Replaced battery, changed fan, added paste (thanks to this vid) and had the 500Gb alteady in my 2012 air...wonderful machine! Ill use it till the new M macs with ARM advance a little more. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Hahah I don't use mine very often, because I do have another Mac issued from the office. But when I do, it works totally fine for day-to-day stuff. Won't be upgrading my personal Macs till the next iteration of the M1 chips too
Hi, nice video, I would like some advice, do you think this MacBook Air is still usable today with Lightroom and Photoshop? I use an old MacBook Pro Mid 2010 with 2.4 ghz 2 Duo and 8GB of Ram, is it better to make the switch?
I don't think it is very usable for heavy work. Considering you're using a 12-year old machine, I think maybe you could consider an upgrade to a refurbished M1 macbook? Refurbished gives a decent discount over pretty good hardware. (My current 2020 M1 Macbook Air is a refurbished unit)
actually the multicore was a 22% improvement and single core was a 41% improvement. I would have liked the video much more if you would have more closely showed the screw removal for the heat sync.
Thanks for the feedback! Still hard to pay attention and remember to adjust the cameras while filming close ups when working on PC builds and laptops lol 😅
Guys, help please! I have a macbook air 2012 mid and already replaced the thermal past, but using less then 50% of the cpu it gets around 90~100º! D; Any ideias of what I could do?
Actually honestly, I would recommend upgrading. At this point that machine is about 12 years old. If you're on a budget, maybe you could look into a refurbished M1 MacBook Air?

Listen My 2012 mac Flikering
i replaced my battery, cleaned every single thing out, doused the fan in alcohol, and redid thermal paste and my late 2014 air is back to beast mode
Nice!!
I have the same laptop and I have been happily running Linux Mint 20 on it.
Nice! 8 years and going strong :D

Some videos disconnects the battery. Is it necessary?
It's safer to do so! I did as well :)
Were the screws on the bottom plate P5 Pentalobe, and the screws inside on the cooling system T5 Torx?
Yes, that's right
@@kalestarler Ok thanks for the reply! Btw, did u notice any improvement to battery life once u changed the thermal paste?
Not really. But likely because the battery is also pretty old 😅
What programm is this that shows the temperature of the cpu?
It's the Fanny widget: fannywidget.com/
