    New test for 2022 The G5 deadmeat crossbow 3 blade 100gr 1 1/2in cut, Grim reaper X-bow rt 3 blade 100gr 1 1/2in cut, Rage hypodermic crossbow 2 blade 100gr 2in cut and Muzzy Trocar HBX Crossbow 4 blade hybrid 1 5/8in cut. Those are some of the ones that say they're good for 400 fps+. All of these brands have a good reputation and I'd be interested to see a head to head test.

    Definitely need more fixed blades in the line up. Penetration is king, and the only fixed blade in the line up dominated. Deflection on quartering shots is a close second, which the fixed blade also dominated in.

    • @KTPGNS1
      @KTPGNS1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But yet it finished 3rd. Penetration is key. That's why I shoot the Sevr. Regardless of the distance, I know I'm gonna get a full pass thru, exactly where I had my reticle. Unless you're practicing with your hunting broadhead, like you do with the Sevr, you just don't know

      How far can you shoot a good group with field points? There is a few good Sevr videos of guys shooting vertical bows shooting out over 100 yards. They are the most accurate I've ever shot by far, except maybe the Thorn, but being able to practice with the same head you use to hunt is gonna make a world of difference when it comes to putting the shot where you want it

    I shot a doe last fall with the sevr robusto out of my crossbow. The broadhead opened in flight and all I found was a pile of deer hair. I also shot a buck with a different robusto but out of my 75lb compound bow. The hit was perfect, deer was broadside, but the arrow deflected and came out guts. Blood trail was excellent, recovered the deer the next morning. Both broadheads are unusable because of bent and chipped blades.

    • @HuntStand
      @HuntStand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don, sorry to hear your disappointment about those heads not being included. While there are dozens of heads out there, we did our best to choose a solid lineup that we felt were worthy contenders. We'll try to include a model from Grim Reaper next year. As far as G5, typically we only test one head from each brand, and as you saw G5 was included in this round. This is our first go at this particular field test, and we're already looking forward to next year. Thanks for the feedback!

    • @HuntStand
      @HuntStand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As with all of our field tests we must weigh keeping them streamlined/manageable vs. a wide selection; know that our selection of test heads will rotate somewhat year over year, and so your votes to include a few new models are appreciated. Thanks for watching!

      @@michaelb2076 , I understand your frustration and can see you have an appreciation for skill. Should we still be using only longbows then though? I agree, mostly anyone can pick up a crossbow and shoot it, but that's about where the easy stuff stops imo. You still have to practice good shot placement and put in the training to know how your bolt will act/fly especially between fixed and mechanical broadheads. A bad shot is a bad shot, and I think it's a little bit of bad practice to throw shade on other hunters for choosing something that may be more suitable for them, or for using a weapon with greater FPE and FPS, or adding scopes to assist in accuracy. at the end of the day, anything people are using legally to increase the efficiency/ethics of killing an animal should be accepted with open arms for the animals sake.
      Some more food for thought, there is a lot more customization needed for a compound bow (draw weight, balancing, draw length, sight picture ect). Shooting someone else's compound bow could spell disaster, for both the animal and the person trying to lean to hunt..
      Quick fun fact while I have ya here, the crossbow has been dated back to around 400 BC. I'm sure you've heard that a thousand times but it's still a very interesting fact in regards to this discussion.
      Regardless, I respect your opinion and hope you have a great season no matter what your weapon of choice is. Shoot straight my friend!
