Its more realistic that Lucas had feelings for different girls (considering his age) but I think ultimately its clear he cared for Peyton the most and was often confused

I love Lucas and Peyton, it was so annoying watching them convince themselves they were in love with other people. Peyton and Lucas have always held a torch for each other and it was like a FINALLY moment when they got back together late season 5/early season 6. The show for me became unwatchable when they left in season 7, cause Peyton and Lucas were the life of the show. I stand by saying this is one of my favourite shows of all time.
People are so obsessed with Brooke and Lucas and I’m 100% sure it’s because they were together in real life but how could you ship a couple where Lucas literally risked his life, ignoring Brooke to go save Peyton? Lol

The only problem I have with Lucas And Peyton is that how they were playing with others emotions in the crossfire namely Nathan, Brooke, Jake, And Lindsey yeah
Nathan wasn't a part of that, but I can see why he was included, he may have been the reason Lucas noticed Peyton, and Peyton noticed Lucas (from her POV, she kinda had to, as I'd imagine that Lucas and Nathan crossed paths before episode one). Add on the incident where Brooke and Nathan slept together, then it was leaked in Season Four, for Haley, Lucas, and Peyton to see, and people were hurt. That said, it's unfortunate that Nathan, Brooke, Jake and Lindsey (Brooke got Julian, Nathan got Haley, but Jake and Lindsey got nothing that I know of (just started season five) were hurt.
The writers often forced drama here because Naley was already the "strong" couple who always stayed together so if Leyton was like them the show would be kind of boring But they often went overboard especially in S5 (Lindsey was unnecessary)
Idk if this is just me but lucas lead peyton by kissing her then proposing to Lindsey and I remember when he said to peyton 'he's not good enough for you' like that is not his place. Also at the airport he was thinking about marrying 2 other girls and chose peyton. When u are marrying someone ur meant to only be thinking of them lol. And it just felt too easy for them to get together in the end. I think peyton had chased lucas for a while and I think lucas should of had to chase peyton for a bit after lindsey and him were over. I think that would have been better. Also lindsey should've had a better ending she was a nice person. Like If u agree
If you look closely at the scene, it was Lindsey who found the ring and who at the same time trapped Lucas. I'm sure he would never have asked her to marry him that night anyway. In addition Lindsay knew very well that Lucas would always be in love with Peyton.
Peyton is my favorite I relate to her the most out of the characters (the edgy style, artistic, music, surrounded by death, fear of feeling alone but also has guarded walls where it's hard to be vulnerable). and I've been team Leyton since the Pilot, and throughout the whole show. Even when they weren't dating there's been hints throughout that they were destined as endgame. Yes, they did love others (Brooke, Jake, Lindsey, and Julian). I'll never deny that, but it's not compared to the connection and love that Leyton has for each other. It's definitely flawed, messy, and angsty, but that's what I love about it. Lucas had abandonment issues due to having Dan as a father of feeling unwanted and rejected (I wish the show delved more into that with his story). Peyton is his weakness, who he has always truly loved and wanted since the 8th grade but was scared of getting hurt by her. The first time he got hurt by Peyton, he got involved with Brooke because, like he mentioned, she was less complicated and safe. The 2nd time he got hurt is later when he proposes to her in L.A. at 19/20, and she told him she wasn't ready for marriage because of where their lives were at with their careers. She told him someday but not now, and he took that as her saying no to him and then left. Flash forwards a couple of years. Peyton comes back to Tree Hill and is with Lindsay. It's obvious the moment he saw her, he was terrified where he couldn't even hug her cause of how hurt he still was and afraid of her being back. You can see the difference between him seeing Peyton again for the 1st time with how he was with Brooke when he saw her again. He had no problems being close with Brooke being friends and hugging, but Peyton was a whole different level. He kept trying to bury his feelings for Peyton and lying to himself while being with Lindsay. Everyone could see it that it was Peyton, who he really loved he just couldn't admit it to himself due to out of fear of getting hurt again. So for him, yes, he did love Brooke in high school and Lindsay in his adult life, but he was settling for them because it would have been easier for him. Where Peyton was the real deal. Same thing with Jake in high-school yes she loved him, but she was settling for him as well. For 1.) It was easier. 2.) Jake and his daughter Jenny was her way of filling in the void of having her own little family, especially after losing another mom and her dad being gone a lot due to his job. Then Julian, in her adult life in L.A., was a rebound love after her and Lucas broke up after the 1st proposal. When it comes to them two, you have to read in-between lines of their personalities, their body language, facials, and how they talk to each other.
This is a series called One Tree Hill. All of the seasons are on Hulu! I definitely recommend you go start watching it...right now! You'll be hooked instantly. Lol

Lucas was never IN love with Lindsey or even Brooke. He definitely loved them but he wasn’t IN love with them like he was with Peyton 🤷🏽♀️
