Help! I have a Drobo storage device that I can no longer access from a Mac with Ventura software computer. I do have a Synology 1019+ for storage. Any help??
What storage pool? A storage pool assumes a NAS, it's begging the question. And a "photographer and video editor" application rarely needs shared access, arguably never. If a team needs it then it's a larger project and what kind of networking is then satisfactory? It's important to understand what needs to be done, not simply imagine a justification.
@NASCompares I have an 8 bay Synology 1821+ with x8 16tb drives (Raid 10) giving me approx 58TB of usable storage and run it to two PCs and one mac via 10GB network/10Gb switch. I want the NAS to sit there with me doing nothing to it except using it for video file storage which I edit from directly and nothing more. I don't need apps or anything else and want to stay out of the NAS software as much as possible and just use as a massive, fast hard disk and editing directly from device that never gets turned off but have plenty of overhead for failing disks so nothing gets lost if a drive or 2 fails. Now I need more storage space and ideally want an even faster connection so Thunderbolt would be great ?? as I have those connections on my Asus Proart Z790 Creator motherboards. What are my options If buying from new again for something bigger (80GB+ storage minimum), even faster transfers and easy to set up and use for a non tech person on at least x2 PCs? :)
I see your point, and I do have a different video for 2024 on that very system coming soon, but it lacks the client tools, iSCSI for video editing tools, no expansion support, no tiered media support, an ARM CPU. It's INCREDIBLE value...but I cannot say it's the device I would recommend to an editor over the ones in this video (or several others)
Why NAS at all? You don't need NAS to eliminate cloud storage. Direct attach is simpler and faster, what is the point of insisting on ethernet (or worse yet, WiFi) being the connection? Direst attach storage for a workstation is the answer, NAS is just IT cosplay.
So this is the least expensive and best nas... not the best turnkey nas... So price is now a consideration what is best for a turnkey nas. Well that line could be drawn anywhere... To me the h874 is the best 8 bay turnkey nas, wins easily. My logic and reason differs from you. Picking Intel late gen CPUs are still the best overall option. Worth the money for me.
dude, the German translation is horrible (the voice itself and partially the wording - just don't use it), also the title has grammar mistakes. I know I can change the audio track to English, but the title is still on you.

I’m a simple man. I see a new Nas Compares video, I neglect my responsibilities
And if more than one person needs to connect to the storage pool?

No one cares what you got. Get your frustration somewhere else. No one need you here.
showing Your age mate haha love the intro
No UNAS pro, really ? 10gbit 7 bay for 500,- .. great for video/photo editing directly from NAS :) Just saying ....

Why NAS at all? - that's a excellent question.
