That was hilarious for sure, and really makes me wonder what Glico is thinking with Men's Pocky. Naturally, that's not the only example of gender branded food I can think of yet is certainly a prominent one.

So this was super interesting and informative and I think as a format it worked really well for you. I feel like for any youtuber the general rule should be: Is it interesting for you? If so, the passion will find its audience.
Sidenote: Had no idea convenient stores were so gender-oriented in their customer base. This was particularly fascinating and seemingly culturally unique to Japan (maybe not, idk)?

Fun fact, the company I work for created a system for convenience stores that links past weather conditions to past sales on the PoS system, to develop a correlation between what products sell good in different weather; they then use that correlation to strategically stock up on certain items based on the weather forecast. We serve 100% of the convenience store market in Japan for weather services.

Great and fun video! It was interesting to learn about how convenience stores are actually well...convenient in Japan haha. I live in Texas so hearing about 7-11 being started here was the first I've heard of it (not a native Texan). I swear they try so much harder outside of the States than in it at this point. I never go to 7-11 unless I'm desperate and at a pit stop on a road trip lol.

All the info you had compiled was great! It’d be nice to see it interspersed more with your own footage of inside the store! For instance you mention seasonal products but don’t show any or give examples. You also could walk through some of your favorite goods and where they are in the store/how you first tried them/etc! Yay!

I don't know if you watched the [Begin Japanology] Season 6 EP29 : Convenience Stores video but it goes more in depth on how 7/11 got started (and tricked by Americans) by a few Japanese. 7/11 in America had a 100 volume manual and the Japanese thought it would be full of genius ideas but it was translated and they realized it was garbage so they worked really hard to make it work in Japan.

This was a lovely video, so interesting and relaxing! A couple of years ago I read a book called Convenience Store Woman, which was about a Japanese woman who worked at a convenience store, defying cultural expectations that she study or have a more ambitious job or get married. It was very interesting - and it's a short book so I'd definitely recommend people read it

This is a bit of a departure for you Mikan. I'd personally love to see more documentary style content about Japan's recent (maybe even not-so-recent) history from you, if you're up for it :3 The presentation and the way you featured vintage clips very much reminded me of the channel The Company Man.
