The same was true of his comment about Stipe, it was about being sick of media speculation & celebrity hypocrisy, at a time when their much-loved manager was actually dying.
Tidal waves of anonymous hate and possible career cancellation terrify bands into not doing the same in this era. You'll struggle to find a bad review in any music magazine. I miss those days.

I only subject myself to it because Professor Tim Wilson on TH-cam really likes it or something and I really like him. Plus Nigel Farage and Greg Gutfeld and Michael Gove and Michael Fabricant and Dr Liam Fox and Greg Hands and so on. But I hate it all utterly.
