This is the only guitar in the world made out of this wood. Montezuma cypress or sabino (Taxodium Mucronatum) is the national tree of Mexico. The tree holds religious and historical meaning to the natives of México, to the Aztecs it represented a rulers authority, and it was under one of these trees that Hernan Cortes wept after suffering a defeat. Also, one of these trees holds the record as the stoutest tree in the world. The wood is revered for it’s healing properties, it is a very difficult wood to make into lumber and very difficult to work with, reason why is scarce.
