Basically, Japan is from a different planet. There is a wealth of rock/metal bands that can play at this level of musicianship and perform their songs live. DragonForce, meets Iron Maiden. Lovebites, toured in the Uk in 2019, with DragonForce, I believe.

Great! You've discovered another Japan's gems. This band is awesome, their live performances are fire and the ladies can really shred. They've been around from 2016, but the members came from another bands. Their music is heavily influenced by the NWOBHM and they play Heavy/Speed/Power Metal with some Thrashy riffs sometimes.
Check out these popular songs from them:
    -Shadowmaker:

    -When Destinies Align:

You're digging into the hole of japanese all female rock/metal bands. First BAND-MAID, now LOVEBITES and there's more.
    Cheers!!

LOVEBITES is mostly quite complex original compositions with ongoing, often unique, transitions, stops, breaks, breakdowns; key modulations, tempo and count changes, all within song contexts, driven by a flawless veteran drum/bass duo Haruna & Miho, interwoven with the textures, solos and duets of phenomenal guitarists Midori and Miyako, occasionally 'spiced' with Miyako's piano expertise; fulfilling their "Crusade" with Asami's powerfully soaring English-language lyrics of facing-truth, self-empowerment and uplifting-encouragement.
Thanks for promoting LOVEBITES, Alex N!

I first listened to Lovebites about 3 or 4 months ago and haven't stopped listening since. These ladies are the real deal. Great musicians. Great lyricists. Great songwriters. They are even better when you see their live shows on youtube. I admit the short dresses got me to click on a song. The great music kept me listening.

This is a relative new band formed in 2016. Like Band-Maids, they have one distinct feature that is white, nice dress and high heels when performing live. They believe they are too petite on stage and that will make them pop out to the audience. :)

Band Maid are mostly dressed like... maids, very popular in Japan, and it seems these outfits are appealing more than the music to some people on TH-cam. Anyway Lovebites is way above Band Maid.

Yes, Japan, and there are many more all-girl metal, rock and punk bands to check out. Meanwhile, I've been suggesting a different one from Lovebites, so I'll try again: When Destinies Align, here is the link: th-cam.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/w-d-xo.html It's more recent, and the dueling guitar solos are even more insane.

Lovebites are more exciting live than their studio recordings. You should check out two of their live performances, the first at Wakken in 2018 and the second at Summer Sonic in Tokyo in 2019.
    @
    @
You should also check out Asterism a Japanese three piece band featuring a seventeen year old female guitarist and a 17 years old bassist. The guitarist called is Hal-Ca and she’s a force of nature and a brilliant guitarist. Miyu the bassist is no mean player either. Check out the following:
    "Light in the Darkness” (Live)
    @
    “Blaze" (Live)
    @
Also a 35 minute live set recorded in 2019 in a Hard Rock cafe in Osaka.
    @
Here are some suggestions with links to I’ve performances but Japanese bands, mostly all female.
    D_Drive ‘Mr Rat Boots’ (Live)
    @
    Mary’s Blood ‘Marionette’ Live
    @
    Doll$Boxx ‘Take My Chance’ (Live)
    @
    Gacharic Spin ‘More Power’ (Live)
    @
    Metallic Spin ‘Spotlight Kid’ (Live)
    @
(Doll$Boxx, Gacharic Spin and Metallic Spin are three difference iterations of the same band. They are great fun and their live shows are worth watching in full)
Aldious ‘Reincarnation’ (Live) Short acoustic opening.

Yep, they put something in the water, but seem only affect japanese girls because a drink a lot of water in Japan and still can´t play a guitar 😂
Oh well, maybe is because learning to play an instrument is mandatory in school curriculum. Little childs starts with a pianica or a recorder and in secondary school change to drums, guitar and other instruments (violin, piano... anything you can imagine) so a lot of japanese learn to play and of course in millions of people learning some must be prodigious
Lovebyte´s songs are almost all like that. Full force starts, Haruna on the drums playing like a metronome behind her huge drum set despise her small size. Long and incredible guitar solos fast and furious. They have 3 cd in the market now and a cd live and guess who are the producers and sound engineers... Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila. The same people who works with Nightwish, Stratovarius and others.
They play power metal, no compromises. Fast and hard. They tour sometimes with Dragonforce and those girls can play at the same level
There´s a lot more japanese bands who deserving a reaction, as an example one of the oldest still active metal bands (all female) in Japan: Aldious. Just check something like this
    th-cam.com/video/tgH8-npq86Y/w-d-xo.html
And of course, some day you must hear the "root of japanese metal": X-Japan
A legendary band from the 80 (still active) with a composer, drummer and maybe one of the most talented musicians in Japan in the XX century: Yoshiki. Something like this...
    th-cam.com/video/4-zXzhfP2YM/w-d-xo.html
And ... well, there´s a huge amount of really great bands in Japan, the real problem maybe is the record labels in Japan who have a really big internal market and are´t really interested in shell overseas
Oh, i also gonna suggest you a complete different genre: Punk-Rock. Japan have one of the oldest punk-rock bands still active in the world: Shonen Knife. The favorite band of Kurt Cobain and a really fun band to react. The singer Naoko is near 60 years old and she are still rocking on stages around the world. Really popular in some circles. Check something like this

Lovebites is one of my favorite bands. They themselves write, compose, arrange, and perform. Their playing skills are amazingly high!
The only weakness is that Asami's English pronunciation is unique. This is often pointed out by foreigners in the English-speaking world.
Personally, I love Haruna, who has a cute smile and hits the drums hard!

    • @Glynthepin
      @Glynthepin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Its amazing how well she does sing in English in my view. The Japanese language is structured so differently from English. It is difficult to find an western band of woman for a comparison. There is the Iron Maidens, so imagine them singing their entire repertoire in Japanese.

    • @aad83810
      @aad83810 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Glynthepin I think so. Unfortunately, English pronunciation is the highest barrier for Japanese bands to succeed internationally. Or, like Babymetal, there is a way to use Japanese only from the beginning...

@@scottpollack1007 I wrote nothing about "BANDMAID!" Nor do I compare them with LOVEBITES. Select "SORT BY" "Newest first" comments and mine will be right above yours. Music can be critiqued from a perspective of musical terminologies (not opinion), as I do in my referenced comment. I am just refuting your critique "very simplistic with ongoing, monotonous repetition of riffs" which is simply not accurate from an analytical music perspective. BANDMAID's music is irrelevant to this. I like BANDMAID's music too, and you will not find a derogatory comment by me about BANDMAID's music. LOVEBITES is not a "Rock and Roll band" so, no comparison is appropriate in that respect. I am not faulting your "opinion" that you prefer BANDMAID, only that LOVEBITES is not "very simplistic with ongoing, monotonous repetition of riffs" which is not "opinion" but is an inaccurate critique of musical qualities. btw, I 'thumbs up' your "due diligence" comment.
