    What would YOU do on the river with Q♥ J♦?
    Your Stack (CO): 173,000
    Their Stack (BB): 163,000
    Pot: 223,000
    Board: T♦ 8♥ 3♠ 5♣ 2♠
    BB bets 100,000
    A) Fold
    B) Call
    C) Raise 173,000 (all-in)

      Leaving $63K behind is a good sign the guy is bluffing, i.e. he wants something left behind if you call his bluff. This is a total "time to gamble" situation. Just think, the guy could have A-3 or similar. Q-J is pretty weak. Almost like calling with J-4 off. This is like, if you're tilted you fold, if you're running well you call.

      ngl, Im folding there.
      I have made some pretty terrible hero calls where I won the hand. But that was just because I could sense they were full of it. And I had at least a pair.
      And one hand I lost with king high. I was right, he didnt have it, but he still had me beat. So now I will no longer hero call with anything less than ace high.
      But this hand, thats one sick ass hero call.
      Big 🏀🏀

      C. I think Tristan made an error here because there are at least 9 combos of hands (opponent can also hold QJ) that he is at least chopping with, and some trash pairs villain will have in this line that you do not beat. You have to pile it because you only lose another 60k if villain holds the nuts but you lose a massive pot if you fail to shove and he turns over 22 and says 'good call.' We all want to table the queen high or ten high and look cool, whereas we don't get to look cool if he bet-folds, and we also feel dumb shoving into the nuts, which is going to happen a lot, but mathematically, the correct play is to rebluff. If the opponent is anywhere close to balanced, or over-bluffing. If he's not balanced then you can just fold.

      @@YTSparty ur right
      I honestly think 45k gets it done
      The 100 is way awkward in this spot. What hands can he go that large with that also isn’t all in?
      45k looks like 8 to me looking for thin value

    What a great call and hand breakdown! Reminds me of the time I was in a very similar spot at my local 2/5 game where I called the villain's river jam with queen high and he turned over quad tens.

    This is a good example of reading an opponent's range almost exactly, and capitalizing by the narrowest of margins. Very scientific !!!
    Jonathan, could you do a tutorial on what is meant by "Equity" in poker?

    This is problem with gto. Leveling then exploiting. Poker usually comes down to gut and analysis. Or even better, what the heck, I can call when I probably shouldn't then run it up.

    • @PokerCoaching
      @PokerCoaching  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure why that is a problem with GTO.

      @@PokerCoaching well since you asked. Years of experience can't be boiled down to charts. Yes on a high level of play where everyone is a robot it is OK but on the mean streets of low to mid level play where there are a lot of beginners and what I call slot players try to spin it up, it takes more old school play to survive. I do understand what you are selling and that new ideas have to evolve, gto will be replaced by the next thing like 3x was replaced.

    QJ is a very poor bluffcatcher since it has 2 blockers to bluffs. I'd say herocall only if you have a good read, otherwise fold.
    Shoving is a big punt imo. He should be completely polar (T or better, or air), so if he has value he'll call and if he has a bluff you have the best hand anyways.

    • @chinggis_khagan
      @chinggis_khagan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but by the same token he's also blocking value (QT, JT) and BB has all the offsuit bluff combos

    This is exactly my point about the Robbi hand!! When you make the killer hero call with Q HIGH and it is good-you get out of your chair and scream!! WHOOOO!! I got u sucka!!!
    But what did Robbi do? Looked like she wanted to crawl under her chair!! That’s how you react when you know your call was ridiculous and everyone’s gonna know u cheated, and you won’t be able to explain what you were thinking because what you actually were thinking was “But I got the signal that my hand was high!!!”

    Not sure you have a “solid” 10 outs. Many hands when your opponent has a ten as you say, he also has a 9 or J taking away an out, and occasionally TQ, and occasionally raises with T8.
