(at 18:59) is probably a reference
to the fact that Brad Bird along
with Jerry Rees and Gary Kurtz
(who produced *"STAR WARS"*
and *"The Empire Strikes Back")* were planning to do an animated film for
the adult audience based on *"The Spirit"* back in the 1980s, but while studio executives praised the script,
it was thought to be unmarketable and was sadly scrapped.
So instead of Brad Bird's *"The Spirit",* we got Frank Miller's more infamous live-action film version of Will Eisner's *"The Spirit".*
Yup yup. Hence why I highlighted that scene
Nice to see a new Pages to Pictures from you. I only have little to no knowledge of the book but I grew up with the movie and it's one of my all-time favorites along with my mother.

While the iron man book by Ted Hughes had an interesting and entertaining story, I just think that the iron giant movie was more iconic and enjoyable overall. I personally think that the iron giant movie was better. I also personally like how the iron giant was inspired by Superman in particular to be a hero.
The book was a cute simple story, the movie was pure Hollywood.

I gotta say, its been a while you haven done From Pages to Pictures, so welcome back here.
I never seen a movie yet, but i find the movie itself is pretty fascinating and probably impressive for the animation, the message from the plot and of course, the chemistry between Hogarth and The Iron Giant itself for exploring human world, which il give a credit what Brad did for extra elements like the Giant's origin, antiwar message with the nuke and some other elements. Again, i never seen it, but maybe il watch it to give it a shot and my thoughts on it. But yes, im aware that some elements brought up based on Brad's personal problems for what he heard and struggling himself as a father.
As for the book, i find the book just came off as too simplistic and average, robot comes out from mystery, have a chemistry with a boy while eating metals out of junkyard while the people in a town shrugged off. But the climax with the Giant facing against space monster is questionable and kinda didn't make any sense for where did that monster came from. Like where did a space dragon came from, Planet X??
And yeah, i have to agree the movie wins for outstanding animation, nice and heartwarming plot, nice messages, a fun chemistry between two main characters and somewhat relatable from this movie. Though its too bad the movie flopped from the box office what Brad was hoping for before reuniting Disney to bring us my favorite, The Incredibles. But to be fair, despite the flop, it still beloved from critics and viewers that its no stranger that its an underrated classic.

But yeah, I now have a job. So that's been taking my time. And I don't do movie reviews anymore, don't have budget nor motivation to do them. But other then that, life's good. Or in the live action movie of iron giant, they can give Hogarth a sister, so I think it’s because in the live action movie he had a sibling so him and his sister make friends with a giant robot if they want to

The comparison between the book and the film is a interesting contrast especially with what the film kept and discarded.
While I love he film the book Dose have some things that I liked a bit better.
I actually wouldn't mind another adaptation that uses some more elements from the book.
Like the whole town knowing and trying tu capture the giant I feel could be interesting tu see expanded on and the space dragon I actually like and could see a couple ways of adapting it with the whole senseless violence and not having to be a weapon theme.
A good return and hopefully more episodes.

If the movie gets a remake, and it becomes a live action movie, they should keep the villain being a space dragon also in the book since he has a Dad, they should keep him in the live action movie with the kid mom and they can I have the Director be Tim Burton
