’m in the states so don’t have any easy (in person) access to German military surplus. But I appreciate being able to watch you enjoy using yours. To me, there’s something satisfying about camping under canvas. I actually prefer it over synthetic materials. Yes it’s heavy. And yes it’s typically worn if sourced as military surplus. But in my mind, that canvas has done it’s job keeping at least soldier alive. And now, thirty, forty, fifty years later it’s still standing the test of time keeping me warm and dry and content in a woodland camp. Just doesn’t get any better than that.
Thanks for that. I collect European kit of all sorts, its so cheap and still works well. I think the Dutch tent is my favourite bit of surplus canvas. 👍
I didn’t know that I collected foreign military tents until I ended up with a Dutch Army tent, French F-1 with rain fly and a Belgian M-56…. and I had to come up with some legitimate sounding excuse for having all three. So yes. I now “collect” them.🤣 And I also would rate the Dutch Army tent as my favorite.
Great camp, Alan! I do have to say that Marc's set up looked like an infant's playpen....and when I thought about that more, I really started to giggle! I cannot wait to see what he thought of it! Thanks for allowing us to tag along on another adventure! The German gear is always cool to see. I just do not see it here in America. I am looking forward to some great winter camps from all of you this year! Would love to see a Christmas episode with all the friends together again, it has become a tradition!
Another great camp, brother, and a shame you couldn't get the stag footage, maybe next time .God bless you and your family, and happy camping 🏕 😀 😊 🙏. Lee
This time of year your going to get the weather coming in and deciding things . That was good knowledge about where being able to plck up dry wood because warmth and hot drinks and food go along way with the weather now we have .
Very enjoyable Alan, I too have that tent, but I’ve never tried the machine gun nest style, so I’ll have a go at that some point. When I first saw Marc’s bed set up, I thought, what on earth does Marc want a fish tank at camp for, lol, then I realised and you explained what it was…😅 all best wishes Sargent……..Brian
🙏🙏👍👍💎💎Excellent , seeing the way that the German pup tent was set up , made me think have you thought of making infill panels that could button in and return to the floor with a small skirt ? ATB Wayne
Hi Alan. Good wee camp and video👍 Quick question if i may.... I have now bought 2 British army dpm mvp rain jackets, thinking i may just have got a bad one, i bought another, and both are terrible in the rain despite proofing them with nikwax. Are the flecktarn ones any better? Cheers. All the best.
Nice outing…that canvas tent seems a bit much if you aren’t gonna use it with a fire in the front. For the fireproof properties it’s worth that extra size and weight. Have fun stay safe.

Splendid Alan. Stag do haha.

Hi Alan. Take it easy with all that kit. Sounds a bit moist under foot.😉
It was a bit tricky getting to camp.
@@jim-bob-outdoors I’ll bet it was.
Good afternoon Alan 😊

It gives you quite a bit of space for a small tent.

You could, but I would like to keep it original if possible. The is a few setup you can do with it in standard form. Regards Allan.
There is a UK military version of Marks tent/net. Pretty good too 👍🏾
I still have 6 or so of those shelter halfs but I need to find and Order New poles 👍👍

All I will say that my Mil-tec one (its not German army) has never leaked in the 4 years or so I have had it. Never treated it, not even washed it. 😂
@jim-bob-outdoors thanks for the info👍
Nice one chap. I think thats the first time I've seen a tent bag that. Is bigger than necessary 🎉

I did move the firepit to the front last thing after Marc went to bed. 👍
Still wild camp with my son under my British army basher
Are both half tents of the same size?
Yes as far as I know, never checked. 😁
@@jim-bob-outdoors I ask because I also have them, but one is 1.92 m (75.6 inches) and the other is 1.98 (77.9 inches).
Hi, just wondering why you didnt set it up like a pup tent. With one end open.
Because I wanted more room to store my gear.
@@jim-bob-outdoors ok... but a pup tent holds 2 soldiers with their gear lol.

@@luhman16afaintstar-q3y I am just guessing, but the average German army guy dont have a big chair and some filming gear. 😂
