& all these years later... Lee Pearson is CRUSHING it in the drum world... his solo composition is nearly unmatched... incredible player & amazing role model for hard working drummers. & Mapex... home to another group of crushers: Santa Clara Vanguard!!
Nice tasty linear patterns.I love walnut, never thought about it before until Mapex included it in their Saturns.Bought the walnut snare on the back of the Saturn sound I was getting.
OK, CLEARLY these are great drums. That said, Lee Pearson could make my kitchen pots and pans sound GREAT! Excellent job, excellent drums, and remember, the instrument is never better than the musician! Lee is AMAZING!
@outlaw52493 Looks like Sabian installed some Jingles into his HHX hi hats....but Zildjian had a series called the "Remix" series in the 90's where they had hi hats with pre installed jingles. But the Remix series was shortlived.
i have this kit. one of the only ones in the u.k. it is amazing, better than anything I've played before. my kit has the shorter toms and a longer bass drum for a more modern sound. the kits like 2000 dollars but its well worth it. if you can find one, buy it! :D
Got mine from Scheerers drums in Leeds, Yorkshire. Hit up Chris there and he'll find one for you. The guy is an absolute legend. Mine was like £1300 i think :)
where did you buy yours? i live in liverpool and im buying a birch walnut kit :D just not sure if i should get it shipped in or if there is a better place in the uk to buy ? cheers man
+Lee Pearson Great news that Mapex is able to get more high profile players to endorse their drums. Love your style, love your passion. I was thrilled when I heard you were touring with Spyro Gyra...what a great fit!! I'm an "older" player and played Tama for most of my life. A few years ago I decided to take a chance and try a Saturn kit...the same one you are playing here. I was blown. I think I didn't want to believe Mapex was that good but they are. The walnut is the deal! Punchy and warm tone. The incredible burl finish is just icing on the cake. Outstanding drums.
+XDrummerSteve So glad to hear that!!! Would love to see a picture of your kit... Peace and Blessings!! If I'm ever in your city please let me know.. I'm no longer with Spyro Gyra I'm playing for Chris Botti now.. www.chrisbotti.com... Hope to hang soon!!
in the end i got mine from drumshop.co.uk £1000 for the 6 pieces, plus clams and holders, and brand new evans heads, because it was an ex display bargain !!! :D
Yeah,,, I’m a big fan of Lee’s,, fantastic player BuT Mapex I’m not a fan of-- they’ve produced Toms where the LUgs are way too short- so short that I had to add washers to allow the tension rods to draw the hoop down to raise the pitch of the drum!!!! And I don’t tune my toms ridiculously high by any means--That’s a ridiculous design flaw that even an amateur drum maker would have avoided...... not Mapex though!!
