Sal the iron worker Montagna came back to the city with a chip on his shoulder because of his status as acting boss in the Bonano family but it didn’t really help him here. Joe Massino’s brother in law testifying against him said that he realized that the Montreal organization led by Vito Rizzuto at the time had long ago broken away from the Bonanos and were doing their own thing. In reality, they were much more powerful and international. At the time he couldn’t quantify the extent of their power and influence. The NY mobs were nothing but street gangs compared to what was happening in Montreal. Now, there is turbulence and turmoil in the underworld again as these events seem cyclical. Someone will emerge on top.

IT'S normal that news outlets report what other news outlets have reported hence the reason you will hear or read "as reported by BBC" OR "as reported after an investigation by CBS".

well i was going to go for a visit to montreal this summer but looks like things are going to be a little to hot. i have never seen it like this with all these different players at war. this could get far more messy than it already is
There's a 0% chance you have any issue over this. This is organized crime, not street gangs who shoot each other in drive-by attacks and can't shoot the target if their life depended on it. You must not be Canadian..lol The Rizzuto Crime Family had been independent of the Bonanos for decades now and while under Vito were probably the most powerful and successful LCN Organizations in North America.
