I would have pitched the blade to dig just a bit further if the dozer could still pull it. But these types of root plows have always been impressive, it's great some people aren't too stupid that they aren't built anymore.
Thanks for showing the machine at work. I was wondering how the Komatsu was going to raise the plow, when I saw the sheave on the plow frame, as no modern tractor has a CCU (Cable Control Unit). But I see that the Komatsu has a single hydraulic cylinder with another sheave connected to a cable. I am wondering how you changed the pitch of the blade,, although I do not remember any form of pitch adjustment on the FLECO, or Balderson root plows that were pulled by the old Cats, Allis-Chalmers, and in very rare instances IH crawlers. I remember watching a D8 root plowing down by La Gloria, but there were land clearing contractors all over South Texas, including a pretty well equipped one in Cotulla. There are several pictures of clearing brush on the King Ranch, with Cats sold by Holt, and there is an old A-C video on TH-cam of HD-19s clearing brush in the LRGV, probably sold by Anderson(?) when they had a branch in Edinburg.
Great video. Massive heavy steel fabrication no better place than Texas. I understand the purpose and function of this implement which is to loosen compacted soil and roots etc. But then to prep for building site? Farming? Road construction? Would be interesting to see next step. Just curious…
Back in the Ole days in Florida we used the Webb plow mounted on a motor grader were the mold board was wedding palmetoes more efficient and not on tracks less cost hello
Looks great both welding and video/editing !! I may stop by next time I'm in south Texas.
Come on by
@@hebbronvillemachineshop7763 not much at stick welding but can hold my own with the dual shield.

Thanks for commenting, the pitch of the blade is changed by using the wedges at the top of the plow

Thanks for the comment , it’s strictly used for making pasture land out of heavy brush country.
At least this one is used for that.
Wonder how it would do in softwood and hardwood harvested ground that had 8-24 inch trees?
Idk, it cuts the roots of big mesquite trees of that size but I don’t know what those root systems are like vs the Mesquite
