Not sure this would be my go to for a fender knot ..... think the benefit of these types of knot is that rope begins by going over the rail this allows you to easily adjust the height/length of the fender/hanging weight and then add the (slipped) locking part of the knot. Might help sell it if you also made the slip loop extra long and half hitched it around the standing end for extra security ..... but then the knot name might take longer than actually tying it .... Slipped clove hitch on a bight with a half hitched locked loop?

As always thanks for your engagement on our pots. Your points are valid, this series is based of feedback I have been getting from earlier fender not videos. The twist on the clove hitch was the 3rd most popular after the clove hitch and the round turn with two half hitches. I think it is more popular with crew that are short handed where the ease of untying outweighs the disadvantages of this one.
I will have to use small font in the title picture if I end up producing the "Slipped clove hitch on a bight with a half hitched locked loop :)

You need to take care to tighten the hitch carefully as the bight does reduce the locking power of the hitch. Once done the weight of the fender should keep it in place. With that said there are other options that would be more secure. We recommend these for shorter stays in the marina.
For longer stays it is hard to beat the round turn with two half hitches.
