When you next have a trip to Rochester, do pop into Hometown for a mooch. They have a fabulous range of fabric for English paper piecing and quilting. It's my go to and it's a proper treasure trove and the owner, Marion, has so much knowledge and does workshops too 🌻

I have been using Cleanse & Polish by Liz Earle as my cleanser for many years and it has kept my skin healthy through menopause. I use the moisturiser too. Natural ingrediants and no animal testing. Available through their own website but also larger branches of Boots.

Thank you very much, Ali. I have dry eyes too and my optician recommended that I use a moist heat mask for 10 minutes every night and then cleanse my eyelids with tea tree oil wipes. They are both by Optase and the heat mask is for soothing and effective relief of blepharitis, among other things. I hope you find this helpful. x

DHC makes a very nice gentle oil makeup remover that has an olive oil base so it’s not drying. It’s a bit costly but lasts ages. I think they have a small size you can try and/or a money back guarantee. Also, I have a pic of that same red mushroom 🍄 as my screensaver. I took it in Alaska on a hike. It’s so whimsical it doesn’t seem real. Thanks for the vlogs, I look forward to the every day!

Hi and thank you for vlogtober! For makeup removal, I use water and a microfiber cloth called makeup eraser. No chemicals at all! I love it. Oddly, I just travelled to the UK for a vacation and brought Olay dry clothes that become activated with water. They were great. I wouldn’t make a habit of the. Though, because they are disposable. I have the same issue with the skin around my eyes. I recommend trying the microfiber and seeing that you think. I use a gentle LaRoche Posay facial cleanser after I remove the makeup.

Ooooh you need to try jackets in the air fryer. Prick jackets, micro for 12 mins in microwave, then 13 mins on 200C in air fryer. You can eat while skins crunchy but I like to wrap them in foil and a tea towel for about 20 mins while I cook the rest of dinner and they’re delicious. I usually make 2 or 3 jackets depending on who’s appeared at the doorstep to join us (that would be middle son from Bristol 🤣)

When I had blepharitis the optician explained it as the hair follicles being bunged up with a hard grease, so instead of flowing freely and lubricating the eyelids they got dryer and your natural parasites( we are all covered in them) get a bit enthusiastic. His recommended treatment was to sit with my head back with a flax stuffed eye mask that had been heated in the microwave for 10 minutes twice a day, followed by careful cleansing of the eye area with special wipes. The heat softened the waxy secretion and the wipes helped to remove excess. Seemed to work, but the act of sitting at work lunchtime with my head back and a hot eye mask was gloriously relaxing. Maybe go to your optician to get their opinion. Jan

I use coconut oil to remove my makeup. I don't use anything fancy just what you can buy at the grocery store. Then I use makeup remover clothes, I got some from Aldi and additional ones on Amazon. I use the hottest water I can handle to wipe off the oil. It is so much less expensive than makeup remover and my skin has never looked better!

Hello Ali, so excited you are vlogging. I always watch but don't always comment as I know it is another 'job' for you to acknowledge! You are so good at that. Just wanted to say I suffered with blepharitis after I had my children (30 years ago!) I was referred to Moorfields as my eyes were so itchy and flaky. No make up for a number of months, I had cream but unfortunately cannot remember what. Like you a year or so ago I started using micellar makeup remover and noticed itchy eyelids. I now use Boots own cucumber cleanser and have no issues. Hope it clears soon, I remember how uncomfortable it is. Hope Dan is feeling better soon. Nice seeing his happy smile. Glad Lilia is settling at Uni. Best wishes. 😊

I second kiko sabi for quilting…she does beautiful videos that are relaxing to watch…for cleanser, i recommend cleansing oils instead of things like micellar as its hydrating and removes everything (including sunscreen!). I also double cleanse (i started following a Korean skincare routine), and i have found my skin has settled down and cleared up. But as usual, do a test first cos it all depends on your skin.
I also suffer from dry eyes and my optometrist said it was mainly from not sleeping with my eyes closed completely. Some days its worse than others, particularly in winter. I tend to just use a saline eye drop in the morning and its usually fine for the rest of the day (and this is from a heavy contact/glasses wearer).

Congrats on the new opd car🎉🎉🎉🎉 its always a great feeling! Just wanted to mention seeing as we're on a mushroom topic....... all your years of vlog clips of mushrooms have given me a 🍄 crazy love 😂😂😂😂 We dont get nearly so many varieties of them growing about, so I've settled for buying mushroom stickers to use in journaling every chance i get! Dont think they'll be used up in my lifetime 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I've been following you for so many years but don't really ever comment. Sorry about that. I probably should tell you that I am a huge fan of yours and watch you from Texas, United States 😊
Just wanted to finally leave a comment and tell you how much I love your videos and your sweet family. Also used to love your fringe, you look lovely no matter what, but the fringe feels like it was your thing 😂 Have a wonderful night xoxo

Blepharitis - my father’s optician recommends baby shampoo. Particularly on eyelashes as they trap debris.

Love that toadstool. Re your eyes- was blepheritus the word you were looking for? If so I have had it for so long I can't exactly remember, 15 or 20 years. I am in my early 70's. It's very annoying even though I am doing what my eye doctor suggested.

I've never heard of a Pomodoro timer and now am down that rabbit hole. First step: place a hold on "The Pomodoro Technique" by Francesco Cirillo (what a great name to say aloud, lol) I love how TH-cam lets me see people from all over the world. It is through seeing how others live that we gain understanding and tolerance of everyone. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Ali. Loving your vlogtober vids as per. Regarding your eyes. As someone else has mentioned Liz earle skin products especially her "eyebright" are great. Also available from QVC shopping channel and often on offer. I used it after discovering why my eyes suddenly became sore, dry and even peeling. It took a while to diagnose, turned out it was caused by fumes created from mixing hair dye. ( I am a hairstylist). I had to stop dying hair after years of specialising in colour and colour correction. Also when my son was younger he had blepharitis along his eyelash line. The eyebright used twice a day on a cotton pad as a cooling eye pad cleared it in no time. (better than the prescribed cream). Eyebright is a plant used in that cool, liquid product.... Also, I know you started using a lanolin cream a couple of weeks ago too. Lanolin, although a natural oil from sheep's wool and product used for skin moisturisers , is also a fairly common allergen / irritant causing sore , dry & sometimes burnie feeling skin. I can't use anything lanolin. Hoping you get it sorted so you feel comfortable from sore eyes soon. Looking forward to the rest of your October vlogs. 👁👁🤗X

Also I was told by the doctors to wash my eyes with baby shampoo or baby wash as it is very gentle. This is now all I use and it really does work x

You could Zoom with Suzanne from Green Lambkin--she has done a hexagon EPP Halloween quilt top and is working on a Christmas one. Sins you have finally met, she'd probably love to help you. I learned by watching Jules o Sew Sweet Violet.

Hi Ali I had similar issues with eyes eventually diagnosed with Atopic dermatitis. Prescribed creams which help. I now only use water and the Simple face wash as they said don't use soap.
I still can't pinpoint what sets it off and still get flair ups . At its worst I looked like I'd been in a fight with Mike tyson 😆

CeraVe is a good gentle face cleanser that a lot of dermatologists recommend here. They also have a whole line of moisturizers, sunblocks etc…. I was just in the Uk (Faversham) and I did see that Boots in Canterbury has it. Good luck and I am loving vlogtober! It’s my little bit of home here in Massachusetts 😍
