    Thanks for stopping by Flag Staff. There are quite a few Pueblos on the north side of IS40 off 89. That area is surrounded by several peaks. It was a holy ground for the ancient Indians. Somehow I felt the same when I was there.

    Thanks for taking me along. I really appreciate it. Stay safe and healthy. Happy adventuring. That Walnut Canyon was beautiful. I bet if you could find a game trail one could get down to the bottom. I wonder how many cliff dwellings a person would find in this area. Thanks for taking the time for stopping and sharing. Have a great and wonderful day of travel.

    When you passed the sign on your way in for the trail head on your right, if you turned left on the well maintained dirt road it’s all dispersed camping for about 3 miles. That’s where we have been for the last week. Beautiful, free, and hardly any one around.

    Went there about 20 years ago . At that time people were allowed to hike down into the canyon and walk around the Native American rock houses , similar to the Gila cliff houses in New Mexico.
    I can imagine them sitting around the evening camp fire and having a conversation with their neighbors across on the other side of the canyon.
    If they would allow it , be a great drone video opportunity .
    Thanks for the video !

    When I was young and in the military we had dealing with a Ranger unit. We were at a place a little like that in the Rockys, no canyon but hills and mountains to the horizon. The Sgts look out and tell the CO they can make ‘that peak’ in 5 hours. He nods and off they go. It was like to the horizon they were going. Over a bunch of ridges and an odd mountain. My hat off to those guys. Dark sky places are sweet. It’s a shame about light pollution. It will get better in time. Took a long time to get this bad and now cities and states know and taking action. I’m a fairly serious amateur astronomer. I have to drive 2 hours to find a dark sky site. Only do if a few times a year. Thanks for the ride. Blue sky’s for sure. Nice. Stay safe.

    The Walnut Canyon Monument is actually down in the canyon. The Indians lived on a peninsula of rock that attaches to the canyon wall with a small walkway. It's a steep but paved hike down to it where you walk in a loop around the peninsula.

    The growth in Flag from 20 years ago is unbelievable. Macy's coffee place is still almost the same except for Wifi and tattoos. The houses on the East and West of Flag are unbelievable. Many million dollar houses. Shultz pass road and Lockett meadow are my two favorite places.

      @tatooyou12 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      William, I went to our local Public Lands Office and they had National Park Rangers helping those who want to purchase Senior Lifetime Passes to all National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands. It’s $80. It was quick and easy, but don’t lose it. They do not keep records of who purchase them so have no way of replacing lost ones. So, if you make it to Fairbanks, I’ll show you right where to go.
