Working on my 1983 242 and see that my driver's side door metal has cracks as seen at about 7 minutes into this video. None on the passenger side but that door gets very little use in comparison and it is my theory that with my speakers attached only to the door card the action of it moving when the door is slammed closed repeatedly causes or at least contributes to this. Can I inquire if you ever "fixed" yours and how you went about it? Thanks for all!
You can put a 300W amp to them. 🙂 At least it will never clip. So that's a thing. So David, as NUKE, How would you NUKE this Audio install? How would you set up a system you would really like to get the best audio quality?
Do you know what diameter/type of hose you used between the speaker and the door? I'm currently in the process of doing this and swapping over to electric windows.
Did you by chance save the spacer ring/mounting bracket deal from the stock speaker? I've got a broken one I would like to replace. I'll buy off of you if you still have them.
DGuitar22 no they went into the door panels only. I recommend the door metal itself because it holds the speaker better over time, as mine started to pull out. but it increases door panel removal time in the future. small price to pay for doing it right.
Aw! those new speakers are ugly! Why not find modern speakers in exactly the same size as the originals. Speakers have come a long way and small modern speakers can sound pretty good imho

Why is the speaker in such a weird spot? Couldnt they have like spaced it away from the door handle and the top part of the door panel?

Do all four match up or do just a couple of them line up? I think i read somewhere that guy who installed 6.5s could only get 3 to line up
